Genshin designs look intimidating because each one stacks so many layers: a fitted base, overskirts or tails, trim, a brightly colored wig, a Vision charm and usually one signature prop. Taken apart, though, they're very buildable, and sensible fabric choices plus light accessories keep them wearable through a long convention day, a Halloween party or a photo shoot. The characters below come from several regions and range from friendly beginner builds to big statement pieces. For each one I've covered the base, wig, makeup, accessories, props and shoes, so you can match a character to your budget and how much sewing you want to take on. Furina and Arlecchino open the list.

Turning a Busy Game Design Into a Cutting List
Game outfits are drawn, not sewn, so the first job on any of these is working out what is actually a garment. I sketch each character as layers, front and back, and sort every piece into four piles before buying any fabric.
- The base: the bodysuit, shorts, shirt or dress that everything else attaches to. It has to be opaque and comfortable, because you'll live in it all day.
- Overlays: tailcoats, overskirts, capes and panels. Many can be adapted from an existing coat or skirt pattern rather than drafted from scratch.
- Trim and surface pattern: gold lines, florals, geometric panels. Decide early whether each will be printed, painted, cut from vinyl or sewn on, since that changes which fabric you can use underneath.
- Wig, accessories and props: the Vision charm, hairpieces, ears, horns and the one hand prop. These are what people use to identify the character, so leave real time for them.
Then study the back view. Game art often skips how a sash ties or where a cape attaches, so you'll have to invent the closure. Snaps, hook-and-loop and hidden zippers all work; what matters is that you can get in and out of it alone, or with one friend, in a small restroom stall.
1. Furina Cosplay With Blue Tailcoat

Furina is theatrical, so her build rewards crisp structure. Fitted white shorts and a ruffled blouse go under a navy tailcoat with blue panels and gold trim, plus bows, gem-like buttons and a blue waist sash. I interface the tailcoat fronts and collar so they hold their shape; a soft navy coat collapses and loses her stage-performer outline. A short white wig with pale blue sections and a miniature top hat on a hidden clip give the head its height. Rosy cheeks, blue liner and softly defined lashes keep the makeup polished. White gloves, a blue Vision-style charm, a lightweight water-drop or cane prop with no sharp parts, white knee socks and navy heeled ankle boots you can actually walk in finish her.
2. Arlecchino Cosplay With White Tailcoat

Sharp tailoring is the whole point of Arlecchino. Black fitted pants and a dark high-neck shirt go under a long white tailcoat with black and red geometric panels, red cuffs, silver fasteners and structured shoulders. White coats show every seam allowance and every dark lining, so I line it in white or ivory and press each geometric panel flat before topstitching. The long white wig has black underneath, with the front swept into pointed layers. Pale foundation, crisp black liner, muted red shadow and dark red lipstick handle the face. Black gloves, a red gemstone pin and a Vision-style charm are light accessories. Keep stiff interfacing away from the shoulders and elbows so you can move, and choose low-heeled black boots.
3. Raiden Shogun Cosplay With Purple Kimono

Raiden Shogun is all overlapping violet, and overlaps are exactly what slide around over a long day. Start with a purple kimono-style dress over opaque fitted shorts or a secure bodysuit, add a wide red-and-purple obi, then gold edging, floral patterns, shoulder guards and the purple rope bow. I anchor every overlapping panel with hidden snaps and a strip of fashion tape at the neckline, because pins alone work loose. A long violet wig in a thick side braid with a purple flower near one ear, lavender shadow, precise liner and a small beauty mark under one eye cover the hair and face. A purple Vision-style charm or a folding fan makes a safe prop, with thigh-high purple socks and low sandals or covered boots.
4. Hu Tao Cosplay With Black Coat

Hu Tao suits people who like to play the character, and her outfit is forgiving to build. Black shorts, a red patterned shirt and a long black coat with gold fasteners and red cuffs form the base, with white knee socks and black loafers or low block heels. The hat carries her identity, so spend your time there: a pale flower, red ribbons and a paper-style emblem on a black hat over a long dark brown wig with red-tinted ends. I'd pin the hat through to a wig cap, since a heavy flower tips it backward. Warm red shadow, flushed cheeks and flower-shaped eye details bring out her mischief. A small ghost plush, rings, black nails and a Vision-style charm near the back of the coat finish her.
5. Mavuika Cosplay With Red And Black Bodysuit

Mavuika's fire palette is bold, and the build has a lot of pieces to manage. Use an opaque black bodysuit or fitted jumpsuit as the base, with red-orange panels, gold lines and flame-shaped appliqués, then a cropped white jacket with structured shoulders for contrast. A long orange-red wig fading to yellow at the ends needs real volume; I'd tease the roots and set them with a hairspray made for wigs. Bronze shadow, winged liner, warm blush and a glossy neutral lip suit her. Orange earrings, dark gloves, sunglasses and a flame-shaped ornament are the accessories, with sturdy black thigh-high boots. Make the foam flame details removable so the costume packs flat and you can sit down in it.
6. Xilonen Cosplay With Gold And Black Streetwear

Xilonen reads as athletic streetwear, so anything stiff works against her. A fitted black-and-gold bodysuit sits under white or opaque dance shorts, with an open cream jacket, gold belt pieces, teal accents and soft animal-print panels at the hips. The ears are where I'd take the most care: faux fur over thin craft foam keeps them light, and trimming the fur pile short at the edges keeps the shape crisp. A long golden-blonde wig with darker roots, bronze makeup, sharp liner, golden highlight and small painted marks near the eyes finish the head. Gold headphones, stacked bracelets, a teal Vision-style ornament, black-and-gold knee pads and sturdy high-top boots round her out.
7. Mualani Cosplay With Blue Beach Outfit

Mualani is the character to save for hot weather. Blue fitted shorts, an opaque white-and-blue crop top and a short open jacket with orange, pink and shark-themed decoration make the base, with a wide belt, colorful cords, shell details and a blue Vision-style charm. Swimwear fabric breathes well here, but it's slippery to sew, so I use a ballpoint needle and a narrow zigzag. Her long blue wig takes aqua streaks, soft waves and decorative clips around the crown, and the makeup is fresh: coral blush, turquoise liner, glossy lips and light face markings. A shark plush or painted foam float makes a friendly prop, with sporty blue sandals or cushioned ankle boots. Tack down every hanging cord so it can't snag on crowds or furniture.
8. Nahida Cosplay With Green And White Dress

Nahida is a small, childlike character, so for an adult build I keep the coverage secure and the details delicate. Start with an opaque white dress with green leaf-shaped panels and gold edging, fitted shorts underneath, detached white sleeves, green wrist cuffs and a small cape panel at the back. A short white wig with green-tinted ends and leaf ornaments beside one ear, peach blush, green liner, pearly highlight and tiny leaf accents at the temples keep it light. A glowing green orb, a miniature plant or an illustrated book makes a safe prop, with white ankle boots under green cutout-style covers. Cotton blends breathe better than polyester satin at a crowded indoor event, and soft foam leaves won't crack when the cape gets squashed against a seat.
9. Neuvillette Cosplay With Blue Formal Coat

Neuvillette is courtroom formality with water running through it. Tailored navy trousers, a white ruffled shirt and a long dark blue coat with pale blue lapels and silver decoration form the base, with a fitted vest, a blue gemstone brooch, white gloves and layered shoulder pieces in place of armor. The long white wig with blue underneath goes into a low ponytail with curled front pieces. Cool foundation, blue-gray shadow, defined brows and clean liner give him his composure. An ornate blue book, a silver cane-style accessory or a water-drop ornament works as the prop, with small-heeled navy boots. I'd fix the coat's decorative panels with snaps so they come off during breaks, and choose a breathable suiting over polyester gabardine.
10. Zhongli Cosplay With Brown Tailcoat

Zhongli's brown and amber look refined, but the coat's gold patterns are where most builds go wrong. Thick raised trim stiffens the sleeves and pulls the waist out of shape, so I cut the angular patterns from thin gold vinyl, which bends with the fabric. Under the long brown tailcoat go straight black trousers, a dark fitted shirt and a cream vest panel, with amber gems, black gloves and a long geometric earring. The dark brown wig has amber-tinted ends, layered around the face and gathered into a short tail at the back. Keep the makeup understated with warm contour, bronze shadow, straight brows and amber liner if you like. A contract scroll, a golden cube or a faux gem makes the prop, with polished black or brown boots.
11. Venti Cosplay With Green Cape

Venti is light to wear and a good first Genshin build. Dark shorts, a white ruffled blouse and a fitted green vest or corset-style waistcoat form the base, with a short green cape with pale trim, a brown belt and a blue bow at the neck. Choose a soft cape fabric that drapes; anything stiff drags at the collar all day. A blue-black wig with teal braids carries the hair, and the green cap with its white flower and feather pins through to the wig with hidden clips. Soft peach makeup, green liner, freckles and rosy cheeks bring out his cheerful side. A painted foam lyre, white tights and brown ankle boots finish him.
12. Wanderer Cosplay With Blue Hat

The hat is the whole build on the Wanderer, and it's also the piece that will annoy you most in a crowd. I make the wide circular brim from lightweight foam, stiffen the edge with a wire or plastic ring so it doesn't droop, and attach it with a removable clip so it comes off in halls, elevators and seating areas. Underneath go fitted black shorts, a sleeveless navy top and flowing blue-and-white panels under a wide belt, with gold trim, red cords, black arm coverings and a turquoise Vision-style charm. The short dark blue wig wants choppy layers rounded around the face. Cool blue liner, lightly defined brows and soft neutral lips, ribbons and tassels at the back of the hat, black knee socks and flat sandals or fitted ankle boots finish him.
13. Kamisato Ayaka Cosplay With Blue Kimono Dress

Ayaka's elegance lives in the pattern, and the pattern is where the weight creeps in. Rather than appliqué every flower, I'd print or paint the floral motif onto the blue-and-white kimono-style top and save appliqué for the few largest shapes. That top goes over an opaque navy dress or fitted romper, with a pleated skirt panel, foam gold waist armor, pink cords and pale florals. A long silver-blue wig in a high ponytail with straight bangs and a gold hairpiece, soft pink blush, icy blue shadow, fine liner and a subtle pink lip suit her. A blue folding fan with snowflakes, dark thigh-high socks and low black sandals keep her walkable.
14. Yae Miko Cosplay With Pink Shrine Outfit

Pink hair and long sleeves carry Yae Miko from across a room. A white fitted top, a red skirt or opaque shorts and long white-and-red overskirt panels form the base, with gold clasps, purple gems, shrine-style patterns and detached sleeves cut with enough room to lift your arms. The pastel pink wig needs smooth layers, and the fox ears at the crown should sit on a headband under the wig rather than be glued into it, so you can restyle later. Pink shadow, elongated liner, defined lashes and a rosy lip polish the face. A small purple book, charm cards or a fox plush makes the prop, with white socks and platform sandals or supportive boots. Stitch the long panels to the waistband so they swing without dragging on the floor.
15. Ganyu Cosplay With Blue Bodysuit

Ganyu's base has to be properly opaque, because flash photography shows straight through thin stretch fabric. I test a navy bodysuit by stretching it over my hand under a bright lamp before buying. Layer a white halter-style collar, flowing blue back panels and gold-edged hip pieces over it, with red cords, bells, dark gloves and a blue Vision-style ornament. The long pale blue wig gets soft waves and side-swept bangs, and her black-and-red horns sit on a hidden headband. Cool pink shadow, clean black liner and soft berry lipstick suit her. A blue flower, a rolled work scroll or a small qilin-style plush makes a safe prop, with black tights and navy ankle boots.
16. Keqing Cosplay With Purple Layered Dress

Keqing layers a tailored purple dress with fine electro gold lines. A fitted lavender dress is the foundation, with darker overskirt panels, white ruffles and gold geometric trim, plus detached purple sleeves and patterned tights to carry the layering without the weight. Her twin tails with pointed loops are the tricky part. I'd shape each loop around a small foam or wire armature hidden in the fiber, or they flop by lunchtime. Flower hair ornaments, a purple gem at the neckline, lilac shadow, winged liner, pink blush and a cool lip finish her, and reflective vinyl copies the fine gold lines well. A glowing crystal or document folder makes a light prop, with heeled purple ankle boots or comfortable flats.
17. Nilou Cosplay With Blue Dancer Outfit

Nilou's fabric has to move, so lightweight chiffon is worth the fiddly sewing. Line the sheer-look skirt panels with solid fabric for coverage, and finish chiffon edges with a narrow rolled hem, because it frays as soon as it's cut. Under them go an opaque blue fitted top and shorts, with gold edging, turquoise gems, a white veil panel and ornate waist pieces. The long red wig has soft waves and straight bangs under a gold horn-shaped crown with blue fabric accents. Turquoise liner, warm blush, gold highlight and a rose lip make stage-ready makeup. A silk-look scarf, a flower or a water-drop ornament makes a graceful prop, with gold cuffs, layered necklaces and blue-and-gold dance flats or low sandals.
18. Dehya Cosplay With Red And Black Armor

Dehya looks armored, but none of it needs to be heavy. Fitted black pants or opaque shorts, a red crop top and an asymmetrical black overskirt make the base, with gold foam armor at the shoulders, waist and knees, red fabric panels and a tan scarf. I strap each armor piece on with elastic rather than gluing it to fabric, so it shifts when you sit instead of tearing loose. EVA foam takes heat-shaping, which lets the knee pieces curve properly around the joint. A long black wig with warm golden ends and small ear accessories, bronze shadow, bold liner, warm contour and muted red lips handle the face. Fingerless gloves, a gold Vision-style charm, a desert map and black knee-high boots with gold covers finish her.
19. Navia Cosplay With Yellow Formal Dress

Navia is the sunny one, and her hat and skirt need to hold their shape without turning into luggage. A fitted black bodice goes over a layered yellow-and-white skirt, with a short structured jacket in gold trim, black stockings, white gloves, blue gems and small bows. Lightweight taffeta or satin-look fabric keeps the skirt full, and a stiff net petticoat underneath does more than extra fabric layers would. The long golden-blonde wig with curled ends sits under a wide black hat with yellow roses, feathers and ribbons; I'd wire the brim so it doesn't sag. Warm brown shadow, long lashes, rosy cheeks and coral lipstick, a closed lace parasol or yellow handbag, and black heeled boots finish her.
20. Clorinde Cosplay With Navy Uniform

Clorinde wears a uniform, so crispness matters most at the collar and shoulders. Fitted navy shorts or pants, a white high-collar shirt and a dark blue jacket with split tails form the base, with purple lining, gold buttons, a red neck accent, black gloves and a matching belt. I sew the jacket from stretch suiting and interface only the collar and shoulders, which keeps the sharp look and still lets you raise your arms. A smooth shoulder-length dark blue wig sits under a navy three-corner hat. Violet shadow, strong liner, defined brows and a berry lip give her focus. A dueling card, an electro-colored gem or a document folder replaces a complicated prop, with black thigh-high stockings and navy heeled boots.
21. Chiori Cosplay With Yellow Floral Kimono

Chiori is a fashion designer in the game, so careful construction suits her better than most. An opaque black fitted dress or romper goes under a short yellow kimono-style layer, with red cords, flower-shaped fasteners, black lace and asymmetrical golden skirt panels. A printed floral fabric gets you the intricate pattern far faster than hand-attaching every decoration. Her caramel-brown bob, longer at the back, carries red floral ornaments at the sides. Gold shadow, precise liner, warm blush and red-tinted lips keep it fashionable. A fabric swatch book, a measuring tape or a miniature dress form makes a fun prop, with black gloves, gold earrings, dark thigh-high stockings and yellow-and-black ankle boots.
22. Kirara Cosplay With Green Delivery Uniform

Kirara is a courier, and her uniform pieces are easy to source. A short green dress or a matching top and shorts get yellow trim, black sleeves, a small red neck bow and package-label details. The long blonde wig with green sections goes into twin tails with soft cat ears on top. Her tail needs a little thought: I mount it on a hidden belt under the dress instead of pinning it to the fabric, because a pinned tail drags the hem down and tears out. Green liner, peach blush, small whisker accents and glossy lips keep her cute and family-friendly. A light cardboard parcel with made-up delivery symbols, black fingerless gloves, a green Vision-style charm, opaque tights and paw-shaped covers over supportive sneakers round her out.
23. Lumine Cosplay With White Traveler Dress

Lumine is bright and heroic, and white is unforgiving, so I plan for stains from the start. Begin with an opaque white sleeveless dress with pale blue panels, gold edging and an asymmetrical hem, then add white arm coverings, a flower hair ornament, a blue sash and glowing turquoise details at the waist. If you add battery lights, run them through removable fabric channels so they switch off easily and never sit directly against skin. A shoulder-length blonde wig with two longer front pieces, gold shadow, peach blush and a clean pink lip suit her. A glowing star ornament, folded map or travel journal makes the prop, with white boots under gold covers. Pack a stain pen.
24. Aether Cosplay With Brown Traveler Outfit

Aether's palette is earthier than his sister's, which hides convention grime far better. Fitted brown pants, a cropped brown-and-black top and an asymmetrical cream cape fixed across one shoulder form the base, with gold trim, a wide sash, dark gloves and turquoise glowing details at the chest and belt. Put stretch panels at the shoulders and waist, and sew a hidden pocket or two into the sash for a phone and badge. His tousled blonde wig has a long braid down the back, and his makeup stays natural with light contour, straight brows, warm neutral shadow and a touch of gold highlight. A rolled map, star ornament or small travel bag beats a bulky prop, with brown knee-high boots under gold foam covers.
25. Xiao Cosplay With White And Purple Outfit

Xiao's mask is his signature, and it's the piece I'd think hardest about, because any mask cuts your side vision. Paint a lightweight one in turquoise, purple and gold and wear it on the belt or the side of the head, moving it over the face only for photos. The rest is dark fitted pants, a pale high-neck shirt, an asymmetrical purple overskirt under an ornate belt, teal beads, gold waist armor, a green Vision-style charm and a single patterned arm sleeve. A short dark teal wig with spiked layers and brighter green ends, red eye shadow, strong liner, defined brows and a small purple forehead mark handle the head. Dark gloves, beads, black boots and purple ankle wraps finish him.
26. Kaedehara Kazuha Cosplay With Red Cape

Kazuha's autumn colors suit a softer build. Dark shorts or fitted pants, a black sleeveless shirt and a white-and-red wrap tunic form the base, with a short red cape, maple leaf patterns, black gloves and a wide belt with gold fasteners. A linen blend breathes through all those layers, and thin foam keeps the shoulder and belt pieces in shape. The short white wig gets one bold red section near the front and soft windswept layers. I'd add the red as a separate sewn-in weft rather than dye it, since dye rarely takes evenly on synthetic fiber. Warm brown shadow, a hint of red liner and flushed cheeks keep the face natural. A maple branch, poem scroll or red fan, black knee socks and flat sandals or boots with red covers finish him.
27. Alhaitham Cosplay With Green And Black Outfit

Alhaitham's silhouette is sleek, so every piece should sit close without restricting you. An opaque black sleeveless top and pants in stretch performance fabric form the base, with a short gray-and-teal cape over one shoulder, gold waist pieces, green gems, dark gloves and geometric chest details. Cut the metallic details from lightweight foam and seal them with a flexible primer before painting, or the gold cracks wherever the fabric bends. A short silver-gray wig with dark teal underneath, shaped into thick angled layers, plus clean contour, green-gray shadow, defined brows and muted lips handle the head. His headphone-style ear pieces and a green book are easy props, with black boots under gold and teal covers.
28. Tartaglia Cosplay With Gray Uniform

Tartaglia's gray uniform is a good first detailed character, because it's mostly one jacket done well. Fitted gray pants and a matching asymmetrical jacket go over a dark red shirt or panel, with silver trim, red straps, black gloves and a bright blue gem at the waist. Choose a fabric with slight stretch so the jacket stays fitted, and use hidden zippers so you aren't fighting a row of hooks in a cramped changing area. A short orange wig with messy layers and a raised fringe, warm contour, light brown shadow and defined brows suit his grin. A red theatrical mask worn at the side of the head or carried in hand makes the prop, with dark gray boots under red and silver covers.
29. Arataki Itto Cosplay With Purple Oni Details

Itto is loud and made for big poses, so build for movement. White fitted pants, an opaque burgundy top and a long purple overskirt with rope and geometric patterns form the base, with a wide black-and-gold belt, red arm coverings, fingerless gloves and light shoulder guards. His two red oni-style horns go on a secure headband under a long white wig with red ends. The red markings across the face and upper body should be skin-safe body paint, patch-tested a day ahead and set with powder, because otherwise they transfer onto every white garment you're wearing. Bold red liner, defined brows and warm contour finish the face. A small beetle model, a snack bag or an inflatable club where props are allowed, plus black platform boots, round him out.
30. Paimon Cosplay With White Cape Dress

Paimon floats in the game, so the build is about suggesting that without anything fragile. An opaque white dress or romper with peach-gold panels and a dark navy collar gets a short starry cape, detached white sleeves, gold cuffs and a rose-gold waist detail. The halo is the clever bit: a lightweight gold ring on clear headband supports so it seems to hover. I'd use stiff clear plastic rods rather than wire, which shows in photos. A short white wig with soft volume, peach-toned side sections and a dark blue star clip, plus rosy blush, pale blue shadow, delicate liner and a bright pink lip, suit her. Iridescent cape fabric gives the magic without lights, and a travel guidebook or star plush, white tights and peach-gold ankle boots finish her.
Gold Trim That Stays On Through a Long Day
Nearly every outfit above carries gold lines, and trim is usually the first detail to fail. Each method has its weak spot.
- Heat-transfer vinyl presses on cleanly with an iron, but the standard kind cracks and lifts on stretch fabric. Use a stretch version on bodysuits and test-press a scrap first.
- Fabric paint gives fine lines and adds no weight. It cracks where the fabric flexes most, at elbows, knees and waist, so several thin coats beat one thick one.
- Metallic bias tape and lamé ribbon look rich, but their cut ends fray, so fold or seal them before stitching.
- Foam trim holds raised shapes best. Seal it with a flexible primer before painting, and attach it with contact cement rather than hot glue, which lets go when the piece bends.
Two-Tone Wigs Without Dyeing Anything
Half this cast has two-color hair, and dyeing synthetic fiber rarely comes out even. I start with a wig in the main color and add the second as clip-in wefts or a section sewn in underneath. Check the fiber's heat rating before you touch it with a styling tool, because ordinary synthetic frizzes or melts at temperatures human hair handles easily. Style the wig on a head form a few days ahead, and put ears, horns and hats on their own headband so the styling survives taking them off.
An Opaque Base, the Right Hair and One Signature Prop
Every character here works at more than one skill level. Beginners can lean on printed fabrics, closet basics and ready-made accessories, and more experienced makers can add custom foam pieces, tailored panels, styled wigs and a little lighting. Whoever you pick, the same few things decide how the day goes: an opaque base, shoes you can stand in, breathable fabric and props that weigh almost nothing. Wear the full costume at home for an hour first, paying attention to capes, wigs, hats and anything that detaches. A comfortable build with the right colors, the right hair and one signature accessory beats a perfect one you can't sit down in.
