Musa is the Winx fairy built around music, and her mix of magic and early-2000s fashion gives a costume maker plenty to play with. Below are thirty versions: her official transformations, from the first fairy form and Charmix through Enchantix to the aquatic, crystal, nature and cosmic forms, plus casual outfits, performance looks and fan-made takes. Most share a palette of red, magenta, purple and blue with sparkle, and the headphones, music notes and translucent wings are what tell people who you are. Some need real sewing; others come straight out of a closet. For each one I've covered clothing, hair, makeup, props and shoes.

Fairy Wings That Fit Through a Doorway
Nearly every Musa below has wings, and they cause more trouble than any other part of the costume. Two things decide whether they last the day: how wide they are and how they're attached.
Frame and fill
For small and medium wings, I bend fairly stiff craft wire into the shape, twist the ends together at the base and tape over the join. Stretch iridescent cellophane or organza over the frame and glue it at the back. Organza flexes when someone bumps you; cellophane creases and stays creased. For the stiffer, angular forms like Bloomix and Cosmix, clear plastic sheet cut with scissors holds the points better, and you can paint the outlines straight onto it.
Attaching them so they stay level
- Clear elastic loops worn like backpack straps are the most comfortable option, and they disappear under most of these wigs.
- A small felt or foam plate at the center gives the wings something to mount on, so the wire ends never touch your back.
- Make them detachable at that plate. You'll want them off in the car, at a table and on public transport.
- Before the day, walk through a doorway and sit in a chair wearing them. If either makes you turn sideways, trim the width.
Wings that sit no wider than a hand past each shoulder rarely need a second thought once they're on. Bigger ones look dramatic in photos but spend most of the day being carried.
1. Magic Winx Musa Cosplay

Her original fairy form is the one most people picture, and it's also simple to build. A sparkling red one-shoulder crop top joins a matching mini skirt with a sheer pink panel across the stomach; I'd cut the whole thing from stretch fabric or adapt dancewear, since the shapes are basic. Red knee-high wedge boots, or platform boot covers in the same red, go underneath. The wig is dark blue-black in two short, high pigtails with straight bangs. Soft pink shadow, sharp black liner and a glossy rose lip keep the face true to her, and small translucent wings edged in red finish the fairy outline. Cover a toy microphone in music-note stickers and rhinestones for the prop.
2. Charmix Musa Cosplay

Charmix reuses the first transformation, so if you've made that one, you're most of the way there. Keep the red one-shoulder top, the skirt, the sheer pink stomach panel and the red knee-high platforms. The new piece is the musical charm at the neckline or shoulder, cut from light foam with ribbon and stick-on gems, plus a small waist bag painted with sound waves. I attach the charm with a safety pin through a felt backing rather than glue, so it can move between outfits. The short pigtail wig and smooth bangs stay, while shimmery pink shadow, winged liner and silver face gems add the extra sparkle. Keep the wings compact so the charm stays visible, and carry a rhinestone microphone or red headphones.
3. Enchantix Musa Cosplay

Enchantix is all about ribbons, and ribbons are what go wrong. The base is a fitted magenta and pale pink top with golden-yellow ribbon over one shoulder, with red shorts or a short petal skirt over dance briefs. Pink and yellow ribbons wrap fuchsia heels and stop below the knee. Ribbon wraps slide down the calf within an hour, so I stitch a loop of clear elastic at the top of each wrap to hold it. Add a long blue-black wig in twin sections with wispy bangs and pink ties, then large stained-glass-style wings in pink, blue and purple for the big outline. Rosy shadow, fine glitter and a small fairy-dust bottle on a ribbon finish it; tack every loose ribbon end so it can't tangle in a crowd.
4. Believix Musa Cosplay

Believix has more layers than most, so it suits someone who enjoys detail. A magenta asymmetric tank goes over pale purple-blue capri leggings and fitted shorts, with a blue belt and a sheer pink ruffled overskirt tied at the back. Pale pink fingerless gloves add a layer without slowing your hands down. Bright red platforms with pink heels match the original, but decorated ankle boots read the same. The wig is knee-length blue-black, mostly loose, with a magenta headband and one thin braided ponytail; a wig that long knots where it rubs the wings, so I braid the hidden underlayer. Big rounded treble-clef wings with magenta borders and blue and violet interiors, pink shimmer, a few face gems and decorative headphones round it out.
5. Sophix Musa Cosplay

Sophix brings nature into her music, so the leaves are the detail to get right. Start with a magenta tank and fitted shorts and layer a light pink or purple petal skirt over the hips. Blue and green leaf appliqués go around the neckline, belt, gloves and skirt; felt leaves hold their shape, while thin satin ones curl. Purple leggings or tights add coverage, and magenta ankle boots get leafy ribbon wraps. Wear the long blue-black hair loose with one narrow braid and a floral headband. Rounded wings in pink, blue and green can be iridescent cellophane or organza, and organza survives being bumped far better. Soft green shadow, pink liner and pressed-flower face stickers suit it, with a small tambourine dressed in artificial leaves.
6. Lovix Musa Cosplay

Lovix is her winter form, which makes it the sensible pick for a cold night. A fitted magenta top, purple leggings and a short pink overskirt trimmed in white faux fur form the base, with cropped fingerless gloves, a fur-edged collar and insulated magenta boots. Faux fur sheds hard when cut, so I snip from the back through the backing only and shake each piece outside before sewing. Pink and icy blue translucent wings keep the fairy identity. A long blue-black wig with straight bangs, a narrow braid and crystal clips; cool pink shadow, silver liner and tiny snowflake gems instead of heavy makeup. Sparkly earmuff headphones are the music touch, and removable fur trim lets you cool down once you're indoors.
7. Harmonix Musa Cosplay

Harmonix moves, which is why it's worth the effort. A fitted tube top in red-violet, pink and pale blue with lace or scalloped trim goes over a layered violet tutu, with a long removable organza train. Tube tops slip, so I sew silicone gripper elastic inside the top edge. Wrap fuchsia and purple ribbons over low heels or dance shoes rather than stilettos. Style a very long wig into a soft mermaid-tail shape with pink flowers at the crown and ends, and add a gold forehead piece with a red shell centerpiece. Layered violet wings, glowing makeup and small music-note decorations finish it. Practice walking in the train before the day, especially on stairs.
8. Sirenix Musa Cosplay

Sirenix is the aquatic one, built from fitted stretch layers. A burgundy and red camisole-style top with pale red geometric panels sits over bright red leggings marked with uneven dark red stripes; fabric paint applied while the leggings are stretched over a board won't crack when you move. Add a short translucent sea-green ruffled skirt and red boots with fins of stiff organza in purple, pink and sea green. The wig is long and straight with violet streaks, small braids and jewel accessories. Teal, lavender and burgundy makeup, kept luminous rather than theatrical, goes with fin-shaped wings and a shell-decorated headset. Detachable ruffles make it easier to pack and repair.
9. Crystal Sirenix Musa Cosplay

Crystal Sirenix keeps the underwater outline and adds ice. Wear a dark pink sleeveless halter with blue stars, snowflakes and diamond shapes, a fluffy light pink tutu over patterned magenta leggings, and a removable dark pink back panel edged in pale faux fur. Light blue boots with lavender soles and pink accents go underneath, with elbow-length blue fingerless gloves trimmed in pearls and fluffy cuffs. Pearls sewn on one by one stay put; glued pearls pop off whenever you grip something. A long blue-black wig with lavender streaks gets blue and violet crystal clips. Translucent Sirenix-style wings, shimmering blue eyes and frosted pink lips go with it, and a crystal-covered microphone is the safe, light prop.
10. Bloomix Musa Cosplay

Bloomix leans toward armor, so the craft here is foam rather than fabric. A fitted magenta bodice with violet panels, scale texture and blue gems goes over full-length purple leggings or a stretch jumpsuit. The hip piece, shoulder details and wrist cuffs are craft foam; I warm the foam with a heat gun and curve it over my knee before attaching, so it sits on the body instead of sticking out flat. Purple or burgundy boots with painted metallic accents stay sturdy through a long day. Then a high ponytail with long curled sections and jewel clips, large angular wings in red, purple and blue, bold magenta liner, crystal gems and metallic headphones. Elastic straps let the armor move with you.
11. Mythix Musa Cosplay

Mythix is the storybook Musa, softer than the forms around it. A sparkling magenta mini dress with a fitted bodice sits over a fluffy pale pink tutu, with violet panels, gold trim and small blue gems at the neckline and waist. Magenta heels or ankle boots get pink ribbon wraps, and I'd choose the boots. Long, softly curled hair is partly gathered with a pointed crystal piece, and delicate translucent violet wings are outlined in red glitter foam. Pink and lavender shadow, curled lashes and a few cheek gems suit her. Swap the transformation's wand-like accessory for a decorative baton topped with a treble clef, which keeps it family-friendly and passes most prop rules.
12. Butterflix Musa Cosplay

Butterflix is one of the easier transformations to personalize, since the butterfly theme takes almost any color story. Wear a fitted pink and magenta mini dress with layered petal panels in lavender and pale blue, butterfly appliqués across the neckline, waist and wrist cuffs, purple tights and pink ankle boots with ribbon. A long blue-black wig with smooth bangs, a side braid and floral clips sits above it. The oversized wings carry magenta edges, blue centers and symmetrical music-note patterns; I build them in two halves that clip to a central plate, so they come off for the car and for eating. Pink, violet and aqua shadow with tiny butterfly stickers at the temples, and a hand drum or tambourine dressed in fabric butterflies.
13. Tynix Musa Cosplay

Gemstones make Tynix, and foam gems are where you can get hurt. Begin with a royal blue translucent bodysuit under a fitted magenta mini dress, a multilevel pink ruffled skirt, and blue, purple and rose crystal shapes cut from reflective foam. Sand every gem edge smooth before gluing, because cut foam corners scratch the inner arms all day. Magenta heeled sandals or boots get light gem shards too. The long blue-black wig has lavender highlights, mostly loose, with one small bun and a multicolored crystal flower. Deep blue wing frames filled with pink and purple translucent panels give the jewel effect, while lavender shimmer, a red pendant and a crystal headset finish it.
14. Cosmix Musa Cosplay

Cosmix is the space pop-star version, metallic and starry. A fitted magenta and purple bodysuit or dress with blue panels at the waist and shoulders goes under a short structured overskirt covered in silver stars, holographic dots and music-note appliqués. Purple knee-high boots with block heels and reflective trim go underneath. The wig is long, in a high ponytail with blue streaks and star clips; a long high ponytail drags at the crown, so I anchor it with a few bobby pins through the wig cap. Angular, futuristic wings with translucent pink sections and deep blue borders, violet shimmer and small silver stars on the cheekbones follow. Metallic headphones and a small lit microphone are the props, with any battery lights fully enclosed and kept away from loose fabric.
15. Dreamix Musa Cosplay

Dreamix covers almost everything, which suits anyone who wants coverage with movement. A red one-sleeve jumpsuit carries glittering blue ribbons across the neck, torso and arm, with dark blue gems and small burgundy teardrops along them. Blue and teal organza strips fall from the waist close to the ankles; I hem each strip with a narrow rolled edge so it doesn't fray into threads that catch on shoes. Crimson platforms or stable ankle boots go with dark hair in a long bun-tail and a jeweled blue clip. Faceted crimson, violet and royal blue wings, pink shadow, dark liner and glossy lips finish it. Reinforce the organza at the waist so one stray step can't tear it off.
16. Onyrix Musa Cosplay

Onyrix is the trouser transformation, and those trousers are the build. Start with a sparkling red bodysuit and add flowing red pants with high side openings over opaque matching leggings, so the slits show red rather than skin. A wide blue sash at the waist carries fabric flowers in pink, lilac, gold and red. Glittering blue cuffs and red platform boots show beneath the hems. Then a sleek ponytail or sculpted bun with floral clips, translucent red, purple and blue wings with softly pointed edges, burgundy shadow, blue liner and gold cheek gems. A floral headset microphone makes it look stage-ready. Fabric flowers crush under a sash, so I stitch them on after the sash is tied in place.
17. Season 1 Casual Musa Cosplay

Her first casual outfit is the easiest Musa to build from everyday clothes. A fitted red one-shoulder crop top with a thin purple band at the upper arm goes with loose blue cargo jeans, big pockets and a relaxed low rise. A pink waistband under the jeans echoes the original color blocking and keeps the coverage comfortable. Red, blue or white sneakers will get you through a full day of walking. Wear a short blue-black wig in two high pigtails with straight bangs, plus black liner, rosy gloss and a touch of shimmer. Yellow or red headphones and a small music player are what turn plain clothes into Musa, so don't skip them.
18. Red Cargo Pants Musa Cosplay

This is a fan-made take on her tomboy early style, updated as streetwear. A fitted purple baby tee goes under a cropped red vest, with relaxed dark blue cargo pants, silver chains, big pockets and chunky red sneakers or platform boots for a long day on your feet. A short blue-black wig in uneven pigtails with straight bangs, a thin black wing, berry gloss and subtle silver shimmer keep the face simple. Oversized headphones are the key piece, and a crossbody bag with music notes holds your things. Chains snag on everything, so I clip them on with lobster clasps rather than looping them through belt loops, and they come off for sitting. No wings needed.
19. Pink Plaid Musa Cosplay

Her later casual wardrobe mixes pink prints with edgier pieces. Wear a hot pink top with small white dots and short ruffled sleeves, a pink-and-black plaid skirt over opaque black shorts or tights, and a wide black belt. Red striped socks and sturdy low-heeled red ankle boots go underneath. A long blue-black wig worn down with side-swept bangs and a thin braid pairs with pink shadow, neat liner and berry gloss. Red headphones, silver hoops and a small black shoulder bag with a treble-clef charm finish it. It's colorful enough to count as cosplay and comfortable enough for a casual fan meetup, and the plaid skirt slips back into a normal wardrobe afterward.
20. Concert Singer Musa Cosplay

Here Musa is the performer, in red and black. A fitted red crop jacket goes over a glittering black tank, then red flared pants or a pleated skirt over opaque tights. Silver piping, sequins and music-note appliqués catch light without taking over. Sequins on a sleeve scratch the inner arm, so I keep them to the outer side only. Black platform boots with cushioned insoles give a strong stage outline. A high ponytail with red streaks and side bangs, smoky plum shadow, silver liner and glossy berry lips suit the stage. A headset mic, metallic headphones and stacked silver bracelets round it out, and it holds up for dance videos or a group styled as a magical pop band.
21. Glam Rock Musa Cosplay

Glam rock suits Musa's confidence. A cropped magenta moto jacket goes over a fitted purple top, with black faux-leather pants or a pleated mini over leggings, then tall red platform boots with silver buckles, chains and star charms. Faux-leather pants run hot indoors, so I'd pick the skirt for a long day inside. A high ponytail with purple clip-in streaks and textured bangs, bold winged liner, pink shimmer lids and a deep rose lip set the attitude. A light toy guitar painted red and purple is a strong photo prop, and over-ear headphones keep the character clear. Compact translucent wings make it magical; leave them off for a plain concert look.
22. Alfea Student Musa Cosplay

This is an invented one: Musa at fairy school, in red, blue and purple. A fitted white blouse goes under a cropped navy vest, with a pleated red skirt or tailored navy trousers and a purple tie carrying a tiny music note. Knee-high socks and red loafers or ankle boots go underneath. Short pigtails with straight bangs, pink blush, light liner and clear gloss keep it fresh. A blue satchel with sheet-music patches, headphones and a small fairy emblem tells the story. Compact wings can clip to the vest for photos and come off afterward. It's modest and comfortable, and it gets past school dress codes that rule out the transformation outfits.
23. Princess Of Melody Musa Cosplay

This royal take puts Musa in a gown. Choose a floor-length burgundy dress with a fitted purple bodice, off-the-shoulder sleeves and layers of translucent pink fabric, then add gold piping shaped like sound waves at the waist and neckline. Off-the-shoulder sleeves ride up when you raise your arms, so I sew a clear elastic strap between them across the back. Gold flats or low block heels sit under the skirt. A braided half-up wig with a red-and-gold tiara, plum shadow, highlighter and a soft berry lip do the face. A treble-clef pendant, delicate purple wings and a small jeweled microphone finish it, and a removable skirt layer or shortened train makes moving through a crowded hall much easier.
24. Cowgirl Musa Cosplay

A Western twist plays up her playful side. A light pink fringed crop top or fitted shirt, a red vest and high-waisted blue jeans form the outfit, plus a blue bandanna, pink arm cuffs and a red belt with silver music notes. Brown or red low-heeled Western ankle boots go underneath. The pigtails are high with pink ties, under a red cowboy hat dressed with rhinestones and a small treble-clef emblem; set the pigtails slightly lower than usual or the hat won't sit. Rosy cheeks, winged liner and pink gloss keep it bright. Carry a toy microphone rather than a Western prop, and add small pink-and-blue wings to make her a fairy cowgirl.
25. Disco Musa Cosplay

A disco Musa is made for dancing. Wear a sparkling magenta halter jumpsuit with wide legs and a metallic blue belt, silver platforms with stable soles and purple wrist cuffs that move freely. A high curled ponytail with reflective star clips, violet, pink and silver shadow blended into a graphic wing, and glossy berry lipstick suit the era. Round blue-tinted glasses and chrome headphones bring in the retro feel, and compact holographic wings with music-note patterns add the magic. Halter necks pull on the back of the neck over a long night, so I add a hidden hook at the back of the bodice to share the load. The jumpsuit covers more than most transformations while keeping all her colors.
26. Fairy Ball Musa Cosplay

For a formal event, put her in a red and violet ball gown. A fitted burgundy bodice with asymmetric straps sits over a layered purple skirt to the ankle, with pink organza panels, silver embroidery and small crystal music notes at the waist. Red ballet flats or short block heels go underneath; nobody sees your shoes under that skirt. A braided updo with face-framing strands, a crystal tiara, drop earrings and translucent violet wings set the fairy outline. Rosy shimmer and a polished berry lip go with a small clutch shaped like a music box. Detachable skirt layers let you shorten it for walking, dancing or sitting through dinner.
27. Winter Streetwear Musa Cosplay

This fan-made winter version is about staying warm in her colors. A fitted magenta turtleneck and dark purple cargo pants go under a cropped red puffer trimmed in pale pink faux fur, with blue fingerless gloves and a purple scarf. Red snow boots or platform combat boots with textured soles handle slippery ground. Two low ponytails sit comfortably under pink earmuffs, which become headphones once you add metallic music-note decorations. Soft silver shadow, berry blush and tinted lip balm hold up in cold air. A small iridescent backpack and removable icy blue wings finish it. I attach the wings to the backpack straps rather than the puffer, because the padding squashes any harness flat.
28. Modern Y2K Musa Cosplay

This translates her early-2000s wardrobe into something wearable now. An asymmetric red mesh top goes over a fitted purple camisole, with baggy blue cargo jeans and a pink belt, and red platform sneakers give fairy-boot height you can actually walk in. Short high pigtails with thin face-framing pieces and straight bangs, sharp black liner, lilac shimmer and glossy pink lips set the Y2K face. Silver hoops, stacked arm cuffs, a tiny shoulder bag and oversized red headphones carry the era. Optional wings can be outlined with chrome tape. Almost everything here gets worn again afterward, which is my favorite argument for it.
29. Easy Closet Musa Cosplay

Need it tonight from what's already in the wardrobe? A red fitted top, relaxed blue jeans, purple sneakers and a pink belt will do, plus a cropped black jacket if it's cool. Natural dark hair in two high pigtails works, or a short blue-black wig with straight bangs. Draw a clean black wing, add pink shadow and finish with clear gloss. Big headphones are the most important detail, with a printed treble-clef patch pinned to the shirt or jacket. Wings come from iridescent gift wrap stretched over cardboard frames; score the cardboard lightly along the center so the wings bend instead of creasing. No specialty sewing or expensive pieces needed.
30. Full Coverage Musa Cosplay

Full coverage can keep every bit of her fairy color. A long-sleeve magenta jumpsuit with purple side panels and a blue glitter belt goes with a short red overskirt, pink fingerless gloves and knee-high purple boots with flat or low heels. Rhinestone sound waves and light music-note appliqués decorate the jumpsuit; I'd heat-set or sew the stones, since glued ones pop off stretch fabric as it moves. A high ponytail with a side braid and red hairband, pink and violet eye makeup, subtle gems and berry lips handle the face. Large translucent wings in blue, magenta and purple, red headphones and a jeweled microphone make it read as Musa at any size, mobility need or comfort preference.
Getting the Dark Blue-Black Wig Right
Musa's hair is the second thing people read after the headphones, and the color is easy to get wrong. Plain black looks flat beside her outfits; a blue-black wig, or a black one that shows navy in the light, gets much closer. Check the color in daylight before you commit, since plenty of wigs look black indoors and blue only outside.
Short pigtails versus the long transformation styles
The short pigtail versions are the easy ones. Buy a short wig with bangs and add two clip-on ponytails rather than trying to cut pigtails out of a long wig. The long transformation wigs are where tangling starts, because synthetic fiber rubs against wing straps and collars and knots at the nape. I braid or twist the underlayer before the day and keep a wide-tooth comb in my bag. A light mist of wig detangler, or a little fabric softener diluted in water, lets you comb it out from the ends up.
Keep curling irons and hot dryers away from a basic synthetic wig; it frizzes or melts. Heat-resistant fiber can take low heat, but test a hidden strand at the back first.
Headphones First, Then Everything Else
Musa adapts to nearly any budget, skill level or comfort need because her identity sits in a few details. Build a full transformation like Enchantix, Sirenix or Tynix if you enjoy the craft, or go casual with cargo pants and headphones. Get the palette right first: red, magenta, purple and blue. Then add the dark blue-black hair, the music accessories, matching shoes and light wings. Comfortable base garments and detachable decorations make even the elaborate forms wearable, so for Halloween, a performance or a group costume, pick the version you can move in and enjoy.
