    Hemmer foot- any help?
    on: June 02, 2008, 04:21:38 PM
Hello all, I've just purchased a 2 mm hemmer foot for my pfaff machine- I have the tip about sewing the little corner at the end to help pull the fabric through the curve on the machine- but am still having trouble with keeping it running through.  I have also only used cheap fabric to practice.  Does anyone have any advice and tips on using a hemmer foot and do you think using high quality cotton will work better?
    Thank you!

Ahhhh....I know exactly what you are experiencing.  You need to grasp the fabric you are feeding into the tunnel thingy that makes the hem ---on a diagonal slant upward.

      1.  Take a few stitches at the beginning and use those threads to pull the fabric through the foot.

      2.  Lower the presser foot.

      3.  Grab the fabric you are hemming with your right hand and hold it up about 6-8 inches in a diagonal slant in the direction of the foot.

      4. Start sewing....slowly at first until you get the feel of it.

Once you get the motion you can sew and sew until the bobbin thread runs out.

I swear by my hemmer foot.  It's the most useful attachment I own.

Okay, that sounds way easy Ambimom.  I'm seriously getting a hemmer foot the next time I'm at my dealer.  Thank you for the post!
