A cosplay reads as a character when every piece agrees with the others. The clothes give you the outline, but people actually recognise the wig, the colours, the shoes and the way you stand. I've grouped forty characters here from anime, games, comics, fantasy and television, and most of them can be built from a wardrobe, a thrift rail and one good wig. For a first convention I'd always put comfort ahead of accuracy, and every idea below leaves out bulky armour and anything that looks like a weapon, because those are the pieces that make a long day miserable and get stopped at the door.

A First Cosplay Built From Thrift Racks and One Wig
When someone asks me where to start, I tell them to choose a character whose clothes already exist in ordinary shops. Wednesday, Makima, Eleven, Coraline and Lara Croft are all built mostly from normal garments, which means you can try things on, return what doesn't fit, and wear the pieces again afterwards.
- Collect three or four reference pictures from the same version of the character, front and back. Mixing seasons or movies is how a costume ends up looking slightly off.
- List the colours first, then the garments. Matching the right shade of green or orange matters more than matching a seam line.
- Shop your own wardrobe, then thrift. Charity shops are full of plain blazers, pleated skirts, white shirts and boots, and a quick dye bath fixes a near-miss colour on cotton.
- Spend the biggest part of your budget on the wig. A good wig makes average clothes look like a costume, while a cheap shiny one makes even perfect clothes look like a party pack.
- Do a full dress rehearsal at home for at least an hour, including sitting, climbing stairs and going to the toilet. Anything that pinches at home will hurt by mid-afternoon.
Before you buy anything, check the event's prop and costume rules. Most conventions publish them, and they usually cover realistic weapons, prop size and what is allowed through the door. Every look below can be worn without a prop at all.
1. Wednesday Addams Cosplay Outfit

Wednesday is the build I suggest most to people who've never cosplayed, because the whole thing lives in a black dress with a white collar and cuffs. Look for a fitted bodice and a gently flared skirt, then add black tights and chunky loafers you can walk in all day. The two braids matter more than the dress: a centre-parted black wig works, or your own hair if it's long and dark enough. I keep the makeup to pale foundation, softly shaded eyes and a muted berry lip, since heavy white face paint ages the look. Carry a small black book or satchel and practise the blank stare.
2. Gojo Satoru Cosplay Outfit

Gojo is a quiet costume that lives or dies on the hair. The base is just a high-collar black jacket and slim black trousers, and I'd buy them in a stretch fabric because stiff uniform polyester gets hot and pulls at the shoulders after a few hours. Black lace-up boots or plain dark sneakers finish it. The short spiky white wig needs shaping before the day: a little lightweight paste, worked upward in small sections, holds better than hairspray. Choose the soft blindfold or narrow dark glasses depending on which version you like, and remember a blindfold cuts your vision far more than you expect. Blue contacts are optional and only worth it if they've been properly fitted.
3. Makima Cosplay Outfit

Makima is mostly office wear, which is why I point beginners toward her. A crisp white shirt, a narrow black tie, tailored black trousers and a fitted blazer you can take off when the hall warms up, with plain black shoes or low ankle boots. The copper-red wig carries the character: straight, with blunt bangs and a loose braid down the back. Cheap braided wigs often show the weft at the nape, so I braid it a little lower than the reference to hide that. Keep the makeup natural, skip contacts if you like, and hold a slim document folder or a coffee cup.
4. Power Cosplay Outfit

Power uses almost the same shirt, tie and black trousers as Makima, which makes the pair an easy duo for two friends. The difference is attitude in the styling: sleeves rolled unevenly, the shirt half untucked, and red-and-white sneakers or sturdy black boots. Her long strawberry-blonde wig with choppy bangs takes a pair of red horns near the crown, and I sew or pin the horn bases through the wig cap rather than gluing them to the fibre, which lets go by lunchtime. Sharp liner, warm red shadow and slightly pointed brows do the face. A stuffed cat or a cat tote beats any prop. Pick fabrics that don't crease badly, since you want messy on purpose, not crumpled.
5. Tanjiro Kamado Cosplay Outfit

The black-and-green checked haori is what people spot from across a hall, so if your budget only stretches to one good piece, make it that. It goes over a dark buttoned uniform with loose trousers, white leg wraps and soft brown boots or supportive lace-ups. A short tousled burgundy wig gives the hair, or a wash-out burgundy colour for a one-day version. I make the rectangular earrings from lightweight card or foam on clip-ons so nothing drags on the lobes. Draw the forehead mark softly in warm red makeup, and turn a wooden-box backpack into your bag for the day. Leave the sword at home; the pattern does the work.
6. Nezuko Kamado Cosplay Outfit

Nezuko has more layers than she looks: a pink patterned robe, a dark brown outer layer, a wide sash and a red-and-white belt, plus leg wraps and flat pink sandals over socks. That stack gets hot, so I choose the lightest cotton I can find for each layer. Her long black hair fades to orange at the ends, which is easiest as a full gradient wig, though clip-in extensions work on dark hair. Pink eye makeup and defined lashes give the soft animated face. For the bamboo mouthpiece, use a light tube tied loosely on a ribbon so it never sits tight against your mouth, and slip it off whenever you want to talk or drink.
7. Yor Forger Cosplay Outfit

Yor's black evening dress is one of the more grown-up builds on this list and it needs no structure at all. Look for a sleeveless fitted bodice, a high neckline and an asymmetric or petal-shaped skirt, then add thigh-high socks or opaque tights and low ankle boots. The braided headband is the detail people check, so I make it from a separate braid of wig fibre pinned over the crown rather than trying to braid the wig itself. A gold rose headpiece and drop earrings sit on top. Red lips, flushed cheeks, crisp liner, fingerless black gloves and a small gold clutch keep it in that black-and-gold palette.
8. Anya Forger Cosplay Outfit

Anya suits children, families and adults who want something light-hearted. The base is a simple black A-line dress with gold trim at the collar, cuffs and hem, white tights and black Mary Janes. A short pink bob with straight bangs carries most of the likeness, and the two black-and-gold cones are the bit kids love. I make those from felt over a craft-foam cone and attach them to clips, because a headband version slides off a small head within the hour. Adults can add a little blush; children need no makeup. If you're dressing a child, check they can manage the toilet without help before you leave home.
9. Monkey D. Luffy Cosplay Outfit

Luffy is my pick for a hot convention day, because there's barely anything to overheat in. An open red vest goes over a skin-tone undershirt if you want more coverage, with knee-length blue shorts finished in rolled cuffs or pale trim, a yellow sash and cushioned brown sandals. The straw hat with the red band does most of the work. I thread a soft cord through it so it can hang down your back while you eat or queue. Messy short black hair or a scruffy wig, a small brown makeup mark under one eye, and a food-themed bag finish it.
10. Roronoa Zoro Cosplay Outfit

Zoro's colours are simple: a white short-sleeve shirt, a dark green waist wrap, black trousers and sturdy black boots. The green bandanna can sit on his upper arm for walking around and go on the head for photos. Short moss-green wigs usually arrive too long and too flat, so expect to trim them and spike the top upward. Clip-on gold hoops on one ear, light contour and a single neat line over one closed eye if you're doing his later look. I'd carry a green gym bag rather than any sword stand-in; a squared stance and a serious face sell him.
11. Naruto Uzumaki Cosplay Outfit

Orange is the easiest colour to find in a crowd, which makes Naruto handy if you're meeting friends. A zip-front orange jacket with black shoulder panels, matching relaxed trousers and blue open-toe shoe covers over real sneakers form the base. The headband with its metal-look plate is the identifier; the spiky blonde wig is the backdrop. I draw the whisker marks with a skin-safe brown liner and set them with powder so they don't smudge onto the jacket collar. Check the trouser length while wearing the shoe covers, because wide hems catch on escalator steps. A frog coin purse is a nice small accessory.
12. Hinata Hyuga Cosplay Outfit

Hinata is soft where many anime builds are stiff. A pale lavender hooded jacket with cream panels, navy cropped trousers and dark blue shoe covers over walking shoes is all the clothing she needs. Her straight blue-black wig with blunt bangs and face-framing pieces reads even without the pale lavender contacts, which I'd only wear if they've been fitted for you. Keep the makeup cool and quiet: taupe shadow, fine liner, natural pink lips. The jacket should be loose enough to move in but not so big it swamps you, and a navy belt pouch takes a phone and cash.
13. Sailor Moon Cosplay Outfit

Sailor Moon depends on proportion more than anything. The bodice should be fitted, the blue collar crisp and the red bow full, with a short pleated skirt that's still a sensible length for public halls. Add elbow-length gloves with red cuffs, the waist bow and red knee-high boots with proper insoles. The buns and long pigtails are heavy on a single wig, so I attach the tails as separate clip-on pieces to take the pull off the cap. A gold tiara, red hair ornaments and small moon earrings, then bright lashes and a rosy lip. Stitch the bows on rather than gluing them; glued bows droop by afternoon.
14. Hatsune Miku Cosplay Outfit

Miku is a grey sleeveless top, a black pleated skirt and lots of teal: detached black arm sleeves, over-the-knee socks and ankle boots edged with teal tape or fabric. The long turquoise twin tails are the dramatic part, and I'd pay for a lighter wig here because cheap long fibre is heavy and tangles badly. A firm wig cap and pink clips at the base of each tail. Teal liner, cool blush and gloss for the face, a leek plush for fun. Carry a wide-tooth comb and keep the tails behind your shoulders, or they'll knot against the straps of your bag.
15. Mikasa Ackerman Cosplay Outfit

Mikasa is a run of neutral layers held together by one red scarf. A cropped brown jacket over a cream shirt and white fitted trousers, a tan waist wrap, brown harness-style straps and knee-high brown boots with a flat or low heel. The straps are where her outfits usually go wrong: if they're too tight across the thighs you can't sit, so I use elastic sections at the back where nobody sees them. A short black bob with long side bangs, a soft red scarf wrapped loosely, natural makeup and a canvas map pouch instead of any equipment.
16. Frieren Cosplay Outfit

Frieren has a calm, storybook palette of white and gold. A long white tunic dress with gold edging, a short capelet, black tights and brown lace-up ankle boots make up the clothing. White fabric is often see-through under hall lights, so I wear a slip underneath, which also makes it more comfortable. Her long silver-white wig goes into two low pigtails, and the pointed ear tips need matching to your skin tone or they look stuck on. Red teardrop earrings are her one hit of colour. Soft peach blush and fine brown liner keep the face gentle, and a small antique-style case replaces the staff.
17. Fern Cosplay Outfit

Fern is a good pick for anyone who wants full coverage. She wears a long black button-front dress with a high white collar and cuffs, a loose dark cloak, black tights and flat ankle boots. Her waist-length purple wig should stay straight and neat with soft bangs, so don't tease it for volume. Lavender shadow, natural brows and a muted rose lip suit the cool colours, and a purple ribbon or a small vintage bag adds a character note. I cut the cloak shorter than it looks in the art, because a cloak that reaches your heels gets trodden on during stairs. She's warm enough for a cold-weather event.
18. Maomao Cosplay Outfit

Maomao's clothes are loose and comfortable, which is unusual for a detailed character. A pale green wrap-front top with wide sleeves, a darker green ankle-length skirt and a burgundy sash, with white socks and flat black cloth shoes or supportive Mary Janes. The dark green wig goes into two compact side buns tied with red ribbons. I build each bun around a small sock bun or foam ring so it holds its shape. Freckles with a fine brown pencil, natural blush and a stained lip. Her basket of fabric herbs and paper packets is the fun part; skip real plants, since dried herbs shed and some people react to them.
19. Momo Ayase Cosplay Outfit

Momo is a school uniform with personality, and most of it can come off a thrift rail: a white shirt and red ribbon tie, a cropped navy cardigan or fitted jacket, a green pleated skirt, navy knee socks and brown loafers with cushioned inserts. The warm brown high ponytail with curved bangs needs a ponytail-style wig or a clip-on tail, since pulling a standard wig up exposes the cap. Peach blush, defined lashes and a glossy pink lip, then bright earrings and a school bag full of removable charms. This one is carried by attitude, so practise a few confident poses.
20. Furina Cosplay Outfit

Furina is the most ornate build on this page, and I'd only sew her from scratch if you have tailoring experience; otherwise start with a bought base and improve it. She needs a fitted navy jacket with white lapels, ruffled cuffs and gold trim, tailored shorts, white tights and navy boots with a stable block heel. The short pale-blue wig has curled ends and one longer side section, topped with a small blue hat, white feathers and a jewel. I attach the hat with a comb sewn underneath plus two pins, because feathers catch every air draught. Cool blue shadow, rosy blush, white gloves and a water-drop bag. Check every chain and trim is stitched, not just glued.
21. Princess Zelda Cosplay Outfit

Zelda's gown is graceful, but floor-length white is impractical at a busy event. The dress has a fitted purple bodice panel, gold edging and a blue front apron, with a gold belt, pointed ear tips and flat white or gold shoes under the skirt. Braid the sides of a long golden-blonde wig and leave the back loose, then add a light gold tiara and small clips. Luminous skin, peach lips and a touch of gold shadow. My rule is to hem it at least an inch off the floor while wearing the actual shoes. It keeps the white clean and stops you tripping on stairs and outdoor paths.
22. Link Cosplay Outfit

Link has been cosplayed for decades because the pieces are so forgiving. A forest-green tunic over a cream long-sleeve shirt, fitted tan trousers, a brown belt and knee-high brown boots. The long green cap and short sandy-blonde wig give the shape, and pointed ear tips plus foam or fabric bracers finish him. I'd make the tunic in cotton twill rather than upholstery fabric, which looks rich in photos but is heavy and hot. A brown satchel with a small blue emblem stands in for the shield. He's easy to sit, walk and pose in all day.
23. Princess Peach Cosplay Outfit

Peach is all about the skirt, and that's where people overdo it. The bright pink dress has puffed sleeves, a fitted bodice and a full skirt with a darker pink overskirt. A hoop gives the most volume, but I'd use a soft tulle petticoat instead for a crowded hall, because a hoop swings into people and won't fit a toilet stall. Low-heeled pink or gold pumps, white elbow gloves and a long golden-blonde wig with curled ends. Add a light gold crown with faux gems, blue earrings and the brooch, then rosy blush and pink lips. Clip the crown securely and keep the hem off the floor.
24. Mario Cosplay Outfit

Mario is about the easiest character to recognise and to make. Blue overalls over a long-sleeve red shirt, white gloves and supportive brown work boots. The big yellow buttons can go on with fabric glue, though I prefer sewing them or using removable fasteners so the overalls stay wearable afterwards. A red cap with a white circle and the red initial sits over a short dark brown wig or your own hair. Stick the mustache on with a skin-safe adhesive and test it on your arm the night before. Roll or hem the overall legs so they don't bunch on your boots.
25. Lara Croft Cosplay Outfit

Lara Croft is practical clothing first. A fitted teal tank top, brown utility shorts or full cargo trousers, a dark brown belt, fingerless gloves and sturdy lace-up hiking boots. Her long brown hair goes into a low braid or ponytail with a few loose strands at the face, and your own hair works if it's long. Keep the makeup outdoorsy: matte base, warm contour, slightly smudged brown liner. A canvas backpack, a rolled map and a foam compass replace any weapons. I look for shorts with real pockets and some stretch. She's a good warm-venue choice because there are so few layers.
26. Ada Wong Cosplay Outfit

Ada's red dress is sleek and very simple to style. A fitted red midi with a high neck and a side slit that lets you walk without showing more than you want, sheer black tights and low ankle boots or block-heel pumps. The short black bob with side-swept bangs is a common wig, so it's easy to source. Precise winged liner, soft contour and classic red lipstick, plus black gloves and a small envelope bag. If satin feels too formal or slippery for a long day, I'd choose stretch crepe or ponte, which holds the shape and doesn't show sweat. Calm posture does the rest.
27. Jinx Cosplay Outfit

Jinx can be built safely around clothes and hair. A cropped black top over a mesh undershirt, striped purple trousers, layered black belts with small pouches, fingerless gloves and black lace-up boots. Her braids are extremely long, and full-length wig braids weigh a lot and snag on everything, so I make detachable braid extensions you can unclip in a busy hall. Pink eyeshadow, sharp liner, purple lips and blue body makeup accents if you like. A monkey backpack is her signature accessory. Tape or tuck every loose strap end so it can't hook a door handle or someone else's costume.
28. Vi Cosplay Outfit

Vi gets her presence from the red hair and the layered work-wear. A cropped red jacket over a dark grey tank, fitted black trousers with burgundy panels and a wide utility belt. For the heavy boots, I'd make lightweight foam covers over comfortable black shoes; real heavy boots wear you out by afternoon. The short magenta-red wig needs shaved-looking sides and longer textured hair across the top, which usually means trimming and styling. Smoky mauve eyes, defined brows and temporary graphic markings, plus fingerless gloves and wrapped fabric forearm cuffs. Keep every foam piece light, as this one already has several layers.
29. Shadowheart Cosplay Outfit

Shadowheart is black and purple with silver details. A fitted black tunic over charcoal leggings, a sleeveless purple surcoat, light silver foam shoulder pieces, a wide belt, dark gloves and knee-high black boots. Her long black wig goes into a high segmented ponytail with straight bangs and small silver ornaments; I tie off each segment with clear elastic, then wrap a strand of fibre over it to hide it. Cool grey shadow, sharp liner and a plum lip, plus pointed ear tips. Foam armour needs sealing before the metallic paint, or the paint cracks when the foam flexes. Mix matte fabrics with metallic trim so the dark palette still has contrast in photos.
30. Astarion Cosplay Outfit

Astarion suits people who enjoy tailoring and are happy to spend time on makeup. A white ruffled shirt under a burgundy embroidered vest, fitted black trousers, a long dark coat, leather-look gloves and polished knee-high boots. The short silver-white wig is curled away from the face with volume at the crown and sides, which takes heat styling, so buy a heat-resistant fibre. Pale foundation, cool contour, defined brows and a wine lip applied lightly, with pointed ear tips and a ruby brooch. A velvet coin pouch or an old-looking book makes a good accessory. A long coat and vest get hot, so line them with something breathable.
31. Spider-Gwen Cosplay Outfit

Spider-Gwen is a stretch bodysuit with a white hood, black torso panels, pink web-patterned lining and turquoise shoe accents. If the suit has built-in feet, wear supportive dance sneakers inside them rather than walking on the thin costume sole all day. A short blonde wig with an undercut look shows when the hood is down. Keep the makeup fresh: waterproof mascara, pink blush, soft brows. I prefer a removable white eye mask to a full face mask, because you can take it off to talk and eat. Test the mask for visibility and airflow at home, and check you can lift your arms and crouch in the suit.
32. Scarlet Witch Cosplay Outfit

Scarlet Witch works as a layered look rather than a bodysuit. A dark red fitted top with a corset-style waist panel, flexible black leggings and a long burgundy coat that moves well but stops short of the floor. Knee-high black boots with a low heel and fingerless gloves. A long auburn wig in loose waves with a centre part, and the red crown made from light foam held with discreet elastic or hairpins. Foam crowns tip backward on a slippery wig, so I add a small comb underneath. Berry shadow and deep rose lips, then translucent red ribbons at the wrists for movement in photos.
33. Wonder Woman Cosplay Outfit

Wonder Woman can look heroic and still give full coverage. Start with a red fitted top with a gold eagle panel, a blue pleated skirt or tailored shorts over opaque tights, and red-and-gold knee-high boot covers over supportive shoes. A long dark brown wig in full waves. Gold foam tiara, metallic wrist cuffs and a gold belt. I cut the cuffs with a little room and line them in soft fabric, because rigid foam rubs the wrist bone raw over a day. Strong brows, warm bronzer and red lipstick. A small star-print cape or blue bag can replace the lasso.
34. Harley Quinn Cosplay Outfit

Harley Quinn is built on red and blue harlequin details. A cropped satin bomber over a red-and-white graphic top, red and blue sequin shorts over opaque tights, and red-and-blue lace-up ankle boots. A blonde wig in high pigtails with the ends coloured pink and blue. Sequins scratch the inside of your arms, and I always line or edge sequin pieces where skin rubs them. One pink eye, one blue eye, black liner and berry lips, plus a small heart on the cheek in skin-safe pencil. A playing-card mini backpack carries your things. Check the stitching on every sequin before you dance in it.
35. Barbie Cowgirl Cosplay Outfit

Barbie cowgirl is bright western fashion with doll polish. A hot pink sleeveless vest and matching flared trousers trimmed with silver stars or white piping, a white fitted top underneath, a pink cowboy hat, a bandanna and white ankle boots with a manageable heel. A long platinum-blonde wig in smooth waves, or your own hair with a side part. Glossy makeup: pink blush, defined lashes, bubblegum lips. I choose a stretch fabric for the flares and hem them in the boots, since pink flares show every scuff from the floor. A star-shaped handbag finishes it.
36. The Doctor Cosplay Outfit

The Doctor has so many versions that you can pick the one closest to clothes you own. A colourful modern take uses a bright patterned shirt, a fitted vest, high-waisted trousers and a long brown or navy coat, with striped socks and lace-up boots or brogues. Your own hair usually works, or a wig matching your version. Natural makeup and expressive brows suit the energy. A patterned scarf, round glasses and a small silver torch-style prop give the sci-fi read. The coat is the heavy piece, so I'd look for a lightweight one or take the lining out. A worn leather satchel holds everything else.
37. Eleven Cosplay Outfit

Eleven's pink dress outfit is one of the easiest thrift builds here. A pale pink knee-length dress with a white Peter Pan collar and a gathered skirt goes under a navy zip-up jacket, with striped athletic socks and white sneakers. A short brown softly waved wig or your own cropped hair. Matte base, natural brows and a little pink blush, nothing graphic. A small yellow waffle-shaped purse adds a joke people catch. I like her for chilly days because the jacket is part of the character. Tube socks from a sports shop are closer to the look than costume versions.
38. Beetlejuice Cosplay Outfit

Beetlejuice is about the striped suit, and it needs to look slept in. A black-and-white vertical stripe blazer and trousers, a rumpled white shirt, a narrow black tie and worn black shoes with cushioned insoles. The messy white-blonde wig should stand out from the head, so I backcomb it and use firm spray rather than smoothing it. Pale foundation, grey-green shadow and dark cheek contour, stylised rather than gory, with a bit of green coloured spray on a few sections of hair. Coloured hair spray transfers onto the collar, so spray before you put the blazer on. A striped case or notebook makes a good accessory.
39. Coraline Cosplay Outfit

Coraline suits adults, teens and children alike. A bright yellow hooded raincoat over a red striped top and straight blue jeans, with yellow rain boots or waterproof ankle boots and warm socks. The short blue bob with a deep side part is the main identifier, though blue wash-out spray works on short hair. Natural base, drawn freckles, rosy cheeks and soft pink lips. A blue crossbody bag or a plush black cat makes a safe accessory, and the oversized black buttons look great sewn onto the bag. Never put them over your eyes. I wear the hood down in a crowd so I can see.
40. Maleficent Cosplay Outfit

Maleficent is regal and fully covered. A long black gown with structured shoulders, wide sleeves and a high neck, a purple-lined cape and low black boots under the skirt. The horned headpiece is the make-or-break piece: hollow foam or padded fabric, attached to a fitted cap so the weight sits evenly instead of pressing on your temples. Smooth your visible hair beneath it. Pale base, sculpted contour, arched brows, violet shadow and deep red lips. A raven bag or black feathered clutch is a safe accessory. Walk through a doorway at home before the day, since horns add more height and width than you think.
Getting a Bagged Wig Ready to Wear
Almost every wig arrives flat, shiny and slightly wrong. I give each one an evening of work before the event, and it changes the whole costume.
- Brush it out gently on a wig head or a tall bottle, starting at the ends and working up, using a wide-tooth comb so you don't snap the fibres.
- Shake out loose fibres outdoors. New wigs shed for the first few wears, and it is better that happens in the garden than on your collar.
- Take the shine down with a light dusting of dry shampoo or baby powder, then brush it through. Plastic-looking shine is what makes a wig read as cheap in photos.
- Trim bangs a little at a time while the wig is on your head, cutting vertically into the ends so the line looks soft rather than chopped.
- Heat-style only if the label says the fibre is heat resistant, and keep the tool on a low setting. Ordinary fibre melts and frizzes.
On the day, a wig cap that matches your hair colour and four or five hairpins crossed through the cap stop the wig from sliding back when you look up for photos.
A Small Repair Kit for the Convention Floor
Something always comes loose. A bow drops, a strap snaps, a shoe rubs a blister. I pack a small pouch that fits in any of the bags suggested above.
- Safety pins in two sizes and a few bobby pins in your wig colour.
- A needle already threaded with black and white thread, wrapped round a piece of card.
- Double-sided fashion tape for hems and gaping necklines.
- Blister plasters, because new costume shoes are the most common reason people leave early.
- Makeup wipes, a powder compact and the lipstick from your look for touch-ups after eating.
- A small comb for long wigs, plus a hair tie to hold the tails out of the way while you sit down.
Hot glue is worth leaving at home. It sets brittle and lets go in cold air, while a needle and thread fixes nearly everything that can break on these outfits.
Wear the One You Can Stand In All Day
A strong cosplay doesn't need the biggest budget, the most armour or a perfect physical match. People recognise a clear outline, the right colours, well-styled hair and one memorable accessory long before they notice seams. Adjust every outfit here to your size, comfort, climate and the event's own rules, and favour light materials, secure accessories and a bag that carries water and snacks. If I had to give one piece of advice for a first convention, it would be to choose a character you genuinely like. You'll stand straighter in it, and that shows in every photo.
