A couples costume for two women should be fun to plan, not a squeeze into someone else's idea of who wears the dress. The pairs below mix well-known sapphic characters, fantasy duos, puns, classic Halloween matches and a few that are mostly a closet raid. When I style a couple, I start by asking each partner what she'd actually be happy wearing for five hours, then I hand out characters from there. Every idea can swap skirts for trousers, lose the theatrical makeup, or shift to suit femme, masc, butch, androgynous, plus-size or mixed-style couples. Some need a weekend of crafting; plenty can come together from a thrift run.

Splitting a Couples Costume So Both Halves Read
The most common problem I see with couples costumes is that one partner is obviously the character and the other is a vague supporting outfit. The fix is to give each person at least one detail that only her character has, and one detail you share.
- Write down the three things that make each character recognizable: usually a hair color, one garment and one accessory. If you can't name three, pick a different pair.
- Decide which details you each want to wear and which you'd rather drop. A wig, heels or face paint should be a choice, not an obligation.
- Pick one shared link: the same lipstick, the same metal for jewelry, matching pins or one color repeated in both outfits.
- Stand side by side in a mirror, or take a photo from across the room. If either half needs explaining, add one more signature detail to that side.
Coverage and comfort can change without losing the character. Shorts become trousers, a mini becomes a midi, a bodysuit becomes a fitted tee. I keep the colors and the signature pieces exactly right and let the cut flex, because people recognize color long before they notice a hemline.
1. Harley Quinn And Poison Ivy Costume

Clashing colors and villain energy make Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy a loud, fun pair. Harley gets a red-and-black bomber with matching shorts or fitted trousers, patterned tights and chunky boots, plus blonde pigtails with temporary red and blue tips, graphic liner and a little heart on the cheek. Ivy can go green jumpsuit, velvet dress or a leafy corset over leggings, with red waves, green eye makeup, vine accessories and ankle boots. Temporary hair color sprays rub off onto collars and pillowcases, so I'd spray the tips only and set them with a little hairspray. Swap any toy weapon for a vine-wrapped bag or a big flower. Matching red lipstick ties two very different outfits together.
2. Velma And Daphne Costume

Velma and Daphne are the pair I'd steer a couple toward if they want to shop secondhand, because every piece is an ordinary garment in a loud color. Velma is an orange turtleneck, red pleated skirt, knee socks, loafers and square glasses, with a short brown bob or your own hair smoothed into a rounded shape. Daphne wears a purple dress with pink tights, a green neck scarf, purple shoes and a matching headband. Lavender shadow for Daphne and a few soft freckles for Velma are enough. The color matching is the hard part: hold the orange and red up together in daylight, because store lighting makes them clash. A magnifying glass, notebook or flashlight and a pair of matching pins finish it.
3. Marceline And Princess Bubblegum Costume

Marceline and Princess Bubblegum set an edgy rocker against a bright royal. Marceline wears a gray tank, distressed black jeans, red boots and long black hair or a straight wig, with cool-toned makeup, a berry lip, small costume fangs and a light cardboard axe-guitar. Bubblegum needs a pink dress or top-and-skirt set, purple flats and a long pink wig, plus a simple gold crown, rosy makeup and a tiny science notebook or candy purse. Long pink wigs tangle at the ends within an hour, so I brush them with a wide-tooth comb and a spritz of fabric softener mixed with water before the night. Prefer casual? Colored tees and joggers work too, and the palettes still read across a room.
4. Korra And Asami Costume

Korra and Asami give you two strong, polished silhouettes that look nothing alike. Korra starts with a blue sleeveless tunic, dark trousers, a faux-fur-trimmed waist wrap, wrist cuffs and sturdy brown boots, plus a high ponytail and bronzed, natural makeup. Asami pairs a burgundy fitted jacket with black leggings or riding trousers, knee boots and gloves, side-parted waves and the red lip that defines her. I'd carry a rolled map, goggles or a small mechanical notebook instead of anything combat-related. Both outfits are built from layers and flat boots, which makes them one of the better choices on this list for a long walk outside.
5. Vi And Caitlyn Costume

Vi and Caitlyn are all structure and contrast. Vi wears a cropped red jacket over a black tank, charcoal cargo trousers, fingerless gloves and heavy lace-up boots, with short pink hair from a temporary spray, a smoky eye and small drawn-on marks by the brows. Caitlyn gets a navy vest or tailored jacket, fitted trousers, a high-neck blouse and polished boots, plus long blue hair, a small matching hat and a precise wing. Leave out weapon props and lean on a badge pin, a notebook or a utility pouch. This one is often picked by femme-and-masc couples, but I've never seen a reason either look can't be shifted to any presentation.
6. She-Ra And Catra Costume

She-Ra and Catra pair heroic fantasy with feline attitude. She-Ra wears a white skater dress or tunic with gold trim, a red cape, a gold belt, cuffs and flat knee boots, plus a long blonde ponytail, a gold headpiece and glowing neutral makeup; carry a gold shield-shaped bag instead of the sword. Catra goes red sleeveless bodysuit over leggings, a short maroon vest, a cat-ear headband and comfy boots, with textured brown hair, burgundy eye makeup and soft whiskers. Gold details link the pair. Capes get trodden on at crowded parties, so I attach them with snaps at the shoulder; when someone steps on the hem, the snaps let go instead of choking the wearer.
7. Glinda And Elphaba Costume

Few pairs contrast as sharply as Glinda's pink sparkle and Elphaba's layered black. Glinda wears a pink tulle dress, glitter flats, a silver tiara and a sheer wrap, with soft blonde curls, rosy makeup and fine cosmetic shimmer, plus a bubble purse or star wand. Elphaba needs a long black dress with textured sleeves, a pointed hat, lace-up boots and a structured cape or coat, with a long braid or low waves. Full green face paint is optional, and honestly I'd skip it for a party with drinks and hugging; green shadow and matching gloves give you the color without green on your partner's pink dress. Friendship bracelets or small heart pins keep the romantic reading clear.
8. Wednesday And Enid Costume

Wednesday and Enid suit couples whose everyday styles sit at opposite ends of the color wheel. Wednesday is a black dress with a crisp white collar, opaque tights and black loafers or platforms, two smooth braids and matte makeup with softly shadowed eyes. Enid wears a striped pastel sweater, a colorful pleated skirt, bright tights and chunky sneakers, plus a blonde wig with pink and blue tips, glossy makeup and rainbow nails. Small matching school bags are all the props you need. The thing I check first is the collar: a limp white collar ruins Wednesday, so starch it or cut one from stiff interfacing. On a cold night, thermals fit under both.
9. Jennifer And Needy Costume

Jennifer and Needy give you a formalwear costume without any horror makeup at all. Recreate the dance with two contrasting party dresses. Jennifer wears a long white gown, white gloves, silver heels and a dark floral corsage, with loose brown waves, polished liner and a deep berry lip. Needy chooses a pink fit-and-flare dress, a cropped cardigan, low heels and a small clutch, with soft curls or a shoulder-length wig and pink gloss. Slightly smudged liner hints at the horror better than fake blood, which stains white fabric for good. I'd put both of you in flats if you plan to dance, since formal heels rarely last a whole Halloween night.
10. Taissa And Van Soccer Costume

Matching soccer kits make Taissa and Van an easy pick for sporty couples. Start with two blue-and-yellow jerseys, athletic shorts, knee socks and turf sneakers, and add each number in felt or iron-on vinyl. I use iron-on vinyl on secondhand polyester jerseys at a low heat with a pressing cloth, because a hot iron leaves a shiny scorch mark on that fabric. Taissa wears a practical dark ponytail; Van gets a short red wig or temporary color. Keep makeup fresh with a little smudge, as if practice just ended. A ball, water bottles or matching duffel bags are the props, and track jackets layer over the top when the night turns cold.
11. Cheryl And Toni Costume

Cheryl and Toni bring dramatic prep-school style in red and black. Cheryl wears a red fitted top, a plaid skirt, knee socks, black heels and a long red coat, plus glossy red waves, a jeweled clip and lipstick matched exactly to the coat. Toni chooses a black leather-look jacket over a patterned crop top, fitted jeans and lace-up boots, with pink-tipped waves, a smoky eye and layered necklaces. Matching serpent pins do more for recognition than any big prop. For a softer shape, I'd swap Cheryl's mini for a burgundy midi and Toni's jeans for wide-leg trousers. Most of these pieces go straight back into your wardrobe afterward.
12. Casey And Izzie School Uniform Costume

Casey and Izzie are a closet costume: two private-school uniforms built from white button-downs, dark sweater vests, plaid skirts or tailored trousers and clean sneakers or loafers. Casey adds a track jacket and a relaxed ponytail; Izzie gets a plaid tie, a polished headband and soft waves. Keep makeup natural, with a few faux freckles or a tinted balm. Backpacks, sports medals or notebooks are light, easy props. I personalize matching uniforms through small things like rolled sleeves, different sock lengths and one piece of jewelry each, so you look like a pair rather than twins. It layers easily and stays comfortable all evening, whatever your styling leans toward.
13. Lily And Ola Costume

Lily and Ola suit couples who enjoy clashing patterns. Lily wears a printed sweater over a collared shirt, a bright skirt, patterned tights and colorful lace-ups, with straight dark bangs and vivid liner or star stickers on the face. Ola goes denim overalls over a striped tee, a rainbow jacket and classic sneakers, with short natural curls or a textured wig and minimal, cheerful makeup. Handmade notebooks covered in space doodles or tiny aliens set the theme. Thrift racks are full of exactly this kind of print, so it's cheap to build. My one rule with print mixing is to pick a single shared color for both outfits; without it, two busy looks just read as noise.
14. Xena And Gabrielle Costume

Xena and Gabrielle give an adventurous couple two strong fantasy looks. Xena wears a brown faux-leather tunic over fitted shorts or leggings, metallic cuffs, a red cape and tall flat boots, with big dark waves and soft bronze makeup. Gabrielle chooses a green crop top or fitted tunic, a brown midi skirt or trousers, tall boots and a textured belt, plus strawberry-blonde hair, natural makeup and a small travel scroll. Skip swords, staffs and the chakram; map pouches or round metallic bags stand in. Thin EVA foam trim, warmed with a hair dryer, curves around a bodice and gives you convincing armor detail without making anything heavy or stiff.
15. Princess Peach And Princess Daisy Costume

Peach and Daisy are the cheerful option when you'd rather skip dark Halloween looks. Peach wears a pink puff-sleeve dress with white gloves, pink flats, a gold crown and blue costume jewelry, plus long blonde curls and rosy makeup. Daisy needs a yellow-and-orange dress, white gloves, matching shoes, a small crown and green flower earrings, with warm brown or auburn waves and peachy makeup. I'd go tea-length over floor-length if you'll walk or dance, because a full-length skirt gets stepped on by everyone near you. Star purses or plush flowers make easy props. Matching gold belts and crowns of a similar size are what make them look like a pair.
16. Raven And Starfire Costume

Raven and Starfire set moody purple against bright space color. Raven wears a black long-sleeve bodysuit or top with purple shorts, opaque tights, ankle boots and a deep violet hooded cape, plus a short purple wig, a cool-toned lip and a red forehead gem stuck on with skin-safe adhesive. Patch-test that adhesive on your inner arm the day before; some people react to it. Starfire chooses a metallic purple dress or crop top and skirt, a silver belt, tall boots and arm cuffs, with long bright-red hair and luminous green eye makeup. I'd skip glowing effects, which flatten the costume details in photos, and use reflective fabric instead. Either costume works as a dress, trousers, shorts or separates.
17. Kim Possible And Shego Costume

Kim Possible and Shego come almost entirely from comfortable everyday clothes. Kim needs an olive crop top or fitted tee, black cargo trousers, a utility belt and sturdy black boots, plus long red hair, natural makeup and a small compact as her communicator. Shego wears a black jumpsuit or leggings with a fitted green-and-black top, gloves and ankle boots, long black layered hair and a sharp green wing. Matching ID cards or neon-green bags beat any combat prop. Swap characters or rework both in skirts if you like. Because the colors do all the talking, this is the pair I'd give a couple with one free evening and no sewing machine.
18. Sailor Uranus And Sailor Neptune Costume

Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune share a uniform and split the accent colors. Both start with white sailor-collar tops, pleated skirts, elbow-length gloves, jeweled tiaras and knee boots. Uranus takes navy and yellow with a short blonde wig; Neptune takes teal with long wavy hair in a sea-green shade. Add luminous makeup, a fine liner and small matching earrings, and carry planet purses or glitter fans instead of weapons. White bodysuits and opaque tights give more coverage under the skirts. Sailor collars are where shop-bought versions fall short; if yours droops, I'd cut a new collar from stiff felt and pin it over the old one. Contrasting hair keeps the two characters distinct in a crowd.
19. Nana And Hachi Costume

Nana and Hachi put punk next to sweet, soft clothes. Nana wears a black faux-leather jacket, a fitted tank, a plaid mini or slim trousers, torn-effect tights and platform boots, plus a short black wig, smoky liner, silver chains and a microphone prop. Hachi chooses a floral dress, a soft cardigan, a fine necklace and Mary Janes, with a shoulder-length brown bob, fresh pink makeup and a small bag. Leave the cigarettes out; a music magazine or vintage compact does the job. Platform boots are heavier than they look, so I'd break them in around the house first. Most of both outfits goes back into everyday rotation afterward.
20. Genderbent Crowley And Aziraphale Costume

A gender-swapped Crowley and Aziraphale works as a feminine or androgynous pair in tailored vintage clothes. Crowley wears an all-black suit, a fitted turtleneck, pointed ankle boots, red hair and round dark glasses, plus a sharp liner and a snake-print scarf. Aziraphale needs a cream blazer, a pale waistcoat, a bow tie, plaid trousers or a midi skirt and polished loafers, with blonde curls or a short light wig and warm natural makeup. An old book, a teacup purse or a small potted plant hints at each personality. Dark glasses indoors make stairs harder than you'd think, so I suggest a lighter tinted lens. Suits or skirts, the black-and-cream split carries it.
21. Sun And Moon Costume

A sun and moon pair leaves a lot of room for interpretation, from full glam to minimal. The sun wears a gold dress, metallic suit or yellow jumpsuit with a radiant headpiece, gold makeup, matching boots and a round sun bag or fan. The moon chooses silver or midnight blue with a few small stars, a crescent headband, cool shimmer and silver shoes. Warm curls for the sun, sleek waves, braids or a silver wig for the moon. Big spiked sun headpieces poke people in crowded rooms, so I'd use jeweled hair clips or a smaller crown for packed parties. Matching constellation jewelry is the quiet romantic link between the two.
22. Witch And Black Cat Costume

A witch and her black cat is the classic Halloween match. The witch wears a long black or purple dress, a fitted cape, a pointed hat, striped tights and buckled boots, with purple eye makeup and a small broom or star-print bag. The cat partner goes black jumpsuit, sweater and trousers, or a comfortable dress with opaque tights, plus ears, a soft tail, whiskers and ankle boots. Stars, moons and glitter keep the theme charming. A purple collar on the cat matched to the ribbon on the witch's hat is the detail that marks them as a couple. Tails get sat on and stepped on, so I'd attach yours to a belt rather than pinning it to the clothes.
23. Vampire And Vampire Hunter Costume

A vampire and her hunter can be spooky without anything graphic. The vampire wears a burgundy velvet dress or suit, a black cape, lace gloves and heeled or flat boots, with slicked-back hair, a berry lip, smoky eyes and subtle fangs. The hunter chooses a white blouse, a brown vest, tailored trousers, a long coat and practical boots, with braided hair, natural makeup, round glasses and an old-looking journal. Skip stakes, blades and fake wounds; a rolled map or a felt garlic bulb makes the point. Clip-on fangs make talking and drinking awkward, so I'd test them at home for ten minutes first. Matching vintage jewelry keeps the mood romantic rather than rival.
24. Pirate And Mermaid Costume

A pirate and mermaid pair rough layers with sparkle. The pirate wears a loose white blouse, a fitted vest, striped trousers, a wide sash, tall boots and a soft tricorn hat, plus tousled hair, smudged liner, hoops and a rolled treasure map. The mermaid chooses a shimmering scale-print skirt with a fitted teal top, a sheer wrap, pearls and iridescent flats, beachy waves and blue-green eye makeup with biodegradable cosmetic shimmer. A shell purse or a light treasure chest replaces any sword. I'd pick a mermaid skirt with a little stretch or a side slit; a tight fishtail hem makes walking a real chore. Teal accents on both outfits pull the pair together.
25. Knight And Princess Costume

A knight and princess can be romantic without forcing anyone into a role she doesn't want. The knight wears a silver tunic over black leggings or trousers, a light foam chest piece, a short cape, metallic cuffs and knee boots, with braided or slicked-back hair and silver eye makeup; a shield-shaped bag replaces the sword. The princess wears a jewel-toned gown, an embroidered belt, a small crown and flats, with soft curls, luminous makeup and a velvet pouch. Painted craft foam cracks where it bends, so I seal it with a flexible primer first. Matching tunics and capes make both roles androgynous, and shared crest pins tie it together.
26. Cowgirl And Rodeo Clown Costume

A cowgirl and a rodeo clown mix Western style with loud color. The cowgirl wears a fringed shirt, bootcut jeans, Western boots, a wide-brim hat and a patterned neck scarf, with loose waves, sun-kissed makeup and a coiled rope worn safely across one shoulder. The clown combines patchwork overalls with a striped tee, suspenders, bright socks and high-top sneakers, plus big rosy cheeks, a painted nose and pigtails or a bright short wig. Oversized clown shoes are a tripping hazard on any staircase, so leave them in the store. I always match the cowgirl's scarf to one of the clown's patches. Thrifted denim and fabric scraps cover nearly everything.
27. Bee And Beekeeper Costume

A bee and her beekeeper are quick to put together and easy to read. The bee wears a black-and-yellow striped sweater with a black skirt, trousers or overalls, sheer wings, an antenna headband, yellow eye makeup and black boots or sneakers. The beekeeper pairs beige coveralls with gloves, work boots and a wide-brim hat with soft white mesh. A honey-pot bag or plush flower stands in for real equipment. Mesh blurs your view in dim rooms, so I'd pin it up onto the brim indoors and drop it for photos. Matching sunflower pins add a sweet detail, and jackets fit under both, so it's a solid pick for a cold outdoor night.
28. Moth And Lamp Costume

Moth and lamp is an internet joke that people get the second they see it. The moth wears a fuzzy gray sweater, leggings or wide-leg trousers and soft gray boots, with light patterned wings, feathery antennae, smoky silver makeup and fluffy hair. The lamp wears a cream or gold column dress, a matching suit or a tunic with warm yellow tights, plus gold shoes and glowy makeup. The lampshade headpiece is the build: I make mine from a cut-down paper shade on a headband, sitting above the eyes, with reflective fabric instead of real lights. Have the moth lean toward the lamp all evening. Matching gold jewelry keeps the two visually linked.
29. Frog And Toad Costume

Frog and Toad suit couples who want something cozy and bookish. Frog wears a green cardigan or blazer with a white shirt, tan trousers, green socks and brown loafers, plus a soft frog-eye headband and a touch of green around the eyes. Toad chooses a brown jacket, checked trousers, a mustard vest and lace-ups, with a tan cap, rosy cheeks and a small satchel. Carry a shared storybook, a tea flask or a basket of felt cookies. Full masks muffle your voice and narrow your view, so I'd always choose headbands here. Thrifted knitwear does most of the work, and skirts or overalls fit the earthy green-and-brown palette just as well.
30. Strawberry And Blueberry Costume

A strawberry and a blueberry are bright, simple DIY costumes built on single-color outfits. The strawberry wears a red dress, jumpsuit or top and trousers dotted with small yellow felt seeds, plus green shoes, a leafy headband, red makeup and a berry purse. The blueberry wears royal blue with a few lighter round patches, blue sneakers or flats and a green leaf collar, with blue liner and a rounded green headpiece. Felt seeds fall off polyester if you only glue them; a quick running stitch through each one holds. Matching woven baskets make handy bags. People understand fruit immediately, which helps at parties where character references get missed.
31. Peanut Butter And Jelly Costume

Peanut butter and jelly is the classic couples pun and an easy weekend build. One partner wears tan trousers or a skirt with a caramel sweatshirt, brown sneakers and a peanut headband; the other chooses purple or red with matching tights, fruit hair clips and bright shoes. Cut two bread-slice shapes from light foam board and hang them on the fronts with fabric straps. Foam board softens and bows in damp air, so I'd seal it with clear acrylic spray if you'll be outside. Glossy neutral makeup for peanut butter, berry tones for jelly, and lunchbox bags pull it together. Keep the panels above the knee so you can sit and dance.
32. Cloud And Rainbow Costume

Cloud and rainbow is cheerful and easy to adapt. The cloud wears a white sweater dress, suit or jumpsuit covered in clusters of soft batting, with white sneakers, pearl clips, silver eye makeup and a raindrop purse. The rainbow wears a striped dress, matching separates, or bright trousers with a rainbow sweater, plus colorful shoes, vivid liner and ribbon woven into her hair. Batting sheds and pills on contact, so I hand-tack each cluster at a few points instead of gluing, and keep it off the underarms and away from the face. Blue accessories on both can stand in for the sky. It looks bright and happy indoors and stays family-friendly.
33. Butterfly And Gardener Costume

A butterfly and her gardener can come largely from what you already own. The butterfly wears a colorful dress, a bodysuit with a floaty skirt or a patterned jumpsuit, with light wings, an antenna headband, bright eye makeup, flower clips and flats. The gardener wears denim overalls over a floral shirt, work boots, gardening gloves and a wide sun hat, with a clean watering can of fake flowers or a basket of felt vegetables. I match the gardener's shirt to the colors in the butterfly's wings so the pair connects at a glance. If big wings bother you, a printed cape does the same job. Both outfits are easy to walk and dance in.
34. Disco Cowgirls Costume

Two disco cowgirls double the shine. Each partner wears a metallic fringe top or rhinestone shirt with flared trousers, white or silver Western boots and a glitter cowboy hat. Pick contrasting colors like pink and blue, or go silver and gold together. Voluminous waves, bright shimmer around the eyes and star earrings suit it, with small mirrored bags instead of bulky props. A masc version swaps fitted tops for sequined Western shirts and tailored flares. Use cosmetic-grade glitter only; loose craft glitter is not meant for skin or eyes. I'd also cut any fringe that hangs past the wrist, because it catches on drinks and door handles all night.
35. 1980s Aerobics Duo Costume

Bright workout gear makes an '80s aerobics duo about as comfortable as costumes get. Start with two contrasting leotards over opaque leggings, then add slouchy leg warmers, wide belts, wristbands and supportive white sneakers. One partner might wear hot pink and purple, the other turquoise and yellow. High side ponytails, short teased curls or natural texture under a sweatband, colorful eye makeup and glossy lips suit the decade. Mini exercise mats on straps or water bottles make light props. If a leotard feels too exposed, I'd swap in cropped oversized sweatshirts over bike shorts. A shared geometric pattern unites the pair while each keeps her own colors.
36. Goth And Pastel Costume

Goth and pastel lets two opposite everyday styles show up as they are, built from real wardrobe pieces. The goth partner wears a black lace blouse, pleated trousers or a skirt, platform boots, silver jewelry and a long structured coat, with dark lipstick, smoky liner and sleek black hair. The pastel partner chooses a lavender cardigan, a mint skirt or wide-leg trousers, white sneakers, colorful clips and a heart purse, with pink makeup and soft curls or a pastel wig. Matching chokers, split-color bracelets or the same bag in opposite shades connect you. No one needs to know a character, and I find this is the costume couples feel most like themselves in.
37. Bride And Bride Costume

Two brides celebrate sapphic romance as directly as it gets. Each partner picks a white dress, a tailored suit, a jumpsuit or separates that suit her own style, plus comfortable white shoes, short veils, flower clips and bouquets of artificial flowers. One bride might wear pearls and red lipstick, the other silver jewelry and a graphic liner. For a Halloween twist, add matching black capes or small pumpkin purses, but I'd skip distressed fabric and gory makeup. Married couples can reuse copies of their real wedding accessories. White picks up every mark, so carry a stain pen. Different silhouettes let femme, masc, butch and androgynous brides look equally at home.
38. Cupid And Heart Costume

Cupid and a heart make a romantic pair with very little construction. Cupid wears a white jumpsuit, dress or tailored romper with gold sandals, a metallic belt, feathered wings and a gold laurel headband, plus rosy cheeks, shimmer and a heart-tipped wand instead of a bow. The heart wears a red dress, suit or matching separates with red boots, a heart headpiece, glossy red makeup and a structured heart purse. Gold jewelry on both connects them. Feathered wings shed and span wider than you expect, so I'd keep them compact for indoor parties. Sandals in late October are cold; a pair of sheer nude socks under them won't show in photos.
39. Alien And Astronaut Costume

An alien and an astronaut make a playful space romance. The alien wears a metallic green or silver jumpsuit with platform sneakers, an antenna headband, reflective jewelry and a green graphic liner, plus a sleek bob, space buns or a bright wig. The astronaut chooses a white utility jumpsuit with silver patches, a light harness belt, white boots and a clear visor headband instead of a full helmet, which fogs and blocks your hearing. Add silver makeup and a small moon bag. Mission patches with hearts or initials make it clearly a couple. Reflective tape gives detail without electronics, and I'd wear breathable base layers since jumpsuits get hot fast indoors.
40. Just Roommates WLW Costume

Turn the familiar sapphic joke into a “just roommates” costume. Wear coordinated pajamas, robes, slippers and sleep masks, as if you casually share every household item, and add matching mugs, identical house keys and one cardboard moving box carried between you. One partner can wear plaid sleep pants and a plain tee, the other a patterned pajama set. Relaxed buns, braids or deliberately messy hair and fresh, minimal makeup suit it. Removable “roommate” name tags on the robes make the joke land. I'd add sneakers or thick-soled slippers if you're going outdoors, because thin slippers soak through on wet pavement. Matching heart socks and linked key rings let everyone in on it.
Pink, Blue and Red Hair Without the Dye
A lot of these characters hinge on hair color: Harley's tips, Bubblegum's pink, Vi's pink and Caitlyn's blue, Starfire's red, Enid's streaks. You have three honest options, and each has a catch.
- Temporary color spray is cheap and fast, but it transfers to collars, hands and your partner's shoulder. Spray only the ends, let it dry fully, and wear dark collars if you can.
- Clip-in streaks or colored extensions are cleaner and reusable. Put them underneath a top layer of your own hair so the clip doesn't show.
- A full wig gives the strongest color. Cheap synthetic wigs are shiny under flash; a light dusting of dry shampoo calms that down, and a wig cap plus a few pins keeps it from shifting.
Keep synthetic wigs away from candles, ovens and hair straighteners, since most of them melt or frizz with heat. If you're wearing one, I'd skip the bonfire part of the night or stand well back.
Wings, Tails and Capes in a Packed Room
Several of these pairs add something that sticks out from the body. In a crowded party, those are what get bent, stepped on or knocked into drinks. Wings should fold flat or come off easily so you can sit and travel in a car. Tails are safest on their own belt. Capes do best on snaps or hook-and-loop tape at the shoulders, so they release when caught. If you'll be on public transport or in a small apartment, I'd choose the smaller version of each piece.
Two Costumes, One Story Between You
A good couples costume is more than matching clothes. It tells one small story, and both of you should enjoy being in it. Start with a pair that fits your budget, your venue and how much coverage and comfort each of you wants. Then split up the colors and the signature details before you shop your closets or the thrift racks. No pair has to follow fixed femme or masc roles: swap garments, trade characters, change hem lengths and pick shoes you can walk in. I always do one test run together at home, in full costume, for an hour. Anything that itches, pinches or falls off shows up then, not halfway through the party.
