Bunny costumes stretch further than most animals: sweet, glam, funny, spooky, even a pun or two. What separates a good one from a headband grabbed at the door is a clear outfit base with hair, makeup, a prop and shoes that agree with each other. Most of the looks below come together from closet staples, thrift finds, felt, faux fur and basic craft supplies, and as a sewist I've added notes on building ears and tails so they actually hold up. You'll find classic white rabbits, bright party bunnies, vintage decades, puns, couples and group ideas, all planned head to toe for parties, school events, parades and photos.

Building Bunny Ears That Don't Flop by Nine
Almost every costume below depends on the ears, and crooked, drooping ears are the problem I see most. Felt on its own wilts within an hour. This is how I build a pair that stands.
- Cut four outer ear shapes from felt or fleece and two smaller inner shapes in the lining color. Make them a little longer than seems right; ears look shorter once they're on your head.
- Stitch the inner pieces onto two of the outers, then sandwich a layer of stiff fusible interfacing or thin craft foam between front and back.
- Run a pipe cleaner or a length of floral wire up the center from the base, leaving an inch spare at the bottom.
- Sew the edges closed, or use fabric glue rather than hot glue, which lets go in cold air.
- Wrap the spare wire tightly around a fabric-covered headband and cover the join with a strip of felt.
A wide, padded headband holds tall ears far better than a thin plastic one, and it's kinder behind the ears after a few hours. For floppy rabbits like the gray or ghost bunny, I leave out the wire and use interfacing only, so the ears bend softly without crumpling.
1. Classic White Bunny Costume

The classic white bunny is where I'd start anyone new to sewing ears. White overalls, a white jumpsuit, or leggings with a soft sweater make the base, and tall white ears lined with pale pink felt plus a fluffy faux-fur tail do the rest. Wear your hair in a high ponytail, or a short white bob wig for a more theatrical look. A rounded pink nose, fine whiskers, white gloves and a light plush carrot. White sneakers, ballet flats or fuzzy boot covers. White shows grime fast, so I'd pick a washable base over anything dry-clean only, and slip a thermal shirt underneath if it's cold.
2. Cute Pink Bunny Costume

Soft pink suits parades and family events. Build it around a pink sweatshirt dress, matching leggings or comfortable pink overalls, then add a white pom-pom tail and tall pink ears with white inner panels. Loose curls, braided pigtails or a pastel pink wig. Rosy blush, a small heart-shaped nose and thin white whiskers, with a basket of fabric carrots or wrapped treats. Pink sneakers if you're walking, ballet flats if you're not. A white faux-fur collar or wrist cuffs adds texture and warmth; I cut them from the same fur as the tail so the whites match.
3. Glam Black Bunny Costume

Glam black bunny skips the basic bodysuit in favor of tailored pieces: a fitted black jumpsuit, or a velvet top with high-waisted trousers. Long black ears, a satin bow tie and a neatly trimmed faux-fur tail. Sleek ponytail, glossy waves or a smooth black bob. Charcoal shimmer, winged liner, a small black nose and subtle whiskers. I trim black fur tails with scissors into a tight ball, because shaggy fur looks unkempt next to velvet. Carry a sparkly carrot clutch or a silver pocket watch, wear pointed flats or block-heel boots, and add a cropped blazer for coverage.
4. Brown Woodland Bunny Costume

The brown woodland bunny is a warm choice for an autumn night. Brown corduroy overalls with a cream ribbed sweater, or a loose brown jumpsuit belted with a braid. Soft brown ears, a cream faux-fur chest panel and a round tail. Loose waves with small leaf clips, or a chestnut braided wig. Neutral shadow, warm blush, a brown nose and fine whiskers. A woven basket of fabric mushrooms, leaves and carrots, and lace-up brown boots. For rabbit markings, I cut felt patches in two or three slightly different browns and stitch them on with a loose whipstitch, which looks softer than glue.
5. Cozy Gray Bunny Costume

Gray is the bunny I'd steer you toward on a cold night. A gray knit sweater dress, fleece jumpsuit or matching sweatshirt and joggers, with a white belly panel and a fluffy gray tail. Flexible gray ears with pale pink centers. A messy bun under the headband, or a silver-gray wig. Gray shadow, pink blush, a tiny nose and light whiskers, plus a plush carrot or small basket. Gray sneakers, lined boots or fuzzy shoe covers. Fleece doesn't fray, so the belly panel can be cut and topstitched on without any hemming. Fingerless gloves and a scarf keep you warm without hiding the ears.
6. Pastel Rainbow Bunny Costume

Pastel rainbow brings soft colors together. Start with a lavender romper, pale blue jumpsuit, or pink sweater with a layered tulle skirt, then add a multicolored pom-pom tail and ears banded in mint, peach, yellow and lilac felt. A pastel rainbow wig is the quick route, though colorful clips work with your own hair. Iridescent shadow, pink cheek circles, a lavender nose and white whiskers. A basket of painted wooden eggs, white high-tops, and striped tights or pastel knee socks. With this many colors, I lay all the felt out together before cutting; one shade too bright and the whole thing tips from pastel to neon.
7. Neon Party Bunny Costume

Neon is built for the dance floor. A neon green, electric blue or hot pink tracksuit over a fitted white shirt, oversized neon ears, a contrasting pom-pom tail, and glow-style bracelets that need no wiring. A high ponytail with colorful extensions, or a vivid bob wig. Graphic liner, bright cheeks, a matching nose and crisp white whiskers. A light carrot-shaped sign or mini backpack, and white sneakers with neon laces. Reflective trim down the sleeves and legs is worth sewing on if you'll be out after dark; it catches headlights in a way glow sticks don't.
8. Cottagecore Bunny Costume

Cottagecore bunny is storybook clothing: a floral midi dress under a neutral linen apron, with brown or cream ears and a matching tail. Wear a loose braid with small artificial flowers tucked in. Peach blush, natural shadow, a pink nose and light whiskers. Carry a woven basket with fabric carrots, faux wildflowers and a folded gingham cloth. Cream socks and brown lace-up boots, plus a knitted cardigan when it's cool. I keep the colors muted and the fabrics natural-looking here; a shiny satin ear lining would look out of place against linen.
9. Ballerina Bunny Costume

Ballerina bunny is a long-sleeved leotard-style top, opaque tights and a knee-length tulle skirt, with a small pom-pom tail and satin-covered ears with pink centers. Put your hair in a secure ballet bun with a pale ribbon wrapped around the base. Soft pink shadow, glowing blush, a rounded nose and fine whiskers. A ribbon wand or a bundle of fabric roses. Skip real dance shoes for a night out; pink ballet flats or flexible sneakers with crisscrossed ribbons are kinder on pavement. Satin frays fast, so I finish the ear edges with a narrow zigzag or a line of fray stopper. A cropped wrap sweater adds warmth.
10. Disco Bunny Costume

Disco bunny is silver shine and a retro shape. A metallic long-sleeved jumpsuit, or a shimmering top with high-waisted flares, plus silver ears, a sparkly tail and a wide belt. Bouncy curls or a voluminous silver wig. Luminous shadow, star-shaped face gems, pink blush and a neat nose with whiskers. A mini mirror ball or glitter carrot, and silver platform sneakers or low block-heel boots for dancing. Keep the jewelry big but light. Metallic fabric scorches under a hot iron, so I sew lamé ears with a press cloth and the iron turned right down.
11. Flapper Bunny Costume

A flapper bunny is a knee-length fringe dress in black, silver or blush pink over opaque tights, with satin ears and a small matching tail. Finger waves on short hair, or a waved bob wig under a jeweled headband. The jeweled band and the ear band fight each other for space, so I stitch the ears straight onto the jeweled headband and wear just one. Smoky eyes, defined brows, rosy cheeks, a small nose and fine whiskers. Long faux pearls and a beaded bag. Low T-strap shoes or secure block-heel pumps, and a light faux-fur wrap for warmth.
12. 1950s Diner Bunny Costume

The 1950s diner bunny is bright and upbeat. A pastel button-front dress with a full skirt, or a collared blouse with a polka-dot circle skirt, then a small apron, white ears and a fluffy tail fixed firmly at the waist. A high ponytail tied with a scarf, or soft vintage curls. Winged liner, pink lipstick, rosy blush, a button nose and short whiskers. Carry a light serving tray with faux carrots and an empty milkshake cup, and wear white ankle socks with saddle shoes. On a circle skirt I sew the tail to the waistband rather than the skirt itself, or it swings around to your hip as you walk. A cardigan keeps you warm.
13. 1960s Mod Bunny Costume

Bold geometric pattern makes the 1960s mod bunny easy to spot. A color-blocked mini with opaque tights, or a knee-length shift for more coverage. Tall white ears with black trim and a round tail that matches the dress. A smooth flipped bob or a sleek platinum wig with a wide headband. Graphic liner, pale shadow, pink cheeks, a tiny nose and evenly spaced whiskers. A round handbag or a large lightweight daisy, and white go-go boots or low ankle boots. I'd limit it to two or three colors; mod falls apart the moment it gets busy.
14. 1970s Boho Bunny Costume

The 1970s boho bunny is loose and relaxed: high-waisted flared jeans, a floral blouse and a faux-suede vest. Tan ears, a brown pom-pom tail and a wide fabric headband. Long waves, or a chestnut wig with a center part. Bronze shadow, peach blush, a brown nose and fine whiskers. A woven crossbody with a fabric carrot charm, and brown platform clogs or ankle boots. Round sunglasses for outdoor photos, off indoors so the makeup shows. Faux suede doesn't fray, so I cut fringe straight into the vest hem with sharp scissors for movement.
15. 1980s Workout Bunny Costume

The 1980s workout bunny comes straight from athletic basics: bright leggings with an oversized sweatshirt, or a fitted top under a contrasting leotard-style piece. Leg warmers, wristbands, flexible ears and a fluffy tail. A high side ponytail with a big scrunchie, or a curly neon wig. Blue or purple shadow, bright blush, a pink nose and bold whiskers. A foam weight or a water bottle with carrot stickers, and high-top sneakers. Pick breathable fabrics if you'll dance. Ears bounce off mid-routine, so I'd anchor the headband with two bobby pins crossed through the hair at each side.
16. Y2K Bunny Costume

Y2K bunny pairs rabbit details with early-2000s pieces. A pastel velour tracksuit, or wide-leg cargo pants with a layered fitted top. A tiny shoulder bag, tinted sunglasses, tall ears and a matching pom-pom tail. Two mini buns with face-framing strands and butterfly clips. Frosted shadow, glossy lips, pink blush, a small nose and thin whiskers. A flip-phone prop or fuzzy carrot keychain, and chunky white sneakers. Velour picks up lint from everything nearby, so I'd run a lint roller over it before you leave. Go easy on the rhinestone belt and metallic clips; one or two is plenty.
17. Punk Bunny Costume

Punk bunny gets its attitude from plaid, denim and graphics. Black jeans, a red plaid overshirt and a painted denim vest. One black ear and one plaid ear, with a mismatched faux-fur tail. A temporary fauxhawk, spiky ponytail or bright bob wig. Smudged charcoal shadow, defined brows, a black nose and angular whiskers. Use fabric patches and metal-look plastic clips instead of sharp studs, which scratch whoever stands next to you. Thick acrylic paint cracks on denim, so I mix it with fabric medium and build thin coats. A carrot microphone, lace-up boots or high-tops, and fingerless gloves.
18. Gothic Bunny Costume

The gothic bunny can be mysterious without being scary. A long black velvet dress, a high-neck blouse with a flowing skirt, or a tailored black jumpsuit. Lace-trimmed ears, a black faux-fur tail and a cameo-style rabbit brooch. Smooth dark waves, or a black wig with a subtle white streak. Plum and charcoal shadow, muted rose lipstick, a small black nose and delicate whiskers. A vintage-looking pocket watch or black fabric roses, lace-up ankle boots and a fitted capelet. Velvet crushes under a hot iron, so I press the ear seams from the back over a folded towel.
19. Steampunk Bunny Costume

Steampunk bunny relies on warm metallics and mechanical details. Brown trousers, a cream ruffled blouse and a fitted bronze vest, or a long brown skirt with useful side pockets. Leather-look ears decorated with lightweight gears, a small tail and goggles pushed up on the forehead. A braided updo or a copper curly wig. Bronze shadow, warm blush, a brown nose and precise whiskers. An oversized cardboard pocket watch or decorated map case, with brown lace-up boots. Stick to foam or plastic gears; real metal ones are heavy enough to tip the ears backward.
20. Cyber Bunny Costume

Cyber bunny is cool tones and sharp lines: a silver utility jumpsuit, or black cargo pants with a structured metallic jacket. Ears edged in reflective tape for a lit-up look, a geometric tail and silver gloves. A sleek high ponytail or a blue-and-silver bob wig. Sharp graphic liner, metallic shadow, a silver nose and symmetrical whiskers. A clear tablet prop or a small transparent backpack with colorful faux cables, plus white sneakers or silver ankle boots. I cut geometric tails from craft foam and cover them in metallic vinyl; they keep their shape far better than fur. Keep the face clear and everything light.
21. Space Bunny Costume

Space bunny mixes astronaut details with a joke. A white utility jumpsuit carries homemade mission patches showing carrots, stars and rabbit footprints. Silver gloves, tall white ears and a round metallic tail. A low bun, or hair tucked under a light open-face helmet with the ears fixed on top. Pearly shadow, silver freckles, a pink nose and white whiskers. A cardboard control panel or plush moon, white high-tops or moon-boot shoe covers, a silver belt and reflective cuffs. For the patches, I paint or embroider felt circles flat and then stitch them on, because iron-on adhesive lets go on a jumpsuit that bends at every joint.
22. Magician’s White Bunny Costume

The magician's white bunny reads well solo or in a pair. A white jumpsuit, tailored white overalls, or a fluffy sweater with white trousers. Tall ears, a round tail and a red satin bow tie. A sleek bun or a short white wig. A pink nose, rounded cheeks and fine black whiskers. Carry a light black top hat big enough to hold a plush carrot, and wear white gloves with black-and-white spectator shoes. For a duo, the second person wears a black suit, red vest, top hat and polished shoes, with subtle star makeup and a deck of oversized cardboard cards.
23. Garden Bunny Costume

Garden bunny is fresh green with flowers. Green overalls over a cream shirt, brown ears, a matching tail and gardening gloves. Two low braids with flower clips, or a natural brown wig. Peach blush, soft green shadow, a brown nose and fine whiskers. A small watering can of artificial greenery and fabric carrots, and brown rubber-style boots. Felt leaves and tiny fabric vegetables can peek out of the overall pockets. A straw hat between the ears has to be fixed to the headband itself without blocking your view; I sew two small elastic loops under the brim to hold it.
24. Carrot Farmer Bunny Costume

The carrot farmer leans into the rabbit-and-carrot joke. Denim overalls, a plaid shirt and an orange neckerchief. Tan ears, a cream tail and a straw hat with openings cut for the ears. Natural hair in braids or a short brown wig. Warm blush, light freckles, a pinkish-brown nose and clean whiskers. A painted cardboard crate full of fabric carrots, with work gloves in a pocket and brown lace-up or rubber boots. When I cut ear holes in a straw hat, I bind the edges with bias tape, since cut straw unravels quickly. Felt carrot patches on the overalls make the theme clear from any angle.
25. Storybook Blue Jacket Bunny Costume

This fan-made storybook bunny centers on a bright blue jacket, tan trousers and a cream shirt. Soft brown ears, a round tail and a small fabric neck scarf. A short chestnut wig or tidy natural hair keeps it child-friendly. Gentle brown shading around the eyes, rosy cheeks, a nose and fine whiskers. A mini watering can, vegetable basket or fabric radish bundle hints at a garden adventure. Brown ankle boots, and a neutral sweater under the jacket when it's cold. I swap the jacket buttons for slightly oversized ones and stitch patches on the trouser knees; that gives the illustrated look with no real construction.
26. White Rabbit Costume With Pocket Watch

The White Rabbit is formal clothes and a big watch. A red waistcoat over a white shirt with black trousers, or a knee-length skirt with opaque tights. White ears, a fluffy tail, white gloves and a small ruffled collar. A neat bun or short white wig. A pink nose, flushed cheeks and narrow whiskers. The pocket watch should be large and light, so I cut it from foam board and draw the face on with a marker. Black loafers, lace-up shoes or low ankle boots. A blue or black fitted jacket adds warmth without losing the hurried storybook look.
27. March Hare Costume

The March Hare is meant to look mismatched. A brown jacket over a colorful vest, with striped trousers or a patchwork midi skirt. Long tan ears bent slightly at the tips and a messy brown tail. Tousled curls, or a shaggy brown wig with a crooked mini hat. Warm brown eye makeup, exaggerated brows, a pink nose and playful whiskers. A light plastic teacup and saucer, kept empty in a crowd, with mismatched socks and sturdy brown shoes. To make bent ear tips stay bent, I run floral wire along the inner edge before closing each ear. Patches, ribbon loops and oversized buttons do the rest.
28. Basketball Bunny Costume

Basketball bunny is a sporty swap for all that fluff. An oversized jersey over a fitted long-sleeved shirt, with athletic shorts or leggings. Gray ears, a white tail and striped sweatbands. A high ponytail pulled through the ear headband, or a short gray wig. Minimal makeup: a gray nose, soft contour and dark whiskers. A foam basketball printed with rabbit footprints, high-tops and tall socks. A carrot number or made-up team name personalizes the jersey; I'd use felt numbers stitched around the edge rather than glued. It's comfortable for school events and active parties.
29. Circus Performer Bunny Costume

Circus performer bunny is festive and fully covered. High-waisted black trousers with a red tailcoat, a striped shirt and gold-look buttons. White ears, a fluffy tail, white gloves and a small decorative top hat set between the ears. A sleek ponytail or curled bob. Gold shadow, rosy cheeks, a pink nose and symmetrical whiskers. A decorated hoop or a striped baton with rounded ends, black ankle boots or loafers, a red bow tie and fabric cuffs. No tailcoat? A thrifted red blazer becomes one if you sew two long panels under the back hem.
30. Plush Bunny Onesie Costume

A plush onesie is the comfiest bunny here. Choose a zip-front one in white, gray, pink or brown with an attached hood and floppy ears. If it's plain, sew or pin on a contrasting belly panel and a pom-pom tail. Low braids fit neatly under the hood. Pink blush, a tiny nose and short whiskers, nothing more. A plush carrot or a small crossbody for essentials. Fuzzy socks and sneakers indoors, lined boots for trick-or-treating. Plush fleece gets hot quickly in a crowded room, so I'd wear only a thin layer underneath.
31. Bunny Pajama Costume

Bunny pajamas rescue a last-minute invite or a relaxed indoor party. Matching pastel pajamas with a button-front top, an ear headband, a clip-on pom-pom tail and fuzzy wrist cuffs. A loose topknot or two low braids, and a sleep-mask headband if you like. Rosy cheeks, a pink nose and delicate whiskers. A plush carrot, small pillow or an empty mug with rabbit shapes. Bunny slippers indoors, pastel sneakers outside. The clip-on tail is easy: I sew a pom-pom onto a strip of felt and stitch a sturdy hair clip to the back. A light robe adds warmth.
32. Rainy Day Bunny Costume

The rainy day bunny turns bad weather into part of the outfit. A yellow raincoat over white leggings and a soft gray sweater, gray ears, a fluffy white tail, and a hood that sits behind the ear headband. Braids or a low bun keep hair neat. Use water-resistant makeup for the nose, blush and whiskers. A clear umbrella with removable carrot and cloud stickers, yellow rain boots, and a small carrot crossbody for essentials. Faux fur turns to a soggy clump in the rain, so if it's truly wet I make the tail from yarn, which dries back fluffy. In dry weather, carry a toy umbrella and wear the coat open.
33. Snow Bunny Costume

The snow bunny is made for cold-weather celebrations. White snow pants or fleece leggings, a white puffer and a pale blue sweater. Plush white ears, a fluffy tail and silver mittens. A side braid, or a white knit cap set carefully between the ears. Icy blue shadow, pearly highlight, rosy cheeks, a pink nose and white whiskers. A silver thermos or plush snowflake. White winter boots, a pale blue scarf and faux-fur boot cuffs. Puffer fabric is slippery and glue won't grip it, so the tail needs a safety pin through a fabric tab to stay put.
34. Spring Flower Bunny Costume

The spring flower bunny is a softer seasonal take: a pastel floral dress, cropped cardigan and opaque cream tights. White or light brown ears decorated with small artificial flowers, and a matching pom-pom tail. Loose curls or a braided crown with tiny blossom clips. Lavender shadow, peach blush, a pink nose and delicate whiskers. A wicker basket of faux tulips and fabric carrots. Cream flats, ankle boots or white sneakers. I pull silk flowers off their plastic stems before gluing them to the ears; stems add weight and poke into your scalp. A pale green ribbon belt ties the dress to the garden pieces.
35. Autumn Harvest Bunny Costume

Orange, rust and brown define the autumn harvest bunny. Brown corduroy pants, a burnt-orange sweater and a plaid vest. Tan ears, a cream tail and a felt leaf garland around the headband. A loose braid or a warm brown wavy wig. Copper shadow, terracotta blush, a brown nose and subtle whiskers. A basket of mini pumpkins, artificial leaves and fabric carrots, kept light with foam or fabric pieces. Brown boots and a mustard scarf. When I make a leaf garland, I cut the leaves from stiffened felt so they keep their shape after an evening of being brushed against.
36. Ghost Bunny Costume

The ghost bunny is gently spooky without hiding under a sheet. A flowing white tunic over white trousers or a layered white midi skirt. Long floppy ears, a pale tail and sheer panels fastened safely at the shoulders so they drift as you move. Loose white-tinted waves or a long silver-white wig. Pearly face makeup, soft gray shadow, a white nose and faded whiskers. A small translucent lantern with a battery light, never a candle. White boots or sneakers, and nothing dragging on the floor. Light gray shading at the hems helps the floating effect; I dry-brush diluted fabric paint along the edges.
37. Skeleton Bunny Costume

Skeleton bunny is graphic with no gore. A black long-sleeved jumpsuit or matching shirt and trousers, with simplified rabbit bones painted on or cut from white felt across the arms, legs and torso. Black ears with white inner details and a two-tone tail. A tight bun or a short black-and-white wig. Monochrome face paint that suggests a rabbit skull, kept clean and stylized. A white foam carrot marked with black lines, and black boots or sneakers. Reflective white tape can replace the paint and is easier to see at night, though it peels at elbows and knees unless I stitch the ends down.
38. Porcelain Doll Bunny Costume

The porcelain doll bunny is eerie in a polished way. A high-neck pastel dress with puffed sleeves and a full skirt, opaque tights and a crisp white apron. Cream ears, a neatly round tail and a big satin bow. Symmetrical curls, or a smooth blonde or pale pink wig. Matte foundation, round blush circles, fine lower lashes, a tiny pink nose and careful whiskers. A small stuffed rabbit or an empty picture frame, with buttoned ankle boots or Mary Janes. For a truly round tail, I trim the faux-fur pom-pom on all sides and check it from the side as well as the back. Keep the face doll-like, never cracked.
39. Vampire Bunny Costume

Vampire bunny pairs evening clothes with rabbit details. A black velvet jumpsuit, a long dress, or a tailored suit with a deep red vest. Black ears lined in red satin, a dark tail and a high-collared cape. Glossy waves or a sleek black wig. Plum shadow, defined brows, muted red lipstick, a black nose and narrow whiskers. Small costume fangs for photos only, if they fit. A red fabric rose or antique-style pocket watch, black loafers or lace-up boots and a burgundy sash. A cape collar only stands upright with heavy interfacing or a strip of plastic boning inside, which is how I build them.
40. Pumpkin Bunny Costume

Pumpkin bunny turns a basic rabbit outfit orange and green. Orange overalls or a rounded orange tunic over green leggings and a long-sleeved shirt. Orange ears with green inner panels, a cream tail and a felt leaf collar. Two buns, or a short orange wig with a green bow. Peach shadow, round orange cheeks, a brown nose and playful whiskers. A small foam pumpkin or basket of fabric carrots, with green sneakers or brown ankle boots. For pumpkin ribs, I stitch curved strips of darker orange felt down the front; they stay soft and you can still sit.
41. Candy Bunny Costume

Candy bunny is wrappers, stripes and color. A striped dress, jumpsuit or matching sweatshirt and pants, with pastel ears, a multicolored pom-pom tail and a collar of soft fabric circles that look like candies. High curled pigtails or a pink-and-blue wig. Shimmer shadow, rosy cheeks, a heart nose and white whiskers. An oversized wrapped-candy prop made from a cardboard tube and cellophane-style fabric, plus white sneakers with colorful laces. Don't sew real candy to the clothes; wrappers crinkle, fall off and leave a sticky mess.
42. Chocolate Bunny Costume

Chocolate bunny is a rich brown palette with a wrapped-candy wink. A dark brown jumpsuit, a sweater dress with leggings or a matching sweatshirt set, with rounded brown ears, a fluffy tail and a wide satin ribbon at the neck. Smooth waves or a glossy dark brown bob wig. Bronze shadow, warm blush, a brown nose and delicate whiskers. An empty candy box or a fabric carrot wrapped in foil-look material, and brown loafers, ankle boots or sneakers. A gold metallic belt and wrist cuffs suggest packaging; keep any labels generic. I tie the neck ribbon in a bow and tack the knot so it can't slip tight.
43. Marshmallow Bunny Costume

Marshmallow bunny should look soft and round. A pastel pink, yellow, blue or lavender sweatshirt dress over matching leggings, with ears and tail in the same color in smooth fleece rather than long fur. A simple high bun or a single-color pastel wig. Matching shadow, round cheek color, a tiny nose and white whiskers. A light basket of plush pastel shapes and white sneakers. For a puffier shape, I quilt a thin layer of batting into the tunic in a few wide channels; loose stuffing shifts and goes lumpy as soon as you sit.
44. Dust Bunny Pun Costume

Dust bunny is cheap and funny, and it reads clearly once the details agree. A gray sweatsuit or loose jumpsuit covered in tufts of gray tulle, yarn and felt. Drooping gray ears, a messy pom-pom tail and gray gloves. A deliberately tousled bun or a fluffy gray wig. Silver-gray shadow, smudged blush, a charcoal nose and uneven whiskers. A clean feather duster or a cardboard vacuum explains the joke, and gray sneakers finish it. Hot glue lets go of sweatshirt fleece once it flexes, so I stitch every tuft, and keep all of them above the ankle so nothing drags or catches.
45. Gym Bunny Pun Costume

Gym bunny plays on the phrase. Leggings or joggers with a fitted workout shirt, a zip athletic jacket and bright sweatbands. Flexible ears, a fluffy tail and fingerless training gloves. A secure high ponytail or a short sporty wig that stays off your face. Fresh blush, a pink nose and waterproof whisker lines. A foam dumbbell or a water bottle marked with a carrot, supportive training sneakers and a small towel tucked in the waistband. On stretchy leggings, I attach the tail to a short elastic belt worn under the shirt, since stitching into performance fabric can ladder it.
46. Funny Business Bunny Costume

Funny Business is office clothes plus an exaggerated pun. A tailored suit, collared shirt and patterned tie in gray, white or black, plus tall ears, a pom-pom tail and a rectangular badge reading “Funny Business.” A neat bun, ponytail or polished short cut. Clean makeup with defined brows, rosy cheeks, a nose and crisp whiskers. A briefcase of oversized paper carrots and joke notes. Loafers, flats or low boots, and carrot-print socks as a hidden joke. Most people already own the suit, so this is the one I'd suggest for a work party.
47. Magician And Bunny Couple Costume

Magician and bunny gives two people separate looks that clearly belong together. The magician wears a black suit, white shirt, red vest, top hat, white gloves and polished black shoes, with star face accents and oversized foam cards. The bunny wears a white jumpsuit or a sweater with trousers, tall ears, a fluffy tail and a red bow tie, plus a short white wig or neat ponytail, a pink nose, rosy blush and fine whiskers. White sneakers or black-and-white loafers. I make both bow ties from the same red satin so the color links the pair. Share a light top hat with a plush carrot for the photo pose.
48. Bunny Family Costume

A bunny family keeps everyone comfortable under one theme. Give each person a different neutral: white, gray, tan or brown. Adults in overalls or matching sweat sets, kids in fleece jumpsuits, with matching ears, contrasting belly panels and pom-pom tails on every outfit. Natural hair, braids or simple buns under the headbands. Gentle cheek color, small noses and short whiskers. Each person carries a different fabric vegetable or a mini basket, and everyone wears shoes they can walk in. When I sew a set like this, I cut every belly panel from one cream fleece, which links the family even though the base colors differ.
49. Colorful Bunny Group Costume

A colorful bunny group scales from three friends to a big crew. Give each person one clear color, such as pink, blue, purple, yellow, green or orange, worn as a jumpsuit, a dress with leggings or a matching sweatshirt set. Coordinated ears, contrasting tails, colorful wigs or extensions and matching cheek makeup. Each bunny carries a fabric carrot or basket in their color, and everyone wears white sneakers. For photos, repeat one detail on all of you, like identical white belly panels or bow ties. Agree on ear height too; I'd have one person cut all the ears from the same pattern.
50. Bunny And Owner Pet Costume

Bring a pet in safely with a bunny-and-owner pair. The owner goes as a friendly gardener: green overalls, a gingham shirt, gardening gloves, brown boots and a straw hat, with natural makeup and a small basket of fabric carrots. The dog wears a light bunny-ear hood or a soft harness attachment with a tiny pom-pom tail, as long as nothing covers its eyes, ears or nose or limits how it moves. Pick brown, white, gray or pink to suit the coat. Skip pet face paint, wigs and shoes. I'd let the dog wear the piece for a few minutes on a quiet day first, and take it off the moment it looks unhappy.
Tails, Faux Fur and the Fluff Problem
A tail should be round, light and fixed where it won't swing around to your hip. I make most of mine one of two ways, and I handle the fur carefully.
- Yarn pom-pom: wrap yarn around a cardboard template many times, tie the middle very tightly, cut the loops and trim it into a ball. It's washable and fluffs back up after rain.
- Faux-fur ball: cut a circle of fur about twice the finished width, run a gathering stitch around the edge, stuff it with fiberfill and pull it closed.
- Cut faux fur from the back with a craft knife or small snips, sliding the blade under the pile. Big scissors chop the fibers, and you'll find fluff on every surface for a week.
- Sew the tail to a felt tab and safety-pin the tab inside the waistband. It moves between outfits and never tears the fabric.
Whiskers and Noses Without the Smudging
Most of these looks need only a nose and whiskers, but those small marks smudge easily. A soft, freshly sharpened eyeliner pencil draws cleaner whiskers than a brush, and a cream or water-activated paint suits the nose. I always test any product on the inside of the wrist a day ahead, especially for kids or sensitive skin.
Draw three whiskers per side, starting near the nose and flicking outward, then press a little translucent setting powder over the lot with a puff. That one step stops most of the transfer onto collars and scarves. To take it off, an oil-based cleanser or micellar water lifts eyeliner and cream paint without hard scrubbing; follow with your usual face wash and moisturizer.
A Bunny Needs More Than a Headband
Rabbit costumes adapt to almost anything, but a headband on its own won't carry one. When the clothes, hair, makeup, shoes and one recognizable prop agree, the idea looks intentional. Soft fleece and sneakers for comfort, tailored separates for a dressier party, or colorful DIY details on a tight budget. Couples, families, groups and pet owners can share the theme through color and props. Whichever bunny you make, I'd secure every accessory, keep your vision clear and wear the whole outfit for an hour at home before the event; that's when a loose tail or a pinching headband shows itself.
