The Event: Camp Workroom Social
Camp Workroom Social is a four-day sewing retreat for adults, featuring contemporary experts in apparel sewing and style! Camp Workroom Social is not your typical sewing retreat. It’s a new approach to sewing education. At Camp Workroom Social, perfection is not our goal, learning is.

Immerse yourself in an encouraging and non-competitive sewing course and escape your everyday routine. Socialize and bond with other adults who share your enthusiasm for sewing, and embrace the excitement of sleepaway camp.

At Camp Workroom Social, sign up for one of six intensive tracks, designed to take your sewing skills from good to great. Our team of professional designers and sewists make apparel sewing approachable and fun. Learn key techniques and build up your skills in a warm and friendly environment. In addition to classes, we’ve lined up lots of camp-inspired activities for you, from rock climbing to weaving. During down time, you can choose to relax or get to know your fellow campers on a hike or in a yoga class. We designed Camp Workroom Social for you to learn, to practice your sewing skills, and to have fun!

Where + When:
Camp Workroom Social is October 16-19, 2015 at the Frost Valley YMCA, a summer sleepaway camp located on over 5,000 acres in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, just 2.5 hours north of New York City. Shuttle service from midtown Manhattan is included for registered campers.

How much does it cost, and what’s included?
All campers receive the following with registration:

  • Roundtrip shuttle bus service from New York City (Midtown).
  • Cabin style lodging with shared rooms of 4-6 campers in single beds.
  • All meals served in the Camp Dining Hall from dinner Friday night through lunch Monday afternoon (we happily accommodate food allergies).
  • Sewing machine (for use during the weekend, but if you prefer to bring your own, you are welcome to).
  • Sewing patterns and class guides.
  • One two-day intensive sewing class with a maximum class size of about 12 people (supplies not included).
  • One class in loom weaving (supplies included).
  • Camp activities including crafts, hiking, rock climbing, ziplining, karaoke and a me-made fashion show!
  • Camper gift bag.

We have two registration options for campers. Campers can pay in full for the four-day retreat ($825) or campers can pay in installments (three installments of $310).

Lodging Options:
Lodging is included for all campers. For four days, campers will stay in one of Frost Valley’s “super lodges.” Think ski lodge meets summer camp. The 2-story building has thirteen rooms sleeping 4 to 6 people, each room with a private bath. The lodge also features a large common room with a fireplace, where our nighttime activities will take place over drinks and dessert. Our lodge is closest to the dining hall, so campers don’t need to travel far to find things to eat.
