Working from home changed what getting dressed means, and athleisure has become the default for a lot of remote workers. The version I help people build mixes soft, stretchy fabrics with enough structure to look sharp on camera, so you can sit through a day of calls at the kitchen table and still feel like you're at work. Matching knit sets, joggers with a polished top and the old leggings-and-big-sweater pairing all appear below. Each of the 30 outfits is a complete look you can put on in the morning and keep on until you close the laptop.

What Your Webcam Picks Up From the Waist Up
On a call, people see a small rectangle: your face, your neckline and your shoulders. That's where the styling effort should go. I check outfits on the actual camera before a big meeting, because a laptop lens treats clothes differently from a mirror.
- Necklines frame the face. A crewneck, mock neck, polo collar or quarter-zip looks more finished on screen than a stretched-out tee.
- Very fine stripes and tiny checks can flicker or shimmer on webcams. Bold stripes and solids are safer.
- Bright white can lose all detail under a strong light, and pure black can swallow your outline against a dark wall. Mid-tones are easiest.
- A color close to your face matters most. If a shade makes you look tired in the selfie camera, it will on the call too.
- Texture helps. Ribbing, waffle knit and brushed fabrics catch light and keep a plain outfit from looking flat.
If you only change one thing for an important call, change the top. Nobody is checking your sweatpants.
1. Matching ribbed knit set WFH outfit

A ribbed knit set is the quickest way I know to look intentional while feeling half in pajamas. A long-sleeve top that's relaxed but not baggy, with matching wide or straight knit pants in charcoal, oatmeal or deep navy, keeps the outfit to one decision. The rib gives the fabric shadow and texture on camera, so you don't look flat. Small gold hoops, a simple chain and plush slides or knit sneakers finish it. On days stacked with virtual meetings it reads polished from the chest up and stays comfortable through hours of sitting.
2. Wide-leg sweatpants with fitted bodysuit outfit

Shapeless joggers look sloppy; high-waisted wide-leg sweatpants in heavy French terry hold their line like soft trousers. Tuck in a fitted long-sleeve bodysuit or a ribbed crewneck tee so the waist shows and the proportion stays clean. Tonal pairs work well: heather grey with charcoal, cream with beige. Platform sneakers or white leather trainers, a slim watch and small studs are all the finishing it needs. The weight of the terry is what matters here. Thin fleece clings to the leg and pills at the inner thigh within weeks.
3. Quarter-zip pullover with leggings outfit

A structured quarter-zip pullover is useful for remote work because the collar frames your face like a shirt would. Choose heavyweight cotton or a merino blend that stands up on its own; thin knits flop open and the collar disappears on screen. Layer it over a white tank with high-waisted matte black leggings, ideally with side pockets for your phone. Light running shoes or neutral knit sneakers, blue-light glasses and a low bun or claw clip finish it. I'd reach for this on a cold morning with an early stand-up.
4. Cashmere hoodie with lounge shorts outfit

A cashmere or good cashmere-blend hoodie drapes better than cotton fleece and has a soft glow that looks deliberate rather than gym-ready. Pair it with matching lounge shorts in camel, cream or heather grey. It suits warm months or a well-heated home; in a cold house the bare legs will win the argument. Shearling slides or leather slippers, a silk scrunchie and minimal gold jewelry finish it. Cashmere pills where your forearms rest on the desk, so keep a fabric comb nearby and use it weekly.
5. Split-hem leggings with oversized tee outfit

Split-hem leggings have a small slit or flare at the ankle that lengthens the leg line. I pair them with a crisp oversized white cotton tee, half-tucked at the front to hint at a waist. Black or deep charcoal with a high-rise waistband gives all-day support. Fuzzy slippers indoors, light sneakers if you step out, plus a thin chain or small hoops. A heavier cotton tee hangs better than a thin one, which sticks to the waistband and shows every ridge.
6. Oversized blazer with bike shorts outfit

Business on top and easy below is how a lot of modern remote-work dressing actually works. An oversized menswear blazer in black, houndstooth or beige goes over a fitted white tank or sports bra, with mid-thigh compression bike shorts in a dark color. White ankle socks and retro trainers finish it, with a watch and small hoops. One warning about houndstooth: small, tight checks can shimmer on some webcams. If yours does that, choose a solid blazer for presentation days.
7. Knit polo shirt with trouser leggings outfit

A soft knit polo with a structured collar and real buttons replaces a stiff button-down without losing the professional frame around your face. Tuck it into high-waisted trouser leggings, which look like slim trousers from the front but have a hidden elastic waist and stretchy ponte. Navy with black or olive with cream keeps the palette quiet. Leather loafers or ballet flats with arch support, a gold chain and studs finish it. Ponte is the fabric to look for here; it's thick enough to skim over the seat without showing the waistband of your underwear.
8. Joggers with graphic tee and shacket outfit

Tapered joggers in olive, black or khaki with a vintage band tee or soft graphic print take a streetwear turn. An unbuttoned shacket in brushed cotton or flannel adds texture and warmth. Keep the jogger slim but not tight, with a clean elastic cuff at the ankle. Chunky skate shoes or platform low-tops and a cap or beanie for low-effort hair days finish it. Graphics can be distracting on a formal call, so I'd save this for creative sessions and casual team check-ins.
9. Flared leggings with relaxed sweatshirt outfit

Flared leggings have a 70s feel and lengthen the leg. A high-waisted pair in black or espresso with a gentle kick at the hem goes with a relaxed crewneck sweatshirt in oatmeal or heather grey, cropped or front-tucked so the waistband shows. The flare gives a bit of movement straight leggings don't have. Platform sneakers or low trainers in a coordinating color, a pendant and a sleek ponytail finish it. The flare balances fuller hips, which is why I suggest it to pear and hourglass shapes first.
10. Sweatshirt dress with white sneakers outfit

A sweatshirt dress in mid-weight French terry or soft fleece is about the quickest outfit there is. A mock neck or hood detail gives the neckline some interest on screen. Slightly oversized works, but it needs some shape, from a gentle A-line or a side slit, or it turns into a sack. Heather grey, charcoal or burgundy with white low-top sneakers and a long pendant to draw the eye up. Check the length while sitting; sweatshirt dresses ride up more than you'd expect in a desk chair.
11. Matching sweatsuit with high-top sneakers outfit

A matching sweatsuit in heavyweight organic cotton or brushed fleece looks far more considered than an odd hoodie and odd sweatpants. A fitted or slightly cropped hoodie with straight-leg sweatpants in sand, slate blue or muted sage is the shape I like. Quality shows in the details: firm ribbed cuffs, a sturdy metal zip and a hood that holds its shape instead of collapsing. High-top canvas or leather sneakers add an edge, and a leather tote handles a quick coffee run.
12. Leggings with tunic sweater and ankle boots outfit

For cooler months, a fine-gauge tunic sweater to mid-thigh over sleek leggings gives coverage and an easy proportion. Camel, cream or charcoal all work. The length also ends any worry about whether your leggings are fully opaque. A thin camisole underneath adds warmth. Swapping sneakers for low-heeled leather ankle boots makes the whole outfit look more dressed, even if nobody sees your feet. A long pendant and a low bun finish it. Fine-gauge knits are also less bulky under a desk than chunky ones, which catch on chair arms.
13. Athletic jumpsuit with denim jacket outfit

A stretch-knit jumpsuit in ponte or performance jersey makes a sleek all-in-one base. Look for a zip or snap front, a cinched waist and a tapered leg. A cropped or classic denim jacket over it adds structure and breaks up the long line. White platform sneakers, a watch and small hoops finish it. The front opening matters more than people realise for a home office; you'll take a dozen bathroom breaks in a day, and a back zip gets tiresome fast. It goes from morning yoga to desk work to an afternoon errand.
14. High-waisted leggings with crop top and duster cardigan outfit

A long duster cardigan over a fitted crop top and high-waisted leggings adds warmth and a bit of drama. Choose leggings with a compressive waistband and a matte finish in black or navy. The crop top should meet the waistband without a gap, or swap in a longer tank tucked in. An oatmeal or heather grey duster adds a long vertical line and moves softly as you walk. Pointed knit flats or minimal sneakers and a long layered necklace finish it. Long dusters snag on chair wheels, so tie it loosely or slip it off when you sit for a long stretch.
15. Tailored track pants with silk camisole and blazer outfit

Tailored track pants in matte crepe or performance twill, straight or slightly tapered with a clean elastic waist, look like dress trousers from a distance. A silk or satin-finish camisole in ivory or champagne brings a soft sheen to the camera, and a knit or stretch jersey blazer in a matching neutral goes over the top. Pointed flats or low block-heel mules, pearl studs and a fine bracelet finish it. Satin can flare white under a strong ring light, so angle your light a little or pick the champagne over bright ivory. This is my choice for a client pitch from home.
16. Fleece zip-up with biker shorts and crew socks outfit

An oversized fleece zip-up with a stand collar and plush inside, worn partly unzipped over a white cropped tank, gives a sporty collegiate look. High-waisted black biker shorts below make a sleek base against the bulky top. White crew socks scrunched above white leather trainers or retro runners, a low ponytail and a cap finish it. It's a light-schedule outfit. If your home office runs cold in winter, bare legs at a desk get chilly by mid-afternoon.
17. Mock-neck pullover with wide-leg trousers outfit

A slim mock-neck pullover in fine merino or smooth double knit looks very refined on camera, because the high neck frames your face and pulls focus up. Burgundy, olive or camel all read well. Tuck it into wide-leg performance trousers with a flat front and elastic back. Fitted top, full trouser: the contrast makes a strong modern shape. Pointed knit flats or minimal leather sneakers, small gold knot earrings and a bangle finish it. I'd wear this for an important presentation or an interview. Mock necks do run warm, so if your room gets stuffy in the afternoon, merino handles it better than acrylic.
18. Sweatpants with henley top and puffer vest outfit

For a drafty home office, soft cotton sweatpants with a long-sleeve waffle-knit henley do the work. The button placket on the henley gives a little tailored detail a plain tee lacks. A light quilted puffer vest on top, black over olive or navy over grey, adds core warmth without heavy sleeves that drag across the keyboard. Lined slip-on clogs or fleece-lined moccasins and a leather-strap watch finish it. It feels like a warm cabin morning and keeps you neat on camera through a winter workday.
19. Yoga pants with long-sleeve tee and puffer jacket outfit

Yoga pants look grown-up when the seams are clean and the finish is matte; shiny spandex reads as gym kit. Pair a soft pair, ideally with a discreet side pocket, with a fitted long-sleeve performance tee that wicks. A cropped or hip-length puffer in glossy or matte nylon adds a sporty, warm layer. White low tops or trail-inspired running shoes and a smartwatch finish it. This is the outfit for anyone who fits a lunchtime walk between meetings; the puffer comes off at the door and the rest still looks put together.
20. Ribbed knit midi dress with belt and sneakers outfit

A ribbed knit midi dress that skims the body is a quick, polished one-piece. Short or elbow sleeves and a modest scoop or boat neck sit well on screen. The rib stretches comfortably across different body shapes, and a slim leather or elastic belt at the waist stops it looking boxy. White leather sneakers, small gold hoops and a fine chain finish it. Below-the-knee length looks graceful when you stand up mid-call. I'd choose a rib with some weight; thin ones show every line underneath.
21. Hoodie with slip skirt and chunky boots outfit

Unexpected pairings make the most interesting athleisure. A cropped or boxy hoodie in cream, grey or black goes over a silky bias-cut slip skirt in champagne, mocha or olive. The sporty top and the fluid skirt pull against each other in a good way. Tuck just the front of the hoodie into the skirt waistband to show your shape. Lace-up combat boots or lug-sole Chelsea boots add an edge, with a mini shoulder bag and layered silver necklaces. Satin creases at the lap after a long sit, so this suits a creative day with a few calls more than eight hours at the desk.
22. Turtleneck bodysuit with high-waisted joggers outfit

A sleeveless or short-sleeve turtleneck bodysuit gives a smooth line into high-waisted joggers. Since it snaps underneath, nothing bunches at the waistband, sitting or standing. Matte performance jersey on top and tonal joggers below, mocha with cream or all black, with a tapered leg and a firm drawstring. Pointed knit mules or suede slip-on sneakers, a cuff bracelet and a low ponytail finish it. The long, clean line is particularly flattering on taller frames. Bodysuit snaps are the one downside; check they sit flat, because a bulky snap shows through thin joggers.
23. Polo shirt with stretch golf trousers outfit

Borrow from the golf course for a crisp home-office outfit. A pique polo in performance fabric has a structured collar and resists creasing. Tailored stretch golf trousers in a slim or straight cut with a hidden elastic waist look like regular trousers. Navy and white, blush and beige, or black and grey keep the palette preppy. Leather or suede loafers, or clean white spikeless golf shoes that pass as sneakers, a simple belt and a tennis bracelet finish it. Performance polos can trap heat in a warm room, so a cotton pique is better if your office runs hot.
24. Rugby shirt with leggings and trail sneakers outfit

A thick cotton rugby shirt with a contrast collar and a short button placket brings sporty collegiate charm. A bold stripe or a solid forest green or burgundy works, long-sleeved and slightly oversized over black high-waisted leggings. The heavy cotton gives structure up top that sleek leggings don't. Chunky trail sneakers, a high ponytail and a sports watch finish it. Rugby shirts are warm, which makes them a strong cool-weather choice and a sweaty summer one.
25. Cropped sweatshirt with high-rise leggings and cap outfit

A cropped sweatshirt that ends right at the waistband of high-rise leggings gives a defined, athletic shape. Soft brushed fleece with a raw hem and dropped shoulders sits well. Black leggings with a V-shaped or contoured waist are flattering. The crop draws the eye to the waist without showing much skin, as long as the two pieces meet when you raise your arms. A tonal cap, white platform sneakers and a mini backpack or sling bag for stepping out finish it. It's a fresh spring and fall outfit.
26. Bomber jacket with tank top and joggers outfit

A light satin or matte nylon bomber over a ribbed tank adds street style and structure without weight. Olive, black or ivory with slim joggers in a matching or nearby tone keeps it tidy. A high-neck or scoop tank in cotton-modal is soft and drapes well. Sleek leather sneakers or slip-on platform trainers, a thin chain and small hoops finish it. The bomber comes off easily when the heating kicks in, and the tank and joggers still look complete. Useful in spring and fall when the house warms and cools through the day.
27. Open cardigan with tank and wide-leg yoga pants outfit

An open-front cardigan or a structured knit jacket adds a long, soft layer. Wear it over a fitted ribbed tank tucked into high-waisted wide-leg yoga pants with a flat front and a drapey fabric that looks like trousers. A tonal palette, cream on cream or grey with charcoal, gives a calm, pulled-together effect. Leather or suede backless mules, a long pendant and a few bracelets on one wrist finish it. Stacked bracelets clatter on a desk and a laptop, so I'd keep it to one or two on a heavy typing day.
28. Zip-up hoodie with cargo joggers and hiking boots outfit

A fitted zip-up hoodie with relaxed cargo joggers gives utility-style comfort. The joggers want side pockets and a tapered drawstring ankle; earth tones like sand, olive or brown fit the mood. Wear the hoodie open over a white or cream tee for easy adjustment. Light hiking boots or lug-sole ankle boots ground it, with a canvas backpack or crossbody, a watch and a low bun. I'd suggest this to anyone who takes a walk outside between calls; you're out the door without changing anything.
29. Sweater vest over button-down shirt with stretch trousers outfit

A light knit sweater vest over a crisp white button-down makes a preppy look that feels unexpected in athleisure. Pick a V-neck vest in fine merino or a cotton blend in camel, navy or grey. Leave the shirt untucked or half-tucked over stretchy performance trousers with an elastic back that look like chinos. Leather driving mocs or ballet flats, a leather-strap watch and tortoiseshell glasses finish it. White shirts can blow out on bright webcams, losing all detail, so a soft off-white or pale blue often looks better on screen. It's a good choice for virtual networking or a presentation.
30. Terry cloth matching set with flip-flops outfit

A soft terry cloth set in a creamy pastel or sandy neutral is relaxed summer dressing at home. The top can be a zip hoodie or crewneck, the bottoms shorts or cropped pants depending on your climate. Terry is absorbent and breathable, good for warm days, and a set with clean lines and minimal branding looks considered rather than beachwear. Supportive leather flip-flops or slides with arch support, a simple anklet and a low bun finish it. Terry loops snag on velcro and jewelry clasps, so watch your watch strap.
A Twelve-Piece Rotation for a Five-Day Week
Most of the outfits above come from the same small group of clothes. When I build a remote-work wardrobe with someone, I start with twelve pieces in two or three related colors and add only what's missing.
Bottoms
- Matte black high-waisted leggings
- Wide-leg French terry sweatpants
- Ponte trouser leggings or tailored track pants
- Bike shorts for warm days
Tops and layers
- A ribbed bodysuit and a heavier cotton tee
- A quarter-zip and a mock-neck pullover
- A knit polo
- An unstructured or knit blazer
- A long cardigan and a light vest
With those, every top works with at least three bottoms. Add a matching set or a sweatshirt dress for the days you don't want to think at all, and your mornings take a couple of minutes.
Shoes count even when nobody sees them
Hours in fluffy slippers or bare feet on a hard floor leave many people with sore arches by Friday, especially at a standing desk. I keep one pair of supportive indoor shoes, a knit sneaker or a clog with a shaped footbed, beside the desk. Putting them on is also a small signal to yourself that the workday has started, and taking them off marks the end of it.
Dress the Top Half First, Then Get Comfortable
A work-from-home athleisure wardrobe comes down to a few habits: give each outfit one piece with structure, keep the colors in one family and think about what the camera sees. The 30 looks above, from ribbed knit sets and blazer-with-bike-shorts pairings to terry sets and bodysuits, show you don't have to give up comfort to look professional. Rotate them by season, by how many calls are booked and by mood. Buy fewer, better pieces that mix with each other, and getting dressed for a day at home becomes quick and easy.
