Great Sewing Book

I've made 4 skirts using the elastic waistband skirt, and they have all turned out super cute. I even strayed a little from the pattern and added a sheer overlay to one of the skirts. It turned out beautifully! I haven't been able to sew much in the last few days, because we are in the process of moving, and so everything is getting packed up and it's really hard to find things.

This is a great book, even for a beginner garment sewer (like me.)  I made the first garments I've ever made (if you don't count the world's easiest angel costume for the Christmas pageant)-- the elastic-waist skirt-- and it was so simple even though I had never made clothes before.  I think I never made any clothes before because I was intimidated by patterns; this book is great because you make the pattern yourself from your own measurements.  It was a great intro to patterns for me, actually-- I'm now reading the original Sew U (Built by Wendy) to try to figure out how to use them, and I'm finding a simple Halloween pattern costume much less intimidating since I've worked from my own homemade pattern first with Sew What- Skirts.

Oh, this is a great book!  I checked it out at the library and think I may need to invest in my own copy soon.  It is far more satisfying to draft my own custom skirt pattern versus using a McCall's skirt pattern or some such.
