Great First Bag

By: Irene on 02/22/2011 04:40:50 PM

Great simple pattern. I've made this bag several times and have also taught new sewers the pattern as well. The only modification is that I moved the opening for turning to a straight section of the bag instead of the curved section. I highly recommend this pattern!

Great beginner bag

By: Hazelnuts on 02/17/2011 10:15:33 PM

Pros: Beautifully proportioned and easy to make

Cons: Potential for a lot of wasted fabric

I've made three of these bags and continue to love the pattern more and more. It's a perfectly proportioned bag, easy to get things in and out of, and the straps are just the right length. Instructions are clear and it would be a great bag for a beginner. The only problem is the yardage requirement is much more than it needs to be and their pattern layout would result in an awful lot of wasted fabric if you don't change it around a bit.
