Has anyone made the Amy Butler Gumdrop Ottomans? The pattern is for sale in the sewmamasew shop and it looks very intriguing. Are they difficult?

I've made one... it is on my blog.  dixiemango.wordpress.com

I thought it was fairly easy.  I guess it depends on your sewing level.  I thought an advanced beginner could do it with little problems.  It has lots of great pics and such.  Just requires a lot of stuffing time!  I say try it.

I made one for my son's room. It wasn't that hard for this relative beginner and is super cute. I suggest being really careful as you match up the fabric panels. After piecing the two groups of panels together, I realized that I hadn't alternated the different fabrics correctly and had to rip most of it apart and try again. Check out PatternReview.com for more tips. They had some great suggestions for saving on the HUGE amount of stuffing you need. Good luck. --Michelle

I made an ottoman out of Simple Sewing with a French Twist (http://www.amazon.com/Simple-Sewing-French-Twist-Illustrated/dp/0307351823/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1233615476&sr=8-1).  It's easier than Amy Butler's pattern because there are only 3 pieces--bottom, top, and side to deal with.  The only advice I would give is that it takes a rather obscene amount of stuffing to fill an ottoman, and if you fill it with shredded foam, be prepared for a bit of a mess.
