Reusing
on: February 01, 2009, 12:47:23 PM
Anybody have any ideas what to do with cloth napkins? I inherited many different napkins when mil passed away. I want to make something but not sure what. I have alot of tablecloths took. I'm keeping most of them because they are so nice but am going to reuse some of them that don't fit my tables.Any good ideas?

You could make reusable shopping bags from the tablecloths and use the napkins as pockets.
Or - Aprons from the tablecloths and use the napkins as pockets / embellishments.
Have fun, Beth

Most of my vintage tablecloths don't fit our table, but I use them anyhow because I love the texture of the cotton and the bright happy prints. I would suspect the same of napkins though I don't have any vintage napkins of my own.
Could you back a quilt with them?

What about using the napkins as pockets for a vintage looking recycled apron?

Great ideas. My kids are all upset at the thought of me cutting up this really bright green & white tablecloth.I guess they just like it so I might have to keep it so they will be happy having grandmas tablecloth. My kids were fighting over an apron toady so I know they need a few new ones. I love the idea of using a napkin as a pocket!

I recently used two of the same sized cloth napkin to make a roll holder for my double sided knitting needles and crochet needles. The napkins were of a fairly stiff fabric and because they were already finished it made an already easy project super easy and quick. I have found this type of roll to be so handy I've made them for my kids coloured pencils and markers and their crayons as well.
