sewing machine cozy

I made a cozy to keep the dust out of my new sewing machine.  The fabric is You Got the Notions (Project Runway for Robert Kaufman).  I adapted the free sewing machine cozy pattern on Spool.  I changed the dimensions to better fit my machine, added the pocket and handle, and inserted a lining.

I just got my first sewing machine for Christmas and I'm pretty proud of how this project turned out.

Who else has made their own sewing machine cozy?  Any pictures?

That looks awesome!  Great fabric!  I have a hard case for my machine too, but it's not as pretty as your fabric!

I like it.  I keep meaning to make one because I also have one of those flimsy plastic covers.  But, I can never settle on the material!

I love your color combo and the idea of adding a pocket.  The fabric is so appropriate for the project too!

Here's mine I made about a year ago when I was just learning to cut patterns.  I used Heather Ross' garden gnome fabric from her Lightning Bugs collection.  I used the gnomes because I call my machine Gnomey (because it's a Janome and I love rhymes and/or alliteration).  I lined it with denim to make it nice and sturdy.

Those gnomes are great!  It's nice to see what someone else created for their machine.  And I totally understand about the rhyming/alliteration thing.  My college roommate drives her Jetta-- which she named Japetta.

Nice!! I need one of these. Where did you get the original pattern you adapted? I, too, got my first sewing machine for Christmas.

Frostedtreats, the original pattern came from the Spool fabric store blog: http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/

The sewing machine cozy is listed under free patterns on the left.
