Danganronpa is a stylist's dream to dress, because every student is built from a clear colour scheme, a hair shape and one or two accessories you can spot across a room. The cast spans the main games, so you can go from a plain school uniform to gothic lace, punk layers or a robot build. For each character below I've laid out the clothing base, wig, makeup, prop and shoes. Most of them can be bought ready-made, pieced together from thrifted clothes or put together from your own closet, and I've said where each approach makes sense.

Casting a Group Across the Three Games
The list runs through the first game, the second and the third, roughly in that order. If you're dressing a group, it's worth picking from one game so the uniforms and colours make sense together. A mix of Makoto, Kyoko and Byakuya next to Hajime and Chiaki still works, but people looking at the photo will read it as two separate groups.
- Easy entry points: Makoto, Hajime, Byakuya, Chihiro and Tsumugi are mostly shop-bought clothing plus a wig.
- Middle ground: Kyoko, Sayaka, Kaede, Maki and Kirumi need careful wig styling but little crafting.
- Bigger projects: Celestia's drills, Mondo's pompadour, Ibuki's horns and K1-B0's armour take real build time.
Give the bigger builds to whoever has the most time before the date, not whoever loves the character most. A half-finished costume pulls a group photo down more than a simpler character done well.
1. Junko Enoshima Cosplay With Black And Red Uniform

Junko is the face of the series, so people will check the details. Start with a black pleated skirt, white button-down, red necktie and a fitted black cardigan or jacket, then add the white lapel symbols in iron-on vinyl. Vinyl gives a crisper edge than fabric paint on a knit cardigan, though it does need a press cloth and a cool iron. The strawberry-blonde wig goes into high twin tails, and the black-and-white bear clips are what make her read from a distance. Black knee socks, chunky boots with red laces, sharp liner, berry lips, red nails and a small bear plush finish her.
2. Monokuma Cosplay With Split Black And White Outfit

You can do Monokuma without a hot, bulky mascot suit. A hoodie or jumpsuit split down the middle into white and black halves is the base, with rounded ears on the hood, a friendly round eye on the white side and the red graphic eye on the black side. The straight centre line matters most; I mark it with tailor's chalk while the garment is on a body, because a line drawn flat always wanders once it's worn. Split-colour gloves and sneakers carry the design down, and half-and-half face makeup or a light half-mask does the face. It's one of the most comfortable options here, with full vision and room to layer underneath.
3. Makoto Naegi Cosplay With Green Hoodie

Makoto is the beginner's pick, and most of him is probably in your wardrobe already. A green zip-up hoodie goes under a black school jacket, with a white tee, dark jeans and red low-top sneakers, plus a small crest or monochrome patch on the jacket pocket. The wig decides whether he reads, especially that one piece sticking up at the crown. I'd twist that strand around a pencil, set it with a little hairspray and a hairdryer on cool, and pin it from underneath. Keep the makeup natural and slip a student ID card in your pocket as the prop.
4. Kyoko Kirigiri Cosplay With Purple Jacket

Kyoko is all cool colour and restraint. Wear a lavender or dusty-purple fitted jacket over a white collared blouse, a dark pleated skirt and slim tie. Knee-high purple boots are the strongest link to the character, but flat riding boots make a kinder choice for a long day. The long pale-lavender wig gets one loose side braid; pale wig fibre shows every frizzy strand, so I braid it slightly damp with a little detangler. Black gloves with metallic detail, cool shadow, clean winged liner and muted pink lips cover the rest, and a notebook or closed file folder is the family-friendly detective prop.
5. Celestia Ludenberg Cosplay With Gothic Lolita Dress

Celestia is for anyone who loves gothic fashion and doesn't mind the weight of lace. Choose a black knee-length dress with a fitted bodice, puffed sleeves, white cuffs and a full skirt, with a petticoat underneath. A petticoat in soft tulle gives volume without the scratch of stiff net. Add a white lace headpiece, red neck ribbon, black stockings and Mary Janes. Her black twin drills are the hard part: the spirals need hidden wire or light foam forms inside, or the curls drop flat within hours. Porcelain foundation, defined lashes, arched brows and deep red lipstick, plus lace gloves and a plastic teacup, finish her.
6. Toko Fukawa Cosplay With Braids And Glasses

Toko is a gentle, comfortable build with a few key details. Begin with a white sailor-style blouse with a dark collar and red tie, a long navy or deep-purple pleated skirt, dark socks and brown loafers. The dark-purple wig goes into two slightly messy braids, so don't fuss over making them neat. Round costume glasses are essential, and soft matte makeup with light under-eye shading sets the shy face. Carry a closed novel or manuscript pages tied with ribbon, and let your expressions hint at her unpredictable side instead of any sharp prop. I'd skip ironing the skirt sharply; a little rumple suits her.
7. Byakuya Togami Cosplay With Black Suit

Byakuya proves that tailoring beats crafting. A fitted black blazer and trousers over a crisp white shirt, a muted green tie, a small pocket emblem and black dress shoes are the whole outfit. His pale-blonde wig should be straight, layered and parted so it frames the forehead, with thin rectangular glasses. Keep the makeup matte with defined brows. The step I wouldn't skip is hemming the trousers and shortening the sleeves, because an off-the-rack suit that bunches at the ankle is what gives a Byakuya away as borrowed. A hardcover book or slim folder is enough of a prop.
8. Aoi Asahina Cosplay With Red Athletic Jacket

Aoi is bright and sporty, so plan for movement. A red athletic jacket over a white tank or fitted tee, dark denim shorts, black thigh-high socks and red sneakers make the base, with a long dark-brown wig in a high ponytail and one loose strand at the front. A heavy ponytail drags a wig backwards, so I anchor it with a clip-in ponytail over a short base and pin the cap down well. Fresh makeup with peach blush, waterproof mascara and tinted balm suits her. A swim-team duffel or a donut-shaped accessory makes the funniest prop.
9. Sakura Ogami Cosplay With Sailor Uniform

Sakura pairs a classic school uniform with a strong, athletic frame. Choose a white sailor blouse with a blue collar, a coordinating pleated skirt and a red neck scarf, plus dark wrist wraps, knee socks and sturdy black boots. The very long white wig with volume and loose waves is her most important feature, and white synthetic hair picks up makeup and dirt quickly, so keep it away from your face while you do your makeup. Body-safe makeup can add soft contour along the arms and shoulders. Grounded stances and a gym towel or athletics bag say more than any combat prop.
10. Chihiro Fujisaki Cosplay With Green Pleated Skirt

Chihiro is a sweet, easy uniform to put together. Layer a warm-brown cardigan over a white collared blouse with a narrow green ribbon, then add a green pleated skirt, dark knee socks and brown loafers. The short honey-brown wig should curve gently toward the face; if it comes too poufy, I steam it lightly and comb the layers inward. Light makeup with peach blush and brown mascara keeps the face soft. A small laptop sleeve or keyboard-shaped accessory nods to the programming talent, and shorts under the skirt plus cushioned loafers make a long day easier. The whole look comes together from affordable schoolwear and thrift finds.
11. Mondo Owada Cosplay With Long Black Coat

Mondo is all about two things: a pompadour and a coat that nearly sweeps the floor. Start with a white tank or tee, purple trousers and a long black coat with gold buttons or painted trim, and solid black boots to balance it. Build the tall brown pompadour over a light foam base inside the wig rather than trying to hold it up with product, which only makes synthetic hair heavy and sticky. Strong brows, light contour, gold rings and a wide belt add attitude. Swap any motorcycle prop for riding gloves or a club-style patch, and check the coat hem clears the floor in your actual boots.
12. Kiyotaka Ishimaru Cosplay With White School Uniform

Kiyotaka lives or dies on crispness. Wear a structured white stand-collar jacket and trousers with bright gold buttons, a red armband in stretch fabric and polished black lace-up boots. White fabric shows every crease and mark, so I'd steam it on the day and avoid sitting in it until photos are done. The short black wig is styled up into firm points with neat sides. His thick, sharply angled brows are essential; fill them with dark brow cream and set with powder so they don't smudge. A student rulebook or schedule board and a very upright posture handle the rest.
13. Sayaka Maizono Cosplay With Blue Sailor Uniform

Sayaka's idol-style sailor uniform is simple clothing with demanding hair. Choose a white short-sleeve sailor blouse with a blue collar, a red ribbon and a dark pleated skirt, with navy knee socks and brown loafers with cushioned insoles. The long navy-blue wig falls past the waist with blunt bangs and two front sections framing the face. Waist-length synthetic hair tangles fastest where it rubs your back, so steam it before the event and carry a wide-tooth comb. Soft blue-grey shadow, fluttery lashes, pink blush and rose gloss make the stage face, and an unbranded toy microphone is the prop.
14. Hajime Hinata Cosplay With Green Tie

Hajime is deliberately plain, which makes him great for hot days. A short-sleeve white button-down, a green striped tie, dark trousers, a brown belt and red-and-white sneakers are the whole base. The short brown wig needs texture and one upward-pointing piece, which I set the same way as Makoto's. Resist the urge to add accessories; his ordinariness is the point. Natural makeup, a student ID card or notebook, and a tidy silhouette are enough. Because there's no coat or heavy layer, this is one I'd suggest for a crowded, warm venue.
15. Nagito Komaeda Cosplay With Green Hooded Coat

Nagito layers comfortably and looks distinctive. Wear a long green hooded coat over a white tee with a simple red geometric print, slim black jeans with small chain details and red high-tops. The messy white wig is the centrepiece. I build the spikes with a light spray and fingers rather than gel, so they stay soft and fluffy instead of crunchy. Pale foundation, muted lips and grey shading under the eyes give him that tired look, and a lucky coin or character card works as a prop. Keep chains short so they don't snag on chairs, and enjoy the coat on a cool day outside.
16. Chiaki Nanami Cosplay With Green Gamer Hoodie

Chiaki is a cosy, all-day costume. A sage-green hoodie goes over a white blouse with a dark ribbon, with a black pleated skirt, opaque tights and pink or dusty-rose lace-up boots. The shoulder-length pale pink-beige wig has straight bangs and a tiny pixel hair clip. Getting the hoodie shade right is harder than you'd think, because sage reads grey under some lights, so I check it in daylight before buying. Soft pink shadow and rosy blush keep her sleepy, and a cable-free handheld game prop and a pink backpack for your essentials finish her. Pick a thin hoodie if you'll be indoors all day.
17. Ibuki Mioda Cosplay With Punk Sailor Uniform

Ibuki is maximalist, so the risk is something coming loose. Start with a modified white sailor blouse, black pleated skirt and loose black tie, then add mismatched striped thigh-highs, removable leg straps, fingerless gloves and chunky platforms. Her long black wig needs blue and pink streaks and two horn-like sections on top; I build the horns over small foam cones pinned into the wig so they don't wilt. Vivid pink shadow, graphic liner and blush marks make the face. Carry a foam microphone or a guitar-shaped bag rather than a real instrument, stitch patches down instead of relying on glue, and walk your platforms in before the day.
18. Mikan Tsumiki Cosplay With Lavender Nurse Uniform

Mikan can be done with no graphic makeup at all. Wear a white short-sleeve blouse with a soft sailor collar, lavender ribbon and dark pleated skirt, plus pale socks and comfortable brown or black shoes. The long purple wig wants choppy bangs and lopsided layers, so cutting into it is part of the plan; thinning shears give a less blunt result than straight scissors. Wrap clean white fabric bands loosely around one forearm and one leg, never tight enough to press. Gentle mauve shadow, slightly smudged liner and a nervous look finish it, with a first-aid pouch as a useful prop.
19. Gundham Tanaka Cosplay With Black Overcoat

Gundham is for anyone who enjoys theatrical posing and layers. A long black overcoat with silver fasteners over a dark shirt and fitted trousers is the base, with a deep-purple scarf, black boots, a wide belt and fabric wraps on one forearm. His silver-grey wig sweeps upward with dark purple streaks at the sides. The four tiny hamster plushies are what everyone looks for, so I'd sew a soft pouch to the scarf or a shoulder seam rather than balancing them on you. Strong contour, smoky violet shadow and sharp brows set the face, and a lightweight coat fabric keeps you from cooking.
20. Sonia Nevermind Cosplay With Green School Uniform

Sonia's uniform needs to look polished without going stiff. Start with a fitted white blouse and a muted green military-style jacket or vest, then a dark pleated skirt, red ribbon, knee socks and brown heeled boots. The long golden-blonde wig with straight bangs should hang neatly down the back. Bright, graceful makeup with taupe shadow, defined lashes and rose lipstick suits her. I'd keep jewellery to a metal-look brooch and small studs; anything more and the look starts reading as a different character. Carry a decorative notebook or small flag-style accessory, and swap to flat boots if you'll be walking a lot.
21. Peko Pekoyama Cosplay With Red Glasses

Peko is a cool, precise uniform. Wear a white sailor blouse with a dark collar, red tie and navy pleated skirt, with opaque black tights and fitted knee boots. Her long silver wig goes into two neat braids under straight bangs, and the bright red rectangular glasses make her recognisable straight away. Silver wigs show every flyaway, so I braid them tight and finish with clear elastics plus matching silver ties. Matte foundation, light grey shadow and a neutral lip keep her reserved. Carry a dark rectangular case or training journal instead of a weapon, which keeps the costume venue-friendly.
22. Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu Cosplay With Black Suit

Fuyuhiko is an easy suit with a lot of expression. A black blazer and trousers, white shirt, patterned tie and polished black shoes form the outfit, with a small lapel pin or crest. The short blonde wig is slicked back with a bit of lift at the front. I'd use a little wax on a toothbrush to smooth the sides, which holds better on synthetic fibre than spray alone. Light brow definition and warm contour give the serious face without aging you. A leather-look notebook or slim briefcase works, and black sneakers can stand in for dress shoes if your feet complain.
23. Mahiru Koizumi Cosplay With Green Pinafore Dress

Mahiru is a bright closet costume. Layer a white short-sleeve blouse under a green pinafore with a flared skirt, add a slim brown belt, red knee socks and red loafers or low heels. The short red wig has rounded layers and side-swept bangs. Freckles are optional; a brown brow pencil dotted on and softened with a fingertip looks more natural than liquid liner. Peach blush, brown mascara and coral lips finish the face. A lightweight vintage-style camera on a padded strap is the prop, and pressing the blouse collar so it lies flat over the pinafore makes a real difference.
24. Akane Owari Cosplay With Red Tie

Akane is built for movement, so I'd plan around that. A white short-sleeve blouse with rolled cuffs, a loose red tie, a dark pleated skirt, black knee socks and red athletic shoes make up the outfit. Her extremely long dark-brown wig is styled in loose, untamed waves with layered bangs, and long heavy wigs shift when you're active, so use a firm cap and several hidden pins, especially outdoors in wind. Waterproof mascara, warm bronzer and tinted balm keep the face fresh. Wristbands, a gym towel and a snack container for humorous photos round it out.
25. Kaede Akamatsu Cosplay With Pink Sweater Vest

Kaede's pastel uniform is a cheerful choice for warm weather. Layer a dusty-pink sweater vest over a white blouse with a rounded collar, then add a dark purple pleated skirt, knee socks and brown lace-up shoes. The shoulder-length blonde wig has softly curled ends and a neat side fringe, and the music-note hair clips are a detail people check for. Peach shadow and soft pink lips keep it friendly. A sweater vest that's too long hides the skirt waistband and shortens your legs, so I look for one that ends right at the waist. Carry a sheet-music folder rather than a full instrument.
26. Shuichi Saihara Cosplay With Detective Cap

Shuichi relies on a few dark layers and the cap. Wear a black school jacket with subtle pinstripe accents over a dark shirt and trousers, plus black lace-ups and a matching narrow-brimmed cap. The short navy-black wig is cut into uneven layers that sit under the hat without bulk; I trim the crown thinner than looks right so the cap doesn't perch on top. Soft grey shadow and straight brows give a thoughtful face. A pocket notebook or evidence folder is the prop, and silver buttons or a small crest can liven a plain jacket. He pairs naturally with Kaede, Kaito or Maki.
27. Kokichi Oma Cosplay With Checkered Scarf

Kokichi is mostly a white jacket and one bold scarf. Start with a white military-style jacket with dark straps, buttons and sleeve details, fitted white trousers, a black belt and black boots. The long black-and-white checkered scarf goes around the neck loosely enough to breathe. His short purple wig is tousled into rounded spikes with uneven bangs. If you paint any jacket details, mix the paint with fabric medium, because plain acrylic cracks where the fabric bends. Violet shadow, defined lower lashes and a mischievous grin finish the look, with blank cards or a puzzle box as a light prop.
28. Miu Iruma Cosplay With Pink Skirt And Goggles

Miu combines schoolwear with gear. Wear a white button-down with a pink ribbon and a fitted pink pleated skirt, dark thigh-highs, black boots and a brown faux-leather harness over the shirt. The long blonde wig wants volume and loose waves, and steampunk goggles sit on top of the head, not over the eyes. A harness that's too tight drags the blouse into wrinkles, so I fit it over the finished shirt and leave a finger's room at each strap. Metallic silver liner, pink blush and gloss make the face. A painted cardboard gadget with smoothed edges and no exposed wires is the prop.
29. Kirumi Tojo Cosplay With Black Maid Dress

Kirumi is elegant and very wearable. Choose a long-sleeve black dress with a fitted waist, white collar, layered apron and a below-knee skirt, plus black tights, white gloves and low black boots. Her dark green-black bob has a long fringe over one eye, which limits your view on that side, so I trim it to just below the brow for walking around. Subtle silver or web-shaped trim on the apron adds accuracy. Grey-green shadow, clean liner and muted rose lipstick keep her refined. A folded white cloth or lightweight plastic tray is the prop, and a breathable dress fabric helps on a busy day.
30. Kaito Momota Cosplay With Space Jacket

Kaito's space jacket is the whole costume, and it's visible from far off. Wear a purple tee under a long white jacket with dark panels and a bright purple lining, with fitted black trousers, a wide belt and purple or black high-tops. If your jacket doesn't have that lining, adding one is worth the evening it takes, because the flash of purple when the coat moves is what makes him. His deep-purple wig goes up into big angular spikes over a light base; keep the tallest points flexible so doorways don't crush them. Star patches, a planet pin and a training notebook finish him.
31. Maki Harukawa Cosplay With Red Sailor Uniform

Maki is clean, serious and needs very little crafting. Choose a red sailor-style blouse with black trim and a matching tie, a black pleated skirt, dark thigh-highs and sturdy black boots. Her long black wig goes into two low twin tails with straight bangs and smooth side sections. Long black synthetic hair builds static on dry days and sticks to everything, so an anti-static spray is worth carrying. Burgundy shadow, understated liner and muted red lips set her face, a child-care notebook nods to her public talent, and crossed-arm poses do the rest.
32. Himiko Yumeno Cosplay With Red Mage Dress

Himiko is all about the hat. Wear a red knee-length dress with a dark collar and gold buttons, a short black cape, dark tights and comfortable boots, with a long auburn wig, straight bangs and curled ends. The oversized pointed hat with its wide red band needs structure; I fuse lightweight interfacing to the inside so it stands up without getting heavy, and add a small comb sewn inside the brim to grip the wig. Warm red shadow, freckles and peach blush give her the sleepy face. Oversized playing cards or a fabric rabbit make a sweet prop in group shots.
33. Gonta Gokuhara Cosplay With Brown Suit

Gonta is a gentleman's suit with a naturalist's details. Wear a double-breasted brown jacket, matching trousers, white shirt and green tie, with brown dress shoes, supportive insoles and an insect lapel pin. The thick, long brown wig is styled away from the face and paired with round glasses. Double-breasted jackets look boxy if they're tight across the shoulders, so size up and have the waist taken in rather than squeezing into one that pulls. Warm bronzer and strong brows keep the makeup simple. A large magnifying glass or a clear box of paper butterflies is the prop, and pick a lighter wig fibre so the long hair doesn't overheat you.
34. Tsumugi Shirogane Cosplay With Plaid Skirt

Tsumugi is a fitting pick for anyone who sews, since she's a cosplayer herself. Wear a white collared blouse with a dark bow, a teal plaid pleated skirt, knee socks and brown loafers, with a long straight navy-blue wig parted around blunt bangs and red rectangular glasses. Plaid pleats only look right when the stripes line up at each fold, so if you're making the skirt, plan the pleats on the plaid before cutting. Natural makeup with blue-grey liner keeps the focus on hair and glasses. A measuring tape, swatch book or sewing kit without sharp tools is the prop.
35. K1-B0 Cosplay With White Robot Armor

K1-B0 is the big build here, so start early. Make the base from a white fitted jumpsuit or a long-sleeve top and leggings, then add light foam panels in white and black with blue accents at the chest, shoulders, wrists, knees and boot covers. Design every joint so you can sit; I test each panel by kneeling and climbing a step before I paint it. A short silver-white wig with upward layers, pale foundation and clean blue liner match the robot palette. A foam ear panel or headset beats a full helmet for vision and air. Seal the foam before painting so the white stays smooth, and add small battery lights only where venue rules allow.
Wigs That Hold Spikes, Drills and Pompadours
Danganronpa hair defies gravity more often than not, and synthetic wigs only hold a shape if you give it structure. Product alone makes fibre heavy, sticky and limp by the end of the day.
- Spikes (Kiyotaka, Kaito, Nagito, Kokichi): tease the base of each section, then twist and set with a strong-hold spray and a hairdryer on cool. Work on a wig head pinned at your own head height.
- Pompadours (Mondo): build a light foam or batting shape, pin it inside the wig at the front, and comb the fibre over it.
- Drills (Celestia): wrap sections around rods or tubes and set them with low steam, or sew the curls around light foam cones if they need to last all day.
- Horns (Ibuki): small foam cones covered with the wig's own hair, glued at the base and pinned through the cap.
Synthetic fibre can melt or frizz with heat, so test any hot tool on a hidden underlayer first. Carry spare bobby pins and a small travel spray, because the tallest point always needs a touch-up after a doorway or a hug.
Sailor Collars, Crests and Lapel Symbols
Toko, Sakura, Sayaka, Peko, Maki and Mikan all wear a sailor blouse, and the collar is where a store-bought version usually falls short. Ready-made collars tend to be too narrow, and the stripe trim is often a different width from the character's. If yours is close but not right, a separate sailor collar you sew from a simple pattern and snap or tack under the original is easier than altering the blouse.
For crests and lapel symbols, like Junko's, Makoto's pocket patch or Fuyuhiko's pin, I'd go with iron-on vinyl or an embroidered patch stitched around the edge. Fabric paint can look fine on a flat cotton jacket but tends to crack on knits and stretch fabrics. Press everything once more on the day, collars first, because a crumpled sailor collar is visible in every photo.
Start With the Wig and One Prop
You don't need the most expensive or complicated costume to be recognised. A well-styled wig, the right colours, comfortable shoes and one character prop carry most of these students. If you're starting out, Makoto, Hajime, Tsumugi and Byakuya are kind to beginners; if you want a project, try K1-B0, Celestia, Ibuki or Gundham. Wear everything once at home before the day, pin long wigs properly and check your venue's costume policy. Then adjust the design for your own comfort, because a character you can move and pose in will always look better than a perfect one you can't wait to take off.
