Our Oakshott Lakes Table Linens Challenge comes to a close with a table runner from Jessica Skultety of Quilty Habit. The shot cotton woven cottons have different warp and weft strands, giving them each a distinct and special color while ensuring that all of the fabrics in the collection work well together. Our challengers have outdone themselves with bright, happy designs for their new table linens, inspiring us to jump in and sew something for our homes too! We saw beautiful runners from Michelle and Nicole, Mary Claire’s napkins, placemats from Anjeanette and trivets by Sara.

Jessica from Quilty Habit combined half-square triangles (HSTs) and half-rectangle triangles (HRTs) in her Star Within Block Runner. She writes, “Shot cottons change colors in the light– you have to see it to really believe it. I love these Oakshott fabrics because they are a bit thicker and easier to work with than quilting cotton (in my opinion). Plus, they have more dimensionality than regular solid quilting cotton. So, so pretty. Plus, these colors were my favorites– purples to pinks to a wide range of blues. Mmm.” Jessica wrote a tutorial for the design at Quilty Habit so you can make this runner too!
