Vampire style works best when it looks like clothing first and a costume second. The forty outfits here lean on rich texture, dark color, sharp tailoring and a few antique-feeling accessories: black velvet, burgundy satin, lace sleeves, fitted trousers, long coats, pointed boots and silver jewelry. Keep the mood quiet for daytime, or turn up the makeup and layers for parties, concerts and gothic nights out. I build each of these around one dark statement piece and let the rest stay simple, which is also what keeps them comfortable and easy to adjust for your shape. They run from casual vampirecore to formal Victorian-inspired dressing, with hair, makeup, shoes and bag suggested for every one.

Three Signals That Make Plain Clothes Look Vampire
None of the outfits below rely on capes or fangs. What makes them read as vampire is a short list of signals, and I aim for two or three of them in each outfit, never all at once.
- A high or framed neckline: a turtleneck, mock neck, lace collar, square neck or a velvet ribbon at the throat.
- One deep red, such as burgundy, wine or oxblood, in a single garment or accessory set against black.
- A fabric that catches light: velvet, satin or lace, one at a time so they don't compete.
- Antique-feeling silver, like a cameo, a brooch, a pendant or drop earrings, rather than gold.
- A long line from pointed boots, a long coat or a maxi hem.
Makeup ties the signals together. A defined eye and a berry, wine or plum lip take a plain outfit most of the way. The mistake I'd avoid is piling everything on: a velvet dress with a lace collar, a cape, a choker and a red lip turns into a costume. Pick the signals that suit where you're going and leave the rest.
1. Black Velvet Vampire Outfit

Velvet midi dresses are the classic starting point, and the neckline decides how vampire the dress reads. A square neckline with long sleeves and a softly shaped waist feels old-world without tipping into costume. Sheer black tights and pointed ankle boots keep the line sleek, and a burgundy mini bag adds one controlled touch of color. Loose waves or a smooth low bun, soft smoky shadow and deep berry lipstick suit it, with silver drop earrings and a thin choker. Throw a tailored black coat over the top for cover. One thing I check in the fitting room: velvet attracts lint and pet hair like nothing else, so pack a lint roller for dinners and photos.
2. Burgundy Satin Vampire Outfit

Satin catches light, so it's the piece to wear where people see you up close. Tuck a long-sleeve burgundy satin blouse into high-waisted black wide-leg trousers; the fluid top against structured pants is what makes this flattering. Pointed black pumps or heeled ankle boots suit the occasion. A black velvet headband and small silver earrings add refined details, and smooth, glossy hair with a center part or low ponytail matches the shine. Defined liner, cool-toned blush and berry lipstick make a wearable vampy face, with a structured black handbag. Thin satin shows every crease and damp patch, so I choose a heavier weight or wear a light camisole underneath.
3. Lace Blouse Vampire Outfit

Lace blouses look best over a plain black camisole, because the sheer pattern stays tasteful and the scratchy seams don't sit against your skin. Pair the blouse with a floor-skimming burgundy skirt that moves as you walk, and join the two with a wide velvet belt at the waist. Black lace-up boots with a manageable block heel, an antique-style pendant and small rings carry the gothic side. Soft curls, pale neutral foundation, gray shadow and muted plum lipstick add the theme without theater, and a compact black shoulder bag is the right size. I keep the lace on top only here; lace above and below starts to look like a costume.
4. Victorian Vampire Outfit

Old-world detail comes from the blouse. A high-neck ivory blouse with ruffles or pintucks, tucked into a long black A-line skirt with a fitted burgundy waistcoat on top, reads Victorian without a single costume piece. Black button boots or lace-up ankle boots keep the period feel and stay comfortable. A low twisted bun with a few face-framing pieces, softly powdered skin, defined brows, subtle gray shadow and dark rose lipstick finish the face, with a cameo-style brooch, delicate gloves and a structured top-handle bag. Every piece can come from vintage or thrift racks, and that's where I'd look first for the waistcoat, since secondhand suiting is usually better made than new costume versions.
5. Casual Jeans Vampire Outfit

What if you want vampire style without dressing up at all? Fitted black jeans, a dark red ribbed top and a long black cardigan get you there. A high neckline or slightly flared sleeves add the gothic shape and stay practical. Black Chelsea boots or platform loafers, several thin silver necklaces with one small moon or bat charm, and a black crossbody bag handle the details. Straight hair, a sleek ponytail or relaxed waves all suit it, with smudged liner and a tinted berry lip balm. This is the one I'd wear for coffee, errands or a school event, because it's really a dark-red-and-black outfit with good jewelry.
6. Leather Jacket Vampire Outfit

A black leather jacket gives vampire dressing a rebellious edge, and it's the reason a flowing midi skirt doesn't feel too formal here. Layer it over a fitted burgundy mock-neck and a black midi skirt, with black combat boots and patterned tights if it's cool. A silver chain necklace, dark stud earrings and a compact shoulder bag add quiet shine. A high ponytail or loose textured waves, smudged charcoal liner and wine-colored lipstick keep the mood wearable. I'd pick a jacket that ends at the natural waist, since a longer moto jacket cuts the skirt at an awkward point. It's a warm option for concerts and outdoor events.
7. Black Corset Top Vampire Outfit

Corset-style tops look elegant instead of costume-like when everything around them is tailored. Choose one with comfortable straps, or layer it over a sheer long-sleeve blouse, and add high-waisted burgundy trousers with a wide or straight leg. Pointed black flats keep it practical, and heeled boots dress it up. A small velvet choker, silver earrings and a structured mini bag are enough next to that bodice. Soft waves or a polished bun, winged liner, light contour and deep rose lipstick finish the face. Fit matters most: a boned top has to let you breathe and sit, so I always sit down in one before buying, because a top that's fine standing can dig in at the hips once you're seated.
8. Red Maxi Skirt Vampire Outfit

A sweeping dark red maxi skirt brings color and movement. Pair it with a fitted black turtleneck or long-sleeve bodysuit and cinch the waist with a black belt with a plain silver buckle. A bodysuit stays tucked far better than a tee, which matters in a long skirt you'll be walking in all evening. Add pointed ankle boots, a short black coat and a small velvet handbag. A deep side part with smooth waves, gray-brown shadow, defined lashes and muted burgundy lipstick keep it romantic, and a slim pendant breaks up the high neckline. Check that the hem clears the ground in your boots before the night.
9. Vampire Blazer Outfit

Tailoring is the quietest way to bring vampire energy into an everyday wardrobe. A fitted black blazer goes over a burgundy silk camisole and high-waisted black trousers, and a longer hem or lightly defined shoulders give it a stronger silhouette. Pointed loafers or low-heeled boots and a dark red handbag keep the palette tight, while a silver brooch on the lapel adds an antique note. A smooth low ponytail, crisp liner and a soft plum lip finish it. You probably own most of these pieces already. Swapping your usual bag for a dark red one is often the single change that turns office clothes into the look.
10. Black Slip Dress Vampire Outfit

A slip dress turns vampire with texture underneath it. Put a fitted burgundy mesh or lace top under the black slip for coverage and color, then add semi-sheer tights and pointed knee-high boots for a long, narrow line. A velvet ribbon choker and silver drop earrings bring gothic detail, and a cropped black cardigan or tailored coat covers you when it's cold. Loose waves, cool-toned eyes and a dark berry lip stain, with a structured black bag instead of a tote, keep it polished. Slip dresses cling to tights, so I rub a little lotion on my legs or use an anti-static spray before dressing. It moves easily from dinner to a themed party.
11. Pleated Skirt Vampire Outfit

A black pleated midi skirt gives elegant movement and is easy to wear all day. Tuck in a fitted burgundy sweater with a mock neck or subtle balloon sleeves to keep the waist defined, and add opaque black tights with polished platform loafers or ankle boots. A slim black belt, silver pendant and vintage-style handbag finish the outfit. Straight hair with a middle part or a tidy half-up style, soft smoky eyes and cranberry lipstick add just enough drama. Chunky knits push pleats out at the hip, so I choose a fine-gauge sweater for this. It suits daytime events, school celebrations and museum visits where a full costume would be too much.
12. Long Coat Vampire Outfit

Few pieces create a vampire silhouette as well as a long black coat, and this is where I'd spend money if anywhere. Look for a defined collar, tailored shoulders and a hem below the knee, and wear it over a dark red fitted knit with black straight-leg pants. Pointed ankle boots continue the long line. Leather gloves, a structured burgundy bag and silver earrings add old-world polish, while smooth waves or a neat low bun, a thin line of black liner and plum lipstick keep the face refined. Check the coat from the side in a mirror; one that pulls across the back looks cheap whatever the fabric. It earns its keep on cold nights and city walks.
13. Velvet Blazer Vampire Outfit

Burgundy velvet makes a tailored blazer feel rich, so I keep everything else smooth to let that texture stand out. Wear it over a black satin camisole with fitted black trousers, the soft shine balancing the structure. Black pumps, pointed flats or sleek ankle boots work depending on comfort, with a black mini bag and a few silver rings. A polished updo or smooth waves, softly smoky eyes, defined lashes and dark rose lipstick finish it. Velvet crushes where you sit and lean, so at a long dinner I'd hang the blazer on the back of the chair. It suits evening receptions, concerts and formal gothic nights.
14. White Blouse Vampire Outfit

An ivory or white blouse brightens a vampire outfit while keeping its old-fashioned feel. Look for puffed sleeves, a high collar or a small ruffled front, and pair it with a fitted black midi skirt and a burgundy waist belt. Pointed lace-up boots add gothic structure without hurting your feet. A black velvet ribbon at the neck, silver studs and a vintage-shaped bag fit the mood, with a braided bun or loose curls. Charcoal liner, cool pink blush and wine lipstick contrast with the pale blouse. Put the lipstick on after the blouse is buttoned, or pick one that opens down the front; dark lipstick on a white collar is stubborn to remove.
15. Mini Dress Vampire Outfit

A long-sleeve black mini dress gives a younger vampire look, and opaque black tights are what keep it balanced. Choose one with a high neckline and slightly flared skirt, then add burgundy knee-high boots for color. Knee-high boots should finish just below the kneecap; any higher and they rub every time you sit. A fitted black coat goes over the top when it's cool. A silver pendant, velvet hair bow and small top-handle bag add romantic details, with a half-up style and soft curls. Smoky brown shadow, winged liner and a berry lip keep the face defined but wearable for parties, concerts and nights out with friends.
16. Wide-Leg Pants Vampire Outfit

Wide-leg pants are the comfortable answer to a long gown, and the hem decides your shoes. Hem them to just skim the floor in the exact pair you'll wear, heeled ankle boots or pointed flats, because the same trousers will drag in one and look short in the other. A fitted burgundy wrap top or square-neck long-sleeve blouse balances the volume below. A long silver necklace and a black velvet clutch add gothic texture. A sleek center part or low braided ponytail, softly smudged liner and a satin plum lip finish the look. It's a strong swap for a dress at dinners, office parties and concerts.
17. Red Sweater Vampire Outfit

A dark red sweater is the easiest way into casual vampire dressing. Pick a fitted knit with a mock neck, flared cuffs or delicate shoulder detail, and pair it with a black faux-leather midi skirt, cozy against polished. Opaque tights and sturdy ankle boots handle the cold, while a long black coat, silver earrings and a structured handbag finish the layers. Faux-leather skirts can squeak and crease across the lap, so I look for a softer, matte finish. A loose low ponytail with face-framing strands, gray liner and a soft blackberry lip keep heavy costume makeup out of it. It's everyday fall wear with a vampire accent.
18. Gothic Jumpsuit Vampire Outfit

A black jumpsuit is a head-to-toe base in one piece, which makes getting dressed fast. Choose a tailored one with long sleeves, a defined waist and a wide or straight leg, then break up the black with a burgundy velvet belt. Pointed boots and a cropped fitted jacket sharpen the outline. Silver drop earrings, a small black clutch and dark polished nails finish the details, with hair slicked into a low bun or ponytail, smoky gray shadow and deep red lipstick. The one real drawback is the bathroom, so before committing to a jumpsuit for a long night, I make sure I can reach the zip on my own.
19. Black Turtleneck Vampire Outfit

Minimal dressing still reads vampire when the colors and shapes are deliberate. A fitted black turtleneck, a burgundy satin midi skirt and pointed black knee-high boots do it: the high neck feels mysterious and the satin adds movement and shine. Wear a long black coat and carry a structured leather bag, with silver drop earrings or one statement ring. Straight glossy hair or a smooth low bun, sharp liner, cool-toned foundation and berry lipstick finish the face. A thin, fine-knit turtleneck tucks smoothly into satin, while a bulky one bunches at the waistband. It goes to dinner or a work celebration without looking like a costume.
20. Lace Midi Dress Vampire Outfit

Lace does most of the styling here. Choose a black midi dress lined through the body with sheer lace only at the sleeves or neckline, and add burgundy heels or dark red ankle boots for a rich accent. A small velvet clutch, silver earrings and a simple choker give enough gothic detail. Soft side-swept waves or a neat low updo, defined lashes, lightly shaded cheekbones and a smooth plum lip keep it graceful, and a tailored coat layers over it when needed. Lace snags on bracelets and bag chains, so with this dress I keep jewelry at the ears and neck.
21. Denim Skirt Vampire Outfit

A black denim maxi skirt makes vampire dressing practical for daytime. Pair it with a burgundy long-sleeve top with a square neckline or fitted rib, and add a cropped black jacket to mark the waist and keep you warm. Platform loafers, lace-up boots or sleek sneakers all work depending on the plans. Silver hoops, stacked rings and a compact shoulder bag, plus straight hair with a deep side part, give a sharper mood, while smudged liner and berry lip balm keep makeup easy. A denim maxi needs a slit to walk comfortably; without one you'll be taking tiny steps all day. It's good for campus events, shopping and weekend outings.
22. Burgundy Dress Vampire Outfit

A burgundy midi dress gives rich color with the restraint vampire style needs. Choose a long-sleeve wrap dress or a fitted design with a softly flared skirt, and ground it with black knee-high boots for cooler weather. A long tailored coat, a black belt and antique-shaped silver earrings carry the theme, with a structured black handbag. Loose curls or a low twisted bun, soft charcoal shadow and dark rose lipstick suit the dress without overdoing it. I hold a burgundy up to my face in daylight before buying, because some shades lean brown and some lean purple, and the purple-leaning ones usually look more vampire. It suits dinners, parties and theater outings.
23. Black Cape Coat Vampire Outfit

A cape-style coat brings drama on its own, so keep everything underneath slim: a fitted burgundy sweater and black cigarette pants. A bulky base under a cape makes you look twice as wide. Pointed ankle boots and a small structured bag keep it elegant. Leather gloves are practical as well as stylish here, since cape coats leave your arms open to the cold. Silver stud earrings, a sleek ponytail or hair tucked behind the ears to show the neckline, defined brows, soft gray liner and a berry lip stain finish it. It's one of the most practical choices for outdoor events, city evenings and fall festivals.
24. Plaid Skirt Vampire Outfit

A black-and-burgundy plaid midi skirt gives a slightly preppy take on vampirecore. Pair it with a fitted black mock-neck top and a cropped burgundy cardigan, then add opaque tights, chunky loafers and a structured satchel for the vintage mood. A velvet headband, silver pendant and small studs are enough. Straight, softly curled or neat half-up hair, brown-black liner and muted cranberry lipstick keep the gothic definition subtle. I look for a plaid where burgundy is the main color rather than a thin stripe, or the skirt reads as a school uniform instead. It works across ages for school events, fall outings and daytime plans.
25. Pencil Skirt Vampire Outfit

A fitted black pencil skirt is the base for an office-friendly vampire. Add a burgundy blouse with a high neckline, gathered shoulders or subtle lace trim, tuck it in neatly and define the waist with a narrow black belt. Pointed pumps or low-heeled ankle boots give a sharp finish, and a fitted black blazer adds structure. A silver brooch, small handbag and polished low bun, with thin liner, soft brows and muted plum lipstick, keep it refined. Pencil skirts need a back vent or some stretch for stairs and sitting, so I check that first. It's understated enough for a workplace Halloween event or a formal lunch.
26. Layered Mesh Vampire Outfit

Mesh looks modern and tasteful when there's a high-coverage camisole under it. Pair the black mesh top with burgundy high-waisted trousers and a longline black vest; the vest adds structure and leaves the textured sleeves showing. Pointed ankle boots, a compact black crossbody and a silver collar necklace or short chain to fill the open vest front finish the details. A smooth high ponytail, smoky liner and a dark berry lip stain match the edge. Mesh runs the moment it catches on a ring or zipper, so I take jewelry off before pulling it over my head. It's a strong pick for concerts and creative parties.
27. Sweater Dress Vampire Outfit

Cold weather is when a black sweater dress earns its place. Choose a fitted or softly shaped midi and define the waist with a burgundy velvet belt, then add patterned black tights and knee-high boots for warmth and texture. A long tailored coat and a dark red shoulder bag layer over it, with silver earrings and a narrow pendant. Loose waves, a braided ponytail or a simple bun, soft charcoal shadow and wine lipstick finish the mood. Knit dresses stretch at the seat after an evening of sitting, and a ribbed knit with some weight holds its shape best. It's comfortable for outdoor events and chilly nights.
28. Black Trench Coat Vampire Outfit

A flowing black trench coat creates a mysterious silhouette with very little underneath it. Layer it over a burgundy blouse and fitted black jeans, tied loosely at the waist or left open to show the color. Pointed ankle boots make it sharper than casual sneakers would. A structured tote, silver earrings and a dark scarf for colder evenings handle the practical side. Sleek straight hair or a low ponytail, a thin wing of liner and blackberry lipstick add quiet drama. I tie the belt in a loose knot at the back rather than buckling it in front, which shapes the coat without bunching. Good for commuting, city walks and outdoor plans.
29. Off-Shoulder Vampire Outfit

An off-shoulder knit top brings graceful drama to an evening outfit, but only if it stays where it should. Choose a supportive design with some grip at the neckline, and I'd add a strapless bra with silicone edging or a strip of fashion tape. Pair it with burgundy wide-leg pants or a full-length satin skirt, pointed black heels, a velvet clutch and a delicate silver necklace that sits above the neckline. A loose updo or side-swept waves keeps the shoulders visible, and smoky brown eyes and deep rose lipstick give a romantic finish. It suits dinners, gothic parties and concerts with no costume accessories at all.
30. Black Suit Vampire Outfit

A tailored black suit is a confident modern vampire. Wear a fitted burgundy blouse or satin camisole under the blazer, with high-waisted straight or wide-leg trousers, and pointed pumps, ankle boots or polished loafers. A silver lapel pin, a structured handbag and a narrow velvet ribbon at the neck add the vampire detail, while a slicked low bun or smooth ponytail, defined liner and plum lipstick keep the drama controlled. Have the trouser hems taken up for the shoes you'll wear most; a black suit that pools at the ankle loses all its sharpness. It's a good choice for anyone who prefers tailoring to dresses and skirts.
31. Floral Vampire Outfit

Dark florals give a softer take on vampire style. Look for a black midi dress printed with burgundy, gray or muted purple flowers, with long sleeves and a high or square neckline. A bright, busy print fights the mood, so I pick one where the black background clearly dominates. Black tights, pointed ankle boots and a fitted velvet jacket add structure, with a vintage-shaped handbag and simple silver jewelry. Loose curls or a braided low bun suit the print, and gray-brown shadow, defined lashes and cranberry lipstick add contrast. It's seasonal and practical for lunches, daytime parties and markets.
32. Platform Boots Vampire Outfit

Platform boots carry a lot of visual weight, so the dress above them needs some too. A fitted burgundy mini dress with long sleeves and a modest neckline, worn with opaque tights, balances them. Layer a cropped black jacket or a long cardigan over it. A small shoulder bag, silver hoops and stacked rings add a modern gothic edge, with a high ponytail, straight layers or two low braids. Smudged liner and berry lip gloss keep the makeup youthful. Break the platforms in at home first; they're stable but stiff, and new ones rub at the ankle. They're the answer when you want height you can actually stand in all night.
33. Velvet Pants Vampire Outfit

Burgundy velvet trousers make a luxurious foundation. Pair them with a fitted black blouse with a high neck, lace sleeves or subtle ruffles, and a cropped black blazer that keeps the proportions clean and shows off the pants. Pointed black shoes, a structured clutch and long silver earrings finish it, with a sleek bun or smooth side-parted waves, softly smoky eyes and a satin dark berry lipstick. Skip extra textures so the velvet stays the focus. Loose-cut velvet bags at the knee, so a slim stretch velvet holds its shape much better through an evening. They suit dinners, holiday-season events and gothic parties.
34. Black Cardigan Vampire Outfit

A long black cardigan turns basics into relaxed vampirecore. Wear it over a burgundy camisole or fitted square-neck top with black straight-leg jeans, and choose a cardigan that falls below the knee for a flowing line. Pointed Chelsea boots and a dark structured crossbody keep it tidy. Layered silver necklaces and a few slim rings add a gothic touch, with loose glossy hair or a low ponytail, lightly smudged liner and a tinted plum balm. Long cardigans stretch out on a hanger, so I fold mine in a drawer instead. It's comfortable for everyday wear, travel and laid-back gatherings.
35. Tulle Skirt Vampire Outfit

A layered black tulle midi skirt looks wearable rather than formal when the top is plain. Tuck a burgundy long-sleeve high-neck knit into it and add a black belt at the waist. Pointed ankle boots ground the skirt so it doesn't read as a ballgown. A small velvet bag and silver drop earrings add subtle shine, with a smooth half-up style and soft waves, charcoal liner and muted blackberry lipstick. Tulle catches on hook-and-loop fasteners, boot hooks and rough walls, so I check my coat and bag for anything scratchy before wearing it out. It's lovely for creative parties, dinners and portraits.
36. Monochrome Black Vampire Outfit

All black works when the textures change. Pair a satin blouse with tailored trousers, a velvet blazer and pointed leather boots; the different finishes stop the outfit from looking flat even though every piece is black. Add a dark silver necklace, a structured handbag and a slim belt with a simple metal buckle. Glossy waves or a sharp low ponytail, defined liner, cool blush and deep plum lipstick give a restrained effect. Blacks rarely match exactly, and a brown-black next to a blue-black looks off in daylight, so I check the pieces together by a window. It adapts easily to almost any body type and occasion.
37. Gray And Burgundy Vampire Outfit

Charcoal gray is a softer route than solid black that still keeps the dark mood. Wear a fitted gray sweater with a burgundy midi skirt and black knee-high boots, then add a long charcoal coat and a structured black handbag for a tonal, layered effect. Silver drop earrings or a vintage-style brooch give a focal point. Loose curls, a braided bun or a smooth low ponytail, gray shadow, soft brows and wine lipstick tie the makeup to the clothes. Gray suits anyone who finds black harsh near the face, which is exactly why I keep the gray pieces at the top. It works for daytime gatherings, work events and museum visits.
38. Leather Pants Vampire Outfit

Black faux-leather pants give a streamlined finish, and a flowing burgundy blouse balances the close fit below. Look for soft sleeves, a tie neck or delicate gathering rather than heavy decoration. A tailored black coat and pointed ankle boots lengthen the line, and a silver pendant, small black handbag and dark nails finish the details. Soft waves or a sleek ponytail, smudged charcoal liner and berry lipstick keep the theme without a costume feel. Faux leather runs warm in a crowded room, so I choose a blouse in a breathable fabric to make up for it. It's a natural fit for concerts, parties and nights out.
39. Velvet Skirt Vampire Outfit

A burgundy velvet midi skirt brings richness and texture. Style it with a fitted black blouse with sheer sleeves or a small ruffled collar, opaque tights and pointed black pumps or ankle boots. A cropped jacket keeps the line neat and leaves the skirt in view. A small structured bag and vintage-shaped silver earrings, a low twisted bun with a few loose pieces, soft smoky eyes and deep rose lipstick finish it. Velvet skirts tend to cling to tights and ride up as you walk, and a thin slip underneath fixes that. It suits elegant dinners, concerts and theater outings.
40. Modern Vampire Evening Outfit

For a clean evening look, pair a black asymmetric midi dress with burgundy pointed heels and a tailored long coat. The unusual neckline supplies the modern drama, so nothing theatrical is needed. Carry a compact black clutch and wear either one bold silver cuff or a pair of sculptural earrings, not both. A sleek bun, smooth ponytail or glossy side-parted waves, precise liner, defined lashes and satin plum lipstick keep the makeup polished. I check an asymmetric dress from every side in a mirror, because the cut has to look intentional from the back as well as the front. It's right for upscale parties, receptions and formal dinners.
Looking After Velvet, Satin and Lace
Nearly every outfit here uses one of these three fabrics, and each needs different care if you want it to look good the second and third time you wear it.
Velvet
Never press velvet flat with an iron, because it crushes the pile. Steam it from the inside, or hang it in a steamy bathroom, then brush the pile gently in one direction once it's dry. Store it hanging with space around it, not folded under other clothes.
Satin
Satin shows water spots and creases easily. Iron it on low from the wrong side or steam it lightly, and use a pressing cloth to avoid shiny marks. Check the care label before washing, since some satins need hand washing or dry cleaning.
Lace and faux leather
I hand-wash lace in cool water with a mild detergent, press the water out in a towel and dry it flat, because wet lace stretches and snags on a hanger. Faux leather only needs a damp cloth. Keep it away from heat, which can crack the coating.
Vampire Style That Never Needs Fangs
Vampire style can be romantic, modern, casual, tailored or formal, and none of it needs a costume. Start with a dark palette of black, burgundy, charcoal or ivory, then mix in velvet, satin, lace, leather and structured layers. Pointed shoes, silver jewelry, defined makeup and polished hair tie each outfit together. I'd rather see one well-fitted piece that suits where you're going than every gothic detail at once. Long dresses, tailored suits, casual jeans and flowing skirts all work, so begin with what you already like wearing and simply take it darker.
