Allison from the SweaterDoll shop and blog has a unique darning sampler project for you next, but first we’d love for you to take a closer look at her sites and patterns. Alien + Astronaut below are from Allison’s latest sewing pattern, created with her “layer cake” method of doll making; front and back panel fabrics look like a slice of layer cake in this colorful and easy technique.
Learn more about Allison and there’s a giveaway with the sampler post too so don’t miss that, coming up next!
Allison Dey Malacaria first learned to sew from rag bags in the kitchens of quilters of the deep south. In that tradition, Allison started a little business selling upcycled wool “sweaterdolls.” She now designs and sells toy and doll PDF sewing patterns through her business, SweaterDoll, and has plans to add stitchery and embroidery patterns.
Allison lives with her husband in Australia where she teaches stitchery to adults and children, contributes to sewing and lifestyle magazines and blogs and lives a decidedly low-tech handmade lifestyle.
