Most of the cast of The Princess Bride can be read from one colour and one prop, which makes it a forgiving film to dress for. I've put together 35 looks from it here: solo characters, couples, kids, groups, families and one for a patient pet. Buttercup's gowns, Westley's black mask, Inigo's brown vest and Fezzik's striped trousers all come together from thrifted or shop-bought pieces. When the leads are taken, Miracle Max, Valerie, Prince Humperdinck and the Rodent of Unusual Size give a group somewhere to go. For each one I've noted the clothes, the hair, the makeup, the shoes I'd actually walk in, and a prop that won't get anyone stopped at the door.

Building the Princess Bride Cast From a Thrift Rail
Almost every character in this film is made of the same few garments: a loose peasant shirt, a long skirt or narrow trousers, a vest, a belt and boots. That's good news, because those are exactly the pieces thrift stores have plenty of. I shop by colour first and shape second, since the colour is what tells people who you are from across a room.
- Peasant shirts: look in the women's blouse section for loose cotton tops with full sleeves. A man's oversized linen shirt works too if you roll the cuffs and add a lace-up tie through the top buttonholes.
- Long skirts and gowns: hold the fabric up to a window. If light shows through it in daylight, it will look thin under party lights, so plan a slip underneath.
- Vests: a plain brown suede-look vest from the menswear rail becomes Inigo's in an evening once you punch eyelets down the front and lace it with cord.
- Belts and sashes: Westley's sash is just a long rectangle of black jersey. Jersey doesn't fray, so you can cut it and wear it without hemming.
For Westley's mask, I cut two layers of black felt to shape, stitch a ribbon tie into each end and leave the eye holes wider than looks right. A mask that sits slightly loose stays comfortable for hours, while one tied tight starts to pinch across the nose bridge by the end of the night.
1. Princess Buttercup Red Dress Costume

Buttercup's red gown is the one people name first, so the colour has to be right. I look for a true tomato or brick red in a matte fabric; shiny satin turns into a generic princess dress under a flash, while cotton or crepe drapes the way it does on screen. You want loose sleeves, a fitted waist and a skirt with real fullness. A narrow gold belt finishes the waist, or wrap red ribbon in metallic craft tape if money is tight. The wig is long, centre-parted and loosely waved. Comb it through with a wide-tooth comb before you leave, because cheap blonde fibre knots at the nape as soon as a cloak rubs against it. Rosy cheeks, a muted pink lip, brown riding boots or plain flats, and a brown cloak over one arm are all it needs.
2. Princess Buttercup Blue Peasant Costume

The blue peasant dress is the gentler Buttercup, and the easier one to find. I'd hunt for a floor-length powder or cornflower blue dress with a lace-up bodice, a scoop neck and full sleeves. No medieval gown on the rail? A blue maxi skirt with a matching puff-sleeve blouse gets you there, as long as the two blues are close; a mismatch looks like two separate outfits. A slim brown belt marks the waist. Loose blonde waves or a golden wig with a middle part, peach blush, brown mascara and a tinted balm keep the face soft. Brown ankle boots handle grass and gravel, and a small woven basket of faux flowers gives your hands a job.
3. Princess Buttercup White Wedding Costume

The wedding gown is the dramatic Buttercup, and it asks more of the fabric than the others. Look for a long white or ivory dress with some texture, such as a brocade, a crinkle cotton or a jacquard, because flat white polyester shows every crease and photographs like a nightie. Fitted sleeves and a high or softly scooped neck keep it medieval. Skip the veil and wear a slim silver or pearl crown instead. Let the blonde waves fall over the shoulders, and go a little brighter on the face with a luminous base, pale pink lipstick and a champagne lid. White ballet flats or a low block heel save your feet, and a small bouquet of cream faux flowers tied with silver ribbon gives you something to hold. Add a Humperdinck, a Clergyman and a few castle attendants and you have the whole wedding scene.
4. Princess Buttercup Red Cloak Costume

This is the Buttercup I'd wear to anything outdoors in October. A long crimson dress with full sleeves goes underneath, and a hooded brown or rust cape layers over it, fastened with a gold clasp, a brooch or a safety pin hidden behind the fold. Pull a few strands of the wig forward so they frame the face under the hood; otherwise the hood swallows the blonde and you lose the character. A light flush on the cheeks suggests a long ride. Brown knee-high boots give far more support than flats on uneven ground. A rolled parchment map tied with twine is a light, safe prop that tucks into the cloak when you need both hands.
5. Princess Buttercup Farm Dress Costume

The farm-girl Buttercup comes straight out of most wardrobes. A cream puff-sleeve blouse, a long brown, tan or muted floral skirt, a fitted rust vest and a narrow leather-look belt are the whole outfit. Wear the hair half up and relaxed, or use a wavy wig. Makeup barely matters here: tinted moisturiser, mascara and a peach lip. Lace-up brown boots look old-fashioned and still walk well. A small basket with fabric flowers, apples or a folded cloth gives the hands something to do. I suggest this one for school or office dress-up days, since nothing about it breaks a dress code.
6. Westley Farm Boy Costume

Farm boy Westley is barely a costume, which is exactly why it's comfortable. A loose cream or oatmeal peasant shirt with a lace-up neck, slim brown trousers, a wide dark belt and scuffed knee-high boots do most of the work. A light brown vest adds texture if the shirt looks thin. Style blonde hair back off the face or wear a short, slightly tousled golden wig. I'd add a touch of brow definition and nothing else. A burlap sack or a wooden-look bucket tells people he works the farm. Pair him with Buttercup in her blue peasant dress or her farm clothes and the 'as you wish' story tells itself.
7. Dread Pirate Roberts Black Costume

The Dread Pirate Roberts gives you the most recognition for the fewest pieces. A black lace-up shirt, fitted black trousers, a wide sash, a structured belt, black gloves, tall boots and a lightweight head scarf. The mask is the piece I fuss over. It should sit across the eyes only, with eye holes cut generously, because a narrow opening cuts your side vision more than people expect and you end up turning your whole head to see a step. Let a little blonde show under the scarf, or wear a short wig. Clean skin with a touch of contour around the eyes is enough. Swap the sword for a black pouch and a coil of rope on the belt. Teens and kids can wear it too, as long as every piece fits snugly enough not to slip.
8. Westley Fire Swamp Costume

Fire Swamp Westley is the classic black look after a bad day. Start with a black peasant shirt, narrow black trousers, sash belt, gloves, mask and tall boots, then add a charcoal cape with a ragged hem. Cut that hem above the ankle; a trailing ragged edge catches heels on every step. A black head wrap with a few blonde strands showing works better here than the neat scarf. For the grime, I stipple a gray-brown eyeshadow along the cheekbones and the edges of the clothes with a dry sponge, which reads as soot without looking like an injury. Rope, a canvas pouch and a few fabric leaves stitched to the cloak suggest the setting, and the whole thing stays friendly enough for a family party.
9. Westley Rescue Costume

The castle rescue Westley is the looser, more movable version of the pirate. I'd pick a relaxed black shirt with billowing sleeves, soft black trousers, and a wide fabric sash wrapped twice around the waist so it holds without a buckle. Flexible black boots, thin gloves and the eye mask finish it. A loose black head scarf over the hair is kinder than a tight cap if you're wearing it for hours. A little taupe shading under the cheekbones gives the tired, determined face. Hang a small drawstring pouch from the sash and carry a castle plan drawn on kraft paper. Because nothing is stiff, it's the version I'd wear to a busy party or for a group skit.
10. Inigo Montoya Brown Vest Costume

Inigo lives or dies on the hair. A shoulder-length dark brown wig with loose waves needs shaping before you wear it: I pull it onto a head form or a tall bottle, separate the waves with my fingers and mist it lightly so it sits wild rather than flat. The clothes are simple layers: a loose white peasant shirt, a fitted brown vest with front lacing, taupe trousers, a broad belt and knee-high brown boots. A neatly trimmed costume mustache and a little brown brow powder finish the face. Leave the sword at home, attach an empty decorative belt loop, and carry a card printed with his famous introduction so people can quote it back to you. Fingerless gloves add texture. Stand him beside a Fezzik, a Westley or a Vizzini and nobody has to ask.
11. Inigo Montoya Black Cloak Costume

Put a long black cloak over Inigo's brown and white clothes and he gets moody fast. Underneath: a cream lace-up shirt, brown vest, fitted neutral trousers, wide belt and sturdy boots. The cloak should fall below the knee and stay well clear of the floor. Same wavy brunette wig, narrow dark mustache, slightly defined brows and a little warm brown shading around the eyes. My favourite detail is a six-fingered glove tucked into the belt, which fans will spot at once and which isn't frightening at all. A rolled parchment note is a second safe prop. It's a warm option for an outdoor night or a big group.
12. Fezzik Striped Tunic Costume

Fezzik is comfortable to wear and easy to spot, because everything is oversized. Loose blue-and-cream striped trousers, a long tan or brown tunic and a wide belt or thick rope sash to cinch it. Tall boots aren't essential; brown boot covers over flat shoes look the same from a few feet away. A dark curly wig and full brown sideburns carry the face, with warm neutral makeup so he looks friendly rather than fierce. A fabric wrist cuff adds a bit of detail. For the boulder, I carve a lump of upholstery foam, seal it with a thin coat of glue and paint, and it weighs almost nothing. Pick breathable cotton for the tunic, because a roomy polyester top gets very warm in a crowded room.
13. Fezzik Black Cloak Costume

When the forecast is cold, this is the Fezzik I'd suggest. A roomy hooded cloak goes over the striped trousers, brown tunic and broad belt. Check the shoulders before you buy: a cloak cut for a narrow frame pulls tight across the back the moment you lift your arms. The hem should reach the ankle without dragging. Flat brown boots or cushioned shoes under boot covers, a thick curly dark wig and big sideburns. Blend the edges of the sideburns into the skin with a little soft brown shadow so they don't look stuck on. Carry a coil of light rope over one shoulder or a foam rock painted cool gray. Anyone can wear it, since the layers build the giant's silhouette whatever your height.
14. Vizzini Purple Tunic Costume

Vizzini brings the colour and the comedy to a group. A long purple or burgundy tunic with an oversized collar goes over black leggings or tapered trousers, with a wide black belt, a short dark cape and soft black ankle boots. The bald cap is where people struggle. Put it on over hair slicked flat with gel, trim the edge close to the hairline, and blend the seam with foundation; a ring of dark curls around the sides then hides most of the join. A character wig built in that shape is easier if you've never worn a cap. Strong brows and warm cheek contour help the face read at a distance. Carry two covered decorative cups on a light tray and a pouch of blank cards for his schemes. He belongs next to an Inigo and a Fezzik.
15. Prince Humperdinck Purple Costume

Humperdinck should look starched and a little too pleased with himself. A deep purple tunic or knee-length coat with a high collar and a fitted waist, black leggings, tall riding boots and a wide metallic belt. A short brown wig in neat curls shows how much time he spends on his appearance. Keep the makeup matte, with defined brows and restrained contour for the stern expression. Dark gloves and a small gold crown or jeweled band finish him off, and a rolled proclamation tied with purple ribbon takes the place of a weapon. It's a good villain for someone who wants no scary makeup at all, and he pairs naturally with Buttercup in her wedding gown.
16. Prince Humperdinck Wedding Costume

For the wedding, Humperdinck dresses up. A burgundy or plum velvet-look coat over a black high-neck shirt and slim black trousers, with a decorative gold belt, tall boots and fitted gloves. Velvet-look fabric crushes when you sit, so I'd hang the coat until you leave and steam it rather than iron it. Style short brown hair into controlled waves or use a wig with volume at the sides. Strong brows and light contour, nothing more. A small gold crown and a faux jeweled brooch at the collar, plus a folded wedding programme in one hand. Put him with Buttercup's white gown, the Clergyman and a few attendants and the whole ceremony is there.
17. Count Rugen Six-Fingered Costume

Count Rugen is a fan's costume, and one detail carries it. The clothes are aristocratic and dark: a deep green or charcoal tunic under a long brown vest or sleeveless coat, fitted black trousers, tall brown boots, leather-look gloves and a wide belt. A short light-brown wig, smoothly side-parted, and reserved makeup with sharp brows. For the sixth finger, I stuff a spare glove finger with a little fibrefill and stitch it to the outside of the right glove beside the little finger, so it bends and nobody gets poked. Carry a small notebook for his castle 'research'. He's the character that lets a large group grow past the heroes.
18. Miracle Max Costume

Miracle Max is all texture and attitude. A long brown robe or an oversized cardigan goes over a rumpled cream shirt and loose dark trousers, tied with a rope belt, with brown slippers or soft boots. A frizzy gray wig with a balding top, bushy brows and a round gray beard set the age. For the lines, I draw thin strokes of brown shadow where the skin naturally creases when you frown or smile, then soften them with a fingertip; drawn lines that don't follow your own creases look like pen marks. Carry a covered wooden-look bowl and an oversized spoon, and hang a few small fabric pouches from the belt as his supplies. Keep everything light and closed. Valerie beside him makes it twice as funny.
19. Valerie Layered Dress Costume

Valerie is the easiest costume here to thrift. A long rust, brown or muted green skirt and a loose cream blouse form the base. Over that go a contrasting shawl, a patterned apron and a fitted vest, with lace-up boots and a few fabric pouches at the waist. Mismatched prints are the point, so don't try to coordinate them. A loosely curled gray wig sits under a soft head wrap or small cap. Rosy blush, exaggerated brows and a few gentle age lines keep her expressive without being unkind. A covered basket of faux herbs and fabric flowers is her prop. With Miracle Max she makes one of the funniest couples in the film.
20. The Albino Hooded Costume

The Albino is simple to make and stays gentle on the eye. A long cream, gray or off-white robe goes over matching loose trousers, tied with a fabric belt you've frayed with a few scissor snips. Soft gray boots or plain slip-ons. The wig is long, white-blonde, thin and a bit messy. Pale foundation, white brow colour and cool gray eyeshadow do the rest; keep the face clean and skip anything graphic. Light foundation shows every fingerprint on a pale robe, so dust your face with setting powder and dress before you do the makeup. Leave the large hood loose so the hair shows, and hang a big ring of light costume keys and a rolled parchment list from the belt. It fills out a castle group nicely.
21. Princess Bride Clergyman Costume

The Clergyman gets a laugh every time, and he's quick to build. A long white or cream robe with wide sleeves and simple gold trim, plus the tall white hat. I make the hat from stiff felt rolled into a cone and stitched up the back, with a strip of elastic inside so it stays put when you nod; foam works too but bends in a warm room. Check it doesn't sit low over the eyes. Neutral trousers and white or tan shoes go under the robe. A short gray wig, a round gray beard and light age lines around the eyes and forehead, with a cheerful expression. Cover an old notebook in gold paper for the wedding book. Put him in a wedding group with Buttercup, Humperdinck and a few guests in medieval clothes.
22. Yellin Castle Guard Costume

Yellin, the castle guard, suits anyone who wants a quiet supporting role. A dark gray or brown tunic over a black long-sleeve shirt and fitted trousers, with a broad belt, a structured shoulder cape and tall boots. The wrist guards are craft foam; warm them with a hairdryer and wrap them around a bottle while they cool, so they curve instead of sitting flat. Neat short brown or gray hair goes under a soft medieval cap. Natural makeup, defined brows and a little contour. A big ring of foam keys on the belt and a clipboard with his security list, plus a small gold felt crest on the chest. It's practical clothing, so it works for teens and adults who'd rather skip the gowns and wigs.
23. Grandfather Storyteller Costume

The Grandfather is the easiest costume on the list, and it's warm. A beige button-down, a brown cardigan, dark trousers and loafers or slippers. Comb a gray wig neatly to one side and add a few soft age lines around the forehead and eyes if you like. The storybook matters most: a large hardcover with a red or brown cover, with a title cut from cardstock and tucked into a paper jacket so the real book isn't damaged. Reading glasses and a folded handkerchief in the cardigan pocket. On its own it can look like a grandad in a cardigan, so I'd always pair him with the Grandson or stand him among the story's characters. Teachers love it for book days.
24. Grandson Pajama Costume

The Grandson is pyjamas, which is why kids agree to it. Striped or plain pyjamas, a T-shirt and a soft robe in blue, gray or burgundy. Thick socks and house slippers with non-slip soles, which matter more than anything else if he's walking on a hall floor. Hair as it is, face bare or with a little powder for photos. A hardcover storybook and a handheld game made from painted cardboard tell the story, and a blanket round the shoulders makes it cosy. It's an easy pick for a school spirit day or a last-minute party. Stand him next to the Grandfather so people get the scene straight away.
25. Rodent Of Unusual Size Costume

The Rodent of Unusual Size is the surprise costume in this film. Start with a fuzzy brown hooded jumpsuit or a matching sweatshirt and joggers, then add a soft tan belly panel, rounded felt ears and a long padded tail. I sew the tail to a loop of elastic at the waist rather than to the fabric, so it doesn't drag the trousers down, and keep it short enough to stay off the floor. Brown gloves and matching sneakers or flat boots. A small black nose, a few whiskers and brown shadow on the cheeks are plenty. A shaggy faux fur hood means no wig. Carry a few foam leaves for the Fire Swamp. For a child, check that the hood doesn't block side vision and that the fabric breathes.
26. Buttercup And Westley Couple Costume

Buttercup and Westley are the romantic pair everyone expects, and they're easy to get right. One wears the red medieval gown with a gold belt, long blonde waves, rosy makeup and brown boots. The other wears the black lace-up shirt, fitted trousers, sash, gloves, boots, head scarf and mask. A rope coil or rolled map is your shared prop. Choose shoes for hours, not minutes, because a long gown and layered black clothes both get tiring. The contrast is what makes it: her red needs to be bright and his black needs to be truly black, not faded, or the two blur together in photos. Any pairing of genders works, and the pieces can be thrifted, sewn or bought.
27. Inigo Montoya And Fezzik Duo Costume

Inigo and Fezzik are a great duo for friends or siblings who'd rather not do a romantic couple. Inigo: white peasant shirt, brown lace-up vest, neutral trousers, wide belt, boots, a shoulder-length brunette wig and a narrow mustache. Fezzik: loose blue-striped trousers, a tan tunic, broad belt, a dark curly wig, sideburns and brown boots. Inigo gets the printed introduction card; Fezzik gets the foam boulder or a coil of rope. Keep both in warm browns and creams so they sit together in a photo. Height doesn't matter. The clothes, hair and props say who you are far more than your size does.
28. Miracle Max And Valerie Couple Costume

Miracle Max and Valerie are the couple for people who'd rather get laughs than look romantic. Max wears a rumpled cream shirt, brown robe, rope belt, loose trousers, slippers, a frizzy gray wig, a beard and expressive age makeup. Valerie wears a cream blouse, layered skirt, patterned apron, vest and shawl, with gray curls, rosy cheeks and lace-up boots. Share the props between you: covered bowls, faux herbs, big spoons and fabric pouches. Keep real food and drink out of the bowls in a crowd. A thrift store is the best place to find the clashing textures both outfits need. It suits a pair who enjoy bickering in character all evening.
29. Vizzini Inigo And Fezzik Group Costume

Vizzini, Inigo and Fezzik are the original travelling trio. Vizzini wears a purple tunic, black trousers, a short cape, soft boots and a bald cap ringed with dark hair. Inigo wears his white shirt, brown vest, belt, neutral trousers, boots, brunette wig and mustache. Fezzik wears the blue-striped trousers, a roomy tan tunic, wide belt, brown boots, a curly wig and sideburns. Give Vizzini a covered cup, Inigo his printed card and Fezzik a foam boulder. Keep the props light, because you'll pose for a lot of photos. The three heights, colours and shapes read as a set even when the clothes are cheap basics.
30. Westley Inigo And Fezzik Hero Group Costume

Swap Vizzini for Westley and you have the heroes' trio, with more contrast. Westley is in fitted black with a sash, tall boots, gloves, head scarf and mask. Inigo brings warmth with a cream peasant shirt, brown vest, taupe trousers, boots, long brunette wig and mustache. Fezzik is the biggest shape in loose striped trousers, a long tan tunic, broad belt, curly wig and dark sideburns. Props stay safe: parchment plans, rope, costume keys and a foam rock. If the boots are decorative covers, put supportive trainers underneath. Three friends get coordinated outfits this way without matching clothes or sharing one awkward costume.
31. Princess Bride Royal Wedding Group Costume

Buttercup's unwanted wedding makes a good group. Buttercup wears an ivory medieval gown, blonde waves, a silver crown, pale makeup and white flats. Humperdinck wears a burgundy velvet-look coat, black trousers, tall boots, gloves, styled brown hair and a gold crown. The Clergyman is in a white robe, tall hat, gray beard and plain shoes, carrying a decorative wedding book. Anyone else can be a guard in a gray tunic, cape, belt and boots. Cream flowers, rolled proclamations and light keys finish the props. Leave out modern bridal touches like a tulle veil or a sweetheart neckline, which pull it out of the storybook. Four or more people make it work, and the photos come out full of colour.
32. Princess Bride Fire Swamp Family Costume

A Fire Swamp family puts Buttercup and Westley with one or more rodents. Buttercup wears the red gown, brown hooded cloak, blonde wig, soft makeup and sturdy boots. Westley is in black from head to toe: shirt, trousers, sash, mask, head scarf, gloves and boots. The kids wear fuzzy brown hooded sets with felt ears, tan belly panels, padded tails, drawn whiskers and brown sneakers, though an adult can be a rodent too. Foam leaves, fabric vines and a rolled map set the scene. Short tails and capes that clear the ground keep everyone upright. The adults get the elegant outfits and the children get the comfortable, silly ones, which is usually how both sides want it.
33. Princess Bride Full Cast Group Costume

A big group can cover nearly the whole cast, as long as everyone's colour is different. Buttercup in red, Westley in black, Inigo in brown and cream, Fezzik in stripes, Vizzini in purple, Humperdinck in burgundy, and Miracle Max and Valerie in rustic layers. Extra people can be the Clergyman, Count Rugen, castle guards, rodents, the Grandfather or the Grandson. Let each person's own clothes guide the shoes: boots, flats, slippers or trainers to suit the role. Wigs, mustaches, crowns, masks, shawls, keys, books and parchment do the identifying. I hand out characters by what people are happy wearing, not by gender or build, and the group ends up far more relaxed in the photos.
34. Kids Buttercup Westley And Inigo Costume

Three kids can be Buttercup, Westley and Inigo in clothes they can actually run in. Buttercup wears a soft red maxi dress, a ribbon belt, a blonde wig or her own hair, a little rosy makeup and flat brown boots. Westley wears a black cotton shirt, stretchy trousers, a fabric sash, a soft fabric eye mask, a head scarf and sneakers under boot covers. Inigo wears a cream shirt, a brown felt vest, elastic-waist trousers, boots, a lightweight brunette wig and a mustache drawn in washable makeup, which survives longer than a stick-on one on a child's lip. Give them a basket, a rope loop and a printed card. Hem everything above the ankle, avoid stiff masks, and leave off small pieces that can come loose. They'll still be recognisable after an hour of trick-or-treating.
35. Westley And Pet Rodent Costume

A pet can join in as a Rodent of Unusual Size next to its Westley. The owner wears a black lace-up shirt, fitted trousers, sash, gloves, soft boots, head scarf, mask and short blonde wig, with a rolled map and small rope coil. The pet wears a light brown harness costume with soft rounded ears and a tan back panel, and nothing more. No face coverings, no shoes, no dangling tail, nothing that changes how it walks. Let the animal wear the harness around the house for a few short sessions before the night. It only suits calm pets that already tolerate clothing, and it comes off the moment they seem unhappy. Keep them supervised the whole time.
Long Hems, Hoods and Stick-On Mustaches After Dark
The gowns and cloaks in these looks are what make them read as storybook, and they're also what causes trouble once you're out for the evening. A few habits keep everyone comfortable until the last photo.
Hems on stairs and wet grass
I hem a floor-length gown so it just clears the top of the shoe while you stand barefoot in your chosen footwear, never while you're in socks. If the night is damp, a skirt that touches grass soaks up water and gets heavier by the hour. Hold the front of the skirt in one hand on stairs; it's how the women in the film move, and it keeps your toes off the fabric.
Wigs under hoods and scarves
A hood rubs on a synthetic wig all night and the ends turn to frizz. Spray a light mist of fabric softener and water through the lengths before you go, and pin the wig at the crown so the hood doesn't drag it backwards. Westley's head scarf is kinder to your own hair if you tie it over a thin cotton cap.
Mustaches, beards and sideburns
Costume facial hair usually comes with a weak adhesive that lets go when you eat or laugh. Clean the skin with a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad first, and keep a spare strip of the adhesive in a pocket. Patch-test any new adhesive on the inner arm a day before, and peel it off slowly with an oil-based remover rather than ripping it.
A Red Gown and a Black Mask Go a Long Way
The Princess Bride rewards a light hand. Buttercup and Westley are the classics, but Inigo, Fezzik, Valerie and Miracle Max are just as fun, and the supporting cast, family groups, kids' sets and pet version mean nobody has to sit out. Get each character's colour, shape and hair right, add one or two safe props, and people will know who you are. You don't need a replica. Thrifted clothes, a bit of simple sewing, craft foam, ribbon and a well-brushed wig go a long way. Spend your effort on shoes you can stand in all night and on props that won't fall off, and shape each costume around the person wearing it.
