Kento Nanami is one of the easiest anime characters to build from real clothes, because his look is just very good office wear: neat blond hair with a hard side part, tinted glasses, a beige suit, a muted blue shirt, a spotted yellow tie and brown shoes. The forty versions below either follow that closely or move it into thrifted separates, women's tailoring, winter layers, streetwear and a few playful twists, each with hair, makeup, accessories and shoes worked out. Every prop is light and harmless, so nothing here should trouble an event's prop rules. When I style him, I put the fit of the suit first; a sharp jacket does more for Nanami than any accessory.

Painting the Spotted Yellow Tie
His tie is the one piece you almost never find ready-made, and it's the detail fans check first. The good news is that it takes an evening. I'd start with a plain yellow tie in polyester or a cotton blend; silk soaks up paint unevenly and stains if you slip.
- Slide a piece of cardboard inside the tie so paint can't bleed through to the back layer.
- Use a soft-body fabric paint in black or very dark brown. Stiff craft acrylic cracks when the tie is knotted.
- Dab irregular spots with a small round sponge or the end of a pencil eraser, varying the size. Even, evenly spaced dots look like polka dots, not his pattern.
- Look at a reference image as you go and keep the spots loose and slightly broken at the edges.
- Let it dry overnight, then heat-set it with an iron through a pressing cloth if the paint label calls for it.
If you can't paint, black felt spots on adhesive dots work and peel off afterward. Either way, tie it in a plain four-in-hand knot before the day and look at it in a mirror; the knot hides the top few inches, so put your best spots below it.
1. Classic Nanami Cosplay With Beige Suit

This is the version to start with. A well-fitted beige suit over a muted blue button-down, a yellow tie with irregular dark spots, green-tinted glasses, a brown leather belt and polished brown dress shoes are the whole character. Comb a short blond wig into a precise side part with the front lifted up and back; that controlled hair is half of his read. Makeup stays quiet: matte skin, lightly defined brows and a little contour under the cheekbones. A plain watch and a structured brown briefcase are safe props. If you'll wear it all day, I'd look for stretch-blend trousers and a breathable shirt, because a stiff wool-blend suit gets hot fast in a packed hall.
2. Nanami Cosplay With Shirt And Suspenders

Drop the jacket and he still reads as the tired salaryman. Tuck a dusty blue dress shirt into tailored tan trousers, add slim black suspenders and the yellow patterned tie, then green-tinted glasses, a classic watch, dark socks and brown lace-ups. Brush the short blond wig away from the face with a firm side part, and add light contour along the jaw with a neutral lip. A folder marked with simple ratio lines or a small briefcase makes a good prop. I'd clip the suspenders to the trousers rather than buying button-on ones unless you sew; clip-ons are easier, though they can slip if the waistband is thin. It's my pick for a warm venue.
3. Overtime Nanami Cosplay With Rolled Sleeves

Overtime Nanami is the one with a story. Roll a pale blue shirt neatly to the elbow, then pair it with beige dress pants, black suspenders, a loosened yellow tie and sturdy brown oxfords. Keep the green-lensed glasses and a watch. Style the side part tidy but let one small strand fall forward; that single loose piece says end of the day better than any makeup. A soft gray-brown shade under the eyes, clean brows and gentle jaw contour finish the face. A clipboard, an overtime card or a paper coffee cup gives you something to do with your hands in photos.
4. Nanami Cosplay With Three-Piece Suit

A three-piece suit takes him formal. Wear a beige jacket, matching trousers and a fitted waistcoat over a muted blue shirt with the spotted yellow tie, then brown brogues, a leather belt, a pocket watch and the tinted glasses. A honey-blond wig styled with wig wax and a fine-tooth comb gives the sleekest part. Keep makeup matte with understated brows and warm contour at the temples and jaw. A brown document case is an elegant, safe prop. I like the waistcoat for a long day because it gives you a fallback: jacket off, waistcoat on, and he still looks dressed.
5. Young Nanami Cosplay With School Uniform

Student-era Nanami trades the suit for a dark, high-collared school uniform. Wear a navy jacket with matching straight-leg trousers, a black belt and polished black loafers. Round blue-tinted glasses suggest a younger version than his later rectangular pair. Style a golden-blond wig with a softer side part and less volume than the adult look, and keep the face fresh with natural brows and barely any contour. A canvas school bag, a notebook and a plain student card are harmless props. Check the collar height before you buy: high collars that are too tight push the wig's nape up and show the cap.
6. Casual Nanami Cosplay With Blue Shirt

A casual Nanami keeps him readable without a full suit. A fitted blue button-down, tan chinos, a brown belt and clean brown loafers make the base, but keep the yellow patterned tie, green glasses and watch, because those three carry the character once the jacket is gone. Sweep a short blond wig back into his side part, and use light matte foundation with defined brows. A paper bakery bag holding fake bread is a fond nod to his love of good bread. Most of this comes out of an ordinary closet, which makes it a solid pick for beginners and casual meetups.
7. Office Worker Nanami Cosplay With Briefcase

Lean fully into the salaryman. A beige suit, powder-blue shirt, mustard patterned tie, dark brown belt and matching shoes, plus green glasses, a simple watch and a structured briefcase filled with harmless papers, make a crisp office version. Brush the wig's top firmly back from a sharp part. Keep the face professional: matte base, groomed brows, light jaw contour, neutral lips. A clipped employee badge on the jacket pocket is a small touch I like, as long as it doesn't cover the lapel. For photos, stand tall and check your watch; it's the most Nanami pose there is.
8. Winter Nanami Cosplay With Wool Overcoat

For a cold-weather event, a camel wool overcoat over the beige suit, blue shirt and yellow tie looks deliberate rather than like you just kept your coat on. Add dark brown leather gloves, a neutral scarf, thick socks and weather-resistant ankle boots, with the glasses and watch staying put. Watch the coat collar: a high, stiff collar rubs the back of a short wig and lifts the nape, so I pin the wig a little lower at the neck. Keep makeup light, since foundation transfers onto wool scarves. A structured work bag or a closed umbrella is enough of a prop, and the long coat gives a strong outline for outdoor photos.
9. Summer Nanami Cosplay With Linen Suit

In heat, swap wool for a beige linen-blend suit. Wear the jacket over a short-sleeve blue button-down with matching trousers, a loosely knotted yellow tie, the tinted glasses, a slim watch, and brown loafers with no-show socks. A linen blend is the one I'd buy rather than pure linen, because pure linen creases the moment you sit and never quite recovers on the day. Choose a short, ventilated wig and hold the part with a light spray. A mattifying primer and brow gel are about all the makeup heat allows. A small tan portfolio or a reusable cup is an easy prop for hot outdoor events or crowded halls.
10. Rainy Day Nanami Cosplay With Trench Coat

A tan trench coat makes a practical rainy-day Nanami. Layer it over the blue shirt, beige trousers and yellow tie, with green glasses, a brown belt, waterproof Chelsea boots and a watch. Hold the wig's front with a humidity-resistant spray, since rain drops a lifted fringe flat within minutes. Keep makeup waterproof and minimal. Carry a closed black umbrella and a slim document bag rather than anything awkward in a crowd. Wear the trench partly open so the shirt and tie show; buttoned up, he turns into a generic detective.
11. Feminine Nanami Cosplay With Pantsuit

A women's pantsuit captures his structure comfortably. Choose a fitted beige blazer, high-waisted wide-leg trousers and a soft blue blouse, then add the yellow tie, green glasses, a brown belt and block-heel loafers. A short blond pixie wig swept back from the part, or your own hair shaped to the same line, keeps the read. Matte makeup with soft cheek sculpting and a neutral beige lip suits it. A watch and a compact brown briefcase finish it, and I'd skip extra jewelry so the tailoring stays the focus. Wide-leg trousers need the hem just brushing the shoe; too long and they catch on every escalator.
12. Feminine Nanami Cosplay With Skirt Suit

For a skirt version, pair a beige blazer with a matching knee-length pencil skirt and a tucked-in blue shirt, plus the yellow tie, green glasses, sheer neutral tights and brown low-heeled ankle boots. A blond bob wig swept firmly to one side keeps his controlled shape. Keep the face professional with a matte base, strong brows and a muted rose lip, and add a slim watch, structured handbag and light folder. I always do the sit test with a pencil skirt: if it rides up or splits a back vent when you sit on a low chair, size up or choose one with stretch. Every accessory here still points back to his tidy, businesslike personality.
13. Plus-Size Nanami Cosplay With Tailored Suit

A plus-size Nanami comes down to fit and proportion. Pick a beige suit with stretch trousers, a jacket that closes without pulling at the button, and a blue shirt with room in the shoulders. Add the patterned tie, glasses, a brown belt and cushioned brown dress shoes. Black suspenders hold trousers up better than a belt on a long day and show nicely when the jacket comes off. Style the wig into a smooth part with natural matte makeup. A watch and a roomy briefcase finish it. I'd spend a little on hemming the sleeves and trousers; it's the cheapest way to make an affordable suit look made for you.
14. Curly Hair Nanami Cosplay With Beige Suit

Curly hair can carry his color without being flattened. Wear the classic beige suit, blue shirt, yellow tie, tinted glasses and brown oxfords. Shape natural curls into a controlled side sweep, and add temporary blond color wax to a few sections if you like, or choose a short curly blond wig. Keep makeup matte with structured brows and a neutral lip, and add black suspenders, a watch and a brown portfolio. I'd pin longer curls back from the temples, because curls resting on the glasses push the lenses out of line and hide your eyes in photos.
15. Natural Hair Nanami Cosplay With Blond Tips

You don't need a wig for a convincing Nanami. Style short natural hair up and slightly to one side, then work washable blond color wax into the tips. Pair it with a beige blazer and trousers, a muted blue shirt and the patterned tie, plus the glasses, a plain watch, brown shoes and a dark belt. Matte powder and clean brows give his composed expression. A compact briefcase or clipboard keeps the office theme. Color wax rubs off on a white collar the moment you sweat, so I test it the day before and wear a towel around the shoulders while applying it.
16. Long Wig Nanami Cosplay With Tailored Vest

A longer wig gives a fashion-led Nanami while keeping the side part. Choose a shoulder-length blond wig, tuck one side behind the ear and lift the crown away from the face. Wear a beige tailored vest over a blue shirt with high-waisted tan trousers and the yellow tie, plus green glasses, a brown belt, a watch and polished loafers. Soft matte makeup and neutral lips keep it mature. A slim document folder is enough prop beside the longer hair. Tucking a wig behind the ear puts pressure on the glasses' arms, so I slip the temples over the wig, not under it, and pin just behind the ear.
17. Easy Nanami Cosplay From Closet Basics

Most of this easy version is probably already in your closet: any light blue button-down, khaki trousers or tan chinos, and a thrifted beige blazer if you can find one. Paint irregular black spots onto a plain yellow tie with fabric paint, and add brown work shoes, a basic belt, tinted glasses and an everyday watch. A short blond wig sells it fastest, though temporary hair color works. Powder, filled brows and a laptop bag or document folder finish it. The colors don't need to match exactly. If beige, blue and yellow stay consistent, people read him, and that's all a short-notice costume needs.
18. Thrifted Nanami Cosplay With Vintage Suit

A secondhand suit gives realistic texture for less. Look for a beige or light brown two-piece, then add a used blue dress shirt and a patterned yellow tie. If you can't get alterations, hemming tape will shorten sleeves and trousers for the day; I'd test it on an inside seam first, as some tapes leave a shiny line on lighter wool. Brown thrifted shoes, the glasses, a watch and a vintage briefcase finish the outfit, with a neat blond wig and simple matte makeup. Clean and steam everything before wearing. Small color differences between pieces look lived-in, which suits a character who wears his suit to work every day.
19. No-Sew Nanami Cosplay With DIY Tie

No sewing needed here. Start with a store-bought beige blazer, tan trousers and a blue button-down, then cut black felt spots and stick them to a plain yellow tie with fabric-safe adhesive dots so they can come off later. Add the glasses, a watch, a brown belt and comfortable dress shoes, and slick the wig back from its part with gel or wig wax. Mattifying powder and brow pencil do the face. Draw a simple seven-to-three ratio diagram on a cardboard folder for a fan-favorite, harmless prop. Felt spots lift at the corners on a silk tie, so I press each one for a full minute and check them halfway through the day.
20. Budget Nanami Cosplay With Khaki Separates

Matching suit pieces get expensive, so this budget version uses separates in close neutral tones: a thrifted beige blazer, khaki work pants and a light blue shirt. Add a cheap yellow tie marked with black fabric paint, green costume glasses and brown shoes you own. A low-cost blond wig looks much sharper after a careful trim and a gentle steam to flatten the fibers into the part. Everyday makeup that mattifies the skin and strengthens the brows is plenty, and suspenders, a simple watch and a secondhand messenger bag fill it out. Keep the beiges reasonably close; under hall lighting nobody notices a half-shade difference.
21. Formal Nanami Cosplay With Double-Breasted Suit

A double-breasted beige suit gives his business wardrobe a formal turn. Choose a jacket with clean lapels and wear it with matching trousers, the blue shirt and the yellow patterned tie, plus dark brown monk-strap shoes, a matching belt, green glasses and a metal watch. Sculpt a golden-blond wig into the part with controlled volume at the front. Matte foundation, sharp brows and defined cheek contour give a clean, camera-ready face, and a leather document case with a folded pocket square adds formality. Double-breasted jackets look sloppy unbuttoned, so I keep them closed for standing photos and only open them to sit.
22. Black Suit Nanami Cosplay With Gold Tie

A black suit is a dramatic alternative that still keeps his color signals. Wear a sharply tailored black jacket and trousers with a slate-blue shirt and a gold tie with uneven dark markings, plus the glasses, black socks, brown or black dress shoes and a minimal watch. The blond wig contrasts strongly against black, so every stray hair shows; I give the part an extra pass with wig wax. Use matte makeup with structured contour and a neutral lip, and carry a black briefcase with a small gold ratio symbol. It's further from the screen than beige, but hair, glasses and tie still make him obvious, especially against a light background.
23. Nanami Cosplay With Turtleneck And Overcoat

Swap the dress shirt for a fitted blue-gray turtleneck for a sleek cold-weather Nanami. Layer a camel overcoat over beige tailored trousers, add the green glasses, a leather watch and dark brown Chelsea boots, and tuck a yellow patterned pocket square into the coat to reference the tie a turtleneck can't hold. Turtlenecks push up against a short wig's nape, so I choose a slightly lower mock neck if the wig sits short. Keep the face clean and matte, and carry a structured brown work bag. It's an interpretation rather than a recreation, but the colors fit him, and every piece goes back into an everyday wardrobe afterward.
24. Dark Academia Nanami Cosplay With Sweater Vest

This one leans into a dark academia mood. Layer a brown sweater vest over a powder-blue dress shirt and add tan pleated trousers, the yellow tie, green glasses and dark brown brogues. Carry a beige blazer over one arm or wear it when it cools down. Style the wig with a precise part and use muted matte makeup. A vintage watch, a leather satchel and a notebook full of ratio diagrams finish it. I'd choose a fitted vest over an oversized one, because a slouchy knit undoes his disciplined outline. It photographs well around libraries, old brick buildings and campus-style spots.
25. Streetwear Nanami Cosplay With Bomber Jacket

Streetwear Nanami keeps the palette and loosens everything else. Wear a beige bomber over a pale blue overshirt and straight-leg tan cargo pants, then knot a shortened yellow patterned tie loosely at the neck. Add the glasses, a black crossbody bag and brown-and-cream sneakers, and style the wig into a textured side sweep instead of a flat office part. Keep makeup matte with clean brows. A watch and a compact notebook bring back his precision. Empty the cargo pockets or keep them flat; bulging pockets wreck the controlled shape that keeps this one recognizable as him.
26. Techwear Nanami Cosplay With Utility Vest

For a futuristic techwear version, put a structured beige utility vest over a blue mock-neck shirt and tapered tan cargo trousers, with a narrow yellow patterned tie under the vest. Add green wraparound glasses, black gloves and brown technical boots, and style a platinum-blond wig with a sharp, smooth part. Matte makeup with angular brows and a hint of gray contour keeps it clean. A small belt pouch, a watch and a clear tablet prop suggest his analytical mind without anything unsafe. I'd tidy every strap with elastic keepers; loose straps and buckles catch on bags and railings in a crowd.
27. Cyberpunk Nanami Cosplay With Reflective Glasses

A bright cyberpunk Nanami uses a metallic beige jacket, a fitted blue shirt and slim tan trousers with reflective piping. Add a luminous yellow patterned tie, mirrored green glasses and brown platform boots with cushioned soles. Lift a pale blond wig into a high, precise side sweep held with strong wig spray. Matte skin, structured contour and one thin gold line near the temple are enough futuristic makeup. Wear a digital-style watch and carry a clear folder with geometric ratio graphics. I'd keep body armor out of it entirely; the moment the silhouette gets bulky, the suit shape that tells people who he is disappears.
28. Steampunk Nanami Cosplay With Waistcoat

Steampunk can build on his formalwear without turning cluttered. Wear a beige waistcoat over a blue high-collar shirt with brown tailored trousers and a yellow patterned cravat, plus round green-tinted glasses, brown lace-up boots, leather wrist cuffs and a pocket watch. Sweep a sandy-blond wig back with restrained volume. Matte makeup with warm brown contour suits the vintage palette. A slim leather folio with brass-colored ratio markings beats any mechanical or weapon-like prop. A long tan coat works in cooler weather. I stop at three steampunk details; past that, he becomes a generic steampunk gentleman.
29. Retro Nanami Cosplay With Wide-Leg Suit

A 1970s-style Nanami pairs a camel blazer and wide-leg trousers with a blue shirt that has a broad pointed collar. Add a mustard patterned tie, oversized green glasses, a brown belt and platform loafers, and style a honey-blond wig with a deep side part and smooth crown volume. Keep the makeup controlled, with straight brows and warm contour, no glitter. A rectangular vintage briefcase and a gold-toned watch finish it. The shoulders are what I'd check first: the jacket has to fit there, or the wide trousers look like a mistake rather than a decade.
30. 1990s Office Nanami Cosplay With Long Blazer

The 1990s office version is forgiving for thrift finds, since relaxed jackets and pleated trousers suit the decade. Choose a slightly oversized beige blazer, pleated tan trousers and a tucked-in blue shirt, plus the yellow tie, green oval glasses, a brown belt and square-toe loafers. Keep the wig's sides smooth with modest volume on top, and use matte makeup with soft brows. A boxy work bag, a paper planner and a pager-style accessory clipped to the belt set the era. Roll the jacket sleeves once for a more relaxed line. I'd keep the shirt crisp, because that's what stops oversized from reading as sloppy.
31. Cute Nanami Cosplay With Cropped Blazer

A cute Nanami plays with proportion while staying polished. Wear a cropped beige blazer over a blue blouse with high-waisted tan trousers and a neatly knotted yellow tie, then add rounded or heart-shaped green glasses, brown platform loafers and a small matching handbag. A fluffy blond bob wig with a small upward sweep at the front suits it, with fresh matte makeup and a muted peach lip. A tiny plush bread charm on the bag is a sweet nod to him. Keep the colors restrained; once pink or pastel creeps in, he reads as a generic school outfit.
32. Chibi Nanami Cosplay With Oversized Tie

Chibi Nanami works only if every exaggeration is deliberate. Start with a short beige jacket, relaxed tan trousers and a pale blue shirt, then add an oversized yellow tie with big dark spots, rounded green glasses and chunky brown loafers. Style a fluffy golden-blond wig into a large side sweep that stays clear of your eyes. Rosy cheeks, strong brows and a tiny neutral mouth give the cartoon face. Carry a miniature briefcase or an oversized foam calculator. Crop the trousers above the ankle; I'd cut and hem them rather than roll them, since rolled hems just look like a suit that doesn't fit.
33. Comfortable Nanami Cosplay With Knit Trousers

For a long day, build him from soft clothes. A beige knit blazer with matching drawstring trousers looks tailored from a few steps away, and a breathable blue polo-style shirt with a clip-on yellow tie keeps the neck free. Add the glasses and cushioned brown sneakers, and style a light blond wig into a loose sweep with very little product. Mattifying sunscreen, brow gel and a cream contour are easy to touch up. A soft messenger bag holds your essentials. I'd add cushioned insoles if you expect hours of standing, because sore feet end a costume day faster than a hot wig.
34. Convention Nanami Cosplay With Removable Layers

Build this one from layers you can peel off as halls warm up. Start with a blue short-sleeve shirt and tan trousers, then add black suspenders, the yellow patterned tie and a light beige blazer, plus the glasses, a watch, padded brown loafers and a compact crossbody briefcase. Use a ventilated wig and a transfer-resistant matte base around the glasses, where foundation rubs off first. The blazer folds into the bag when it gets hot, and the suspenders keep him recognizable without it. Choose a clip-on or breakaway tie and skip sharp tie pins. He looks finished in every layer combination.
35. Nanami Cosplay With Bakery Bag

Nanami's fondness for good bread makes a sweet off-duty costume. Wear a pale blue shirt with rolled sleeves, tan tailored trousers, a brown belt and comfortable loafers, plus the yellow tie, green glasses and a classic watch. Style the wig into a clean part with matte makeup. Carry a paper bakery bag holding light fake pastries, with a folded beige blazer over one arm. Real bread goes stale and crumbs everywhere, so I make the pastries from painted foam or felt and staple the bag shut. A reusable cup is another easy hand prop for full-length photos.
36. Nanami Cosplay With Coffee And Newspaper

Picture him starting a carefully timed workday with coffee and a newspaper. A fitted beige suit over a blue shirt, the yellow tie, green glasses, a brown belt and polished derby shoes make the base. Style the wig with a disciplined part and add light under-eye shading for an early-morning face. Carry an empty reusable cup and a folded mock newspaper printed with made-up headlines, plus a brown briefcase and a watch. I print the newspaper on a single folded sheet, since a full paper falls apart in a crowd. Checking the watch or reading while standing gives you easy poses.
37. Monochrome Beige Nanami Cosplay

A nearly single-color version makes an editorial Nanami. Combine a sand-colored suit with a pale beige shirt, a camel patterned tie, a brown belt and tonal suede loafers, and keep the link to him through the green glasses, the short blond wig and the structured shape. Give the part sharp lift at the front, and use neutral matte makeup with stronger brows. A tan watch strap and matching portfolio carry the tonal effect. Tone-on-tone only works with texture contrast, so I mix a smooth suit with a knit tie or suede shoes; all-flat beige looks like a uniform. It's an interpretation, but his hair, eyewear and posture make it clear.
38. Blue And Gold Nanami Cosplay

This one swaps beige for his accent colors: a navy suit, a medium-blue shirt and a rich gold patterned tie. Warm brown belt and dress boots balance the cool navy, and the green glasses stay. Set a golden-blond wig into the swept-back part with wig wax, and use clean matte makeup with a touch of golden-brown contour. A navy briefcase with a small gold ratio graphic and a gold-toned watch are enough; more jewelry fights the tailoring. Navy shows lint and wig hairs badly, so I keep a lint roller in the bag. It stands out best against white, gray or pale stone backgrounds.
39. Field Mission Nanami Cosplay With Utility Coat

For a field-ready version without anything frightening, wear a durable beige utility coat over the blue shirt, yellow tie and reinforced tan trousers. Add green protective-style glasses, brown lace-up boots, a sturdy belt and comfortable gloves, with the wig's part set firmly enough to survive moving around outdoors. Long-wear matte makeup keeps the face polished. Clip a notebook, a small flashlight and a soft measuring tape to a compact crossbody bag as work gear. Roll the coat sleeves slightly to show the watch. I'd leave anything blade-shaped at home; his work tools are the giveaway fans look for, but even a cloth-wrapped stand-in can run into an event's prop rules.
40. Luxury Editorial Nanami Cosplay With Camel Suit

The last look is pure fashion: an impeccably tailored camel suit with a silky blue shirt, a gold-and-black patterned tie, dark green tinted glasses and polished brown loafers. Sculpt a honey-blond wig into a glossy side part. Keep the makeup refined, with matte skin, precise brows and a satin neutral lip. A slim watch, leather gloves tucked into a pocket and a structured portfolio finish it. I press everything the morning of and match all the browns, from belt to shoes to gloves, because a mismatched brown shows up instantly next to camel. It turns his salaryman wardrobe into something for a studio portrait without losing his restraint.
Small Fixes That Make a Cheap Suit Look Tailored
Nanami lives or dies on fit, and most off-the-rack or thrifted suits are close but not quite. These are the checks I make before buying, in order of how hard they are to fix.
- Shoulders first. The jacket's shoulder seam should sit at the edge of your own shoulder. This is the one area that is costly to alter, so walk away from a suit that's wrong here.
- Sleeves next. About a half inch of shirt cuff should show at the wrist. Hemming tape can shorten a sleeve for a day if you can't get it altered.
- Trousers should just touch the top of the shoe with little or no fold. Pooled fabric at the ankle makes even a good suit look borrowed.
- Steam everything, including the tie. Creases from storage photograph far worse than they look in a mirror.
Glasses That Stay Put Over a Wig
Tinted glasses slide on a slick wig. I put the wig on first, then slip the glasses' arms over the wig and pin a bobby pin just behind each ear to hold them. If you wear prescription glasses, a clip-on green tint over your own frames is easier than buying a second pair, and it keeps you able to see all day.
Get the Suit Right and Nanami Follows
Every Nanami above starts from the same short list: a beige suit, a blue shirt, a spotted yellow tie, a blond side part, tinted glasses, a watch and brown shoes. From there you can bend it for budget, body, style, venue or weather, and thrifted separates work as well as custom pieces when they fit neatly and share the palette. If I had a weekend, I'd thrift the suit, have the sleeves and hems taken up, and paint the tie myself. Comfortable shoes, breathable fabrics, glasses that stay put and harmless props will make the day as easy as the look is sharp.
