Aurora is easy to recognise for three reasons: the full gown, the long golden curls and that slim pointed crown. Get those right and you have plenty of freedom with everything else. Below are 45 versions of her, starting with the pink and blue ball gowns and moving through Briar Rose's cottage dress, quick closet builds, modern takes, cold-weather layers, couples and groups, plus options for children, maternity and plus-size bodies. Each one covers the dress, hair, makeup, shoes and a prop. As a sewist I'll point out where a cheap dress needs a little work and where a skirt will trip you, because a princess gown is only charming until you have to climb a staircase in it.

Making the White Collar Stand Up on Its Own
Almost every Aurora below relies on the white pointed collar that sits over her shoulders. It's also the part shop-bought costumes get wrong: floppy, too small or folded flat against the dress. If you make or upgrade just one piece, make it this one.
- Trace a paper pattern around the neckline of the dress you'll wear, then draw the points out past the shoulders. Try the paper on in a mirror before cutting any fabric.
- Cut two layers of white cotton sateen or satin and one layer of firm fusible interfacing. For points that really hold, add buckram or thin craft foam between the layers.
- Sew the layers right sides together, clip the curves, turn it through, and push the points out with a blunt tool rather than scissors.
- Topstitch close to the edge so the layers don't roll, then sew two snaps or small hooks at the shoulders to hold it to the dress.
Satin shows every pressing mark, so I press it from the wrong side with a cloth over it. Make the collar detachable, too. You can wash the dress without it, and the same collar moves between the pink gown, the blue gown and a casual version.
1. Classic Pink Aurora Costume

The pink gown is the one most people picture: floor-length, off the shoulder, fitted at the waist, with a white collar layered over the shoulders. A hooped petticoat gives the most volume, but I'd choose a soft net petticoat for a night out, because hoops swing into people and make sitting down awkward. Curl a long golden wig loosely and bring the front sections forward over the shoulders. A slim gold pointed crown, a fine necklace and pale pink gloves finish her. Keep makeup soft with rosy blush, pink lipstick and a little highlighter. Ballet flats or low block heels hide under the skirt, and one fabric rose is the only prop she needs.
2. Classic Blue Aurora Costume

The blue gown suits anyone who looks better in cool colours. Look for a full-length royal or cornflower-blue dress with long sleeves, a fitted bodice and the white pointed collar. Blue satins vary wildly, and many cheap ones turn purple under indoor lights, so I check fabric in daylight and under a warm bulb before cutting. Add a blue overskirt if the base dress looks thin. A wavy golden wig with a soft side part, a gold crown set just behind the hairline, cool-toned blush and pale pink lips. Blue flats or low heels, and a pink rose for contrast, a quiet nod to the film. Nude thermal leggings disappear under the skirt outdoors.
3. Pink And Blue Color Changing Aurora Costume

Can't decide? The fairies couldn't either, and their argument makes a fun costume in itself. Build a split gown with pink on one side and blue on the other, or keep a blue base with a detachable pink overskirt you can swap during the night. If you sew the split version, cut both halves from fabrics of the same weight and sheen; a heavy pink beside a thin blue hangs unevenly and looks like a mistake. A crisp white collar and the gold crown pull the two colours together. Polished curls, luminous skin, soft berry lips and neutral gold flats that suit either side. Two star-tipped wands make a playful prop.
4. Briar Rose Peasant Aurora Costume

Briar Rose is the cottage version, and honestly it's the easier sew. A beige blouse, a black fitted bodice, a grey or taupe midi skirt and a white collar. A lace-up corset-style belt defines the waist without boning; I make mine from black twill backed with fusible interfacing so it doesn't crease when you sit. Wear a long honey-blonde wig in loose waves with a plain black headband. Natural makeup, peach blush and a muted rose lip. Black flats or brown ankle boots, a woven basket of silk berries, and a beige shawl if the evening turns cool.
5. Woodland Briar Rose Costume

For more forest detail, pair the cream blouse and black bodice with a flowing brown skirt and a moss-green cape. Natural textures such as cotton, linen or brushed velvet sit better here than satin. Let the wig look slightly windswept rather than set, and tuck tiny pressed-flower clips near the back of the hair. Brown ankle boots give real support on grass and uneven paths, which matters if you're taking photos outdoors. A basket trimmed with artificial leaves and a small plush owl or squirrel, stitched or tied on so it can't drop off, add a woodland friend.
6. Aurora Coronation Costume

A coronation look feels royal without copying the animated gown. Choose a pale blue or dusty lavender floor-length dress with fitted sleeves, fine embroidery and a structured square neckline. A light cream cape fastened with a gold clasp sits over the shoulders. I sew the clasp onto a short band of ribbon rather than straight onto the cape, because a heavy clasp drags thin fabric down at the neck. Soft waves with two front pieces twisted back, and a slim gold crown or floral tiara. Luminous skin, rose blush and a pink lip stain. Gold flats or low boots keep the hem clear of the floor, and a rolled parchment makes a ceremonial prop.
7. Aurora Forest Princess Costume

This one mixes her royal side with the forest she grew up in. A soft green gown with a fitted bodice, sheer sleeves and a layered skirt, with pink floral appliqués at the neckline and waist for her rose colours. Sheer sleeves snag on everything, so I'd use a chiffon with a little body rather than a fine mesh. A long blonde wig in loose curls with a gold leaf crown, fresh pink cheeks and champagne shimmer. Gold flats or green ankle boots, a basket wrapped in ivy and a light cream cape for warmth. It looks lovely outdoors among real leaves.
8. Aurora Rose Garden Costume

For a rose garden take, start with a blush-pink gown with a fitted bodice, a layered tulle skirt and small fabric roses along the neckline and waist. Keep the white pointed collar so she still reads as Aurora. Fabric roses get crushed when you sit or hug, so I stitch them on through the centre rather than gluing, and keep them above the waist. Large brushed curls with a rose-covered gold crown, petal-pink shadow and satin lips. Pink flats with clip-on flowers, and one oversized silk rose to carry. Resist adding trailing vines; they catch under your feet.
9. Easy DIY Aurora Costume

A quick DIY Aurora can come almost entirely from your closet or a thrift store. Start with a long pink formal dress and fold a white shawl into a point over the shoulders, pinning it at the centre back where nobody sees. A pink ribbon or narrow gold belt defines the waist. If a wig feels hot, curl your own hair, and use temporary blonde colour only if it suits your hair type, since it rubs off on collars. A craft-foam crown painted gold is light and cheap. Mascara, pink blush, a rose lip, flats you already own and a fabric rose. That's all a last-minute party or school event needs.
10. Last Minute Aurora Costume

When time is short, start with a pink maxi dress, or a pink top with a full matching skirt. Drape a white wrap around the shoulders for the collar and hold it with small safety pins hidden on the inside. A gold party crown or a cardstock tiara adds the royal note. Wear your own hair in loose curls or grab an inexpensive blonde wig with a side part. Rosy cheeks, pink lips, softly defined lashes. Gold sandals, pink sneakers or ballet flats depending on the night, and a silk rose tied to a ribbon. Every piece is easy to find, and together they still say Aurora.
11. Thrifted Aurora Costume

Thrift stores often hold nearly everything you need. Look for a pink bridesmaid dress, a prom gown or a long formal skirt with a matching top. Bridesmaid dresses are a gift for this: they're usually well made, fully lined and easy to take in at the side seams. A white satin shawl cut or folded into a sharp collar adds structure. A secondhand gold necklace wired onto a sturdy headband makes a convincing crown. Smooth waves, classic pink makeup with a little shimmer, preowned ballet flats and a small vintage bag with a silk rose attached.
12. Casual Aurora Costume

For a relaxed party, turn her colours into separates: a fitted pink sweater, a full pink midi skirt and a crisp white collar layered underneath. Add a slim gold belt, gold flats and a small structured bag. A detachable pointed collar is easy to sew from two layers of white cotton with interfacing, then button it to the neckline. Long blonde curls and a simple crown headband make the outfit read as her. Fresh pink makeup and a fabric rose pinned at the shoulder. You can sit, walk and work in it, which suits offices and classrooms where a big skirt would be a nuisance.
13. Modern Aurora Costume

A modern Aurora swaps the gown for a blush-pink jumpsuit with a defined waist and wide legs, with a short white capelet over the shoulders standing in for her collar. Wide-leg jumpsuits need hemming to your shoes, since dragging trousers fray and trip you as easily as a long skirt. Add a minimal gold crown, pointed pink flats and a metallic clutch with a removable rose pin. Glossy waves tucked behind one ear, soft pink shadow, curled lashes and satin lipstick. She keeps her colours and royal details but moves far better than a ball gown at a crowded party.
14. Aurora Princess Pajama Costume

A pajama Aurora gives you real comfort and a sleeping-princess joke. Choose a coordinated pink lounge set with a long-sleeve top and wide-leg trousers, then add a white pointed collar over the neckline and a soft gold crown headband. A slightly tousled long blonde wig suggests she's only just woken up. Keep makeup gentle with a luminous base, rosy cheeks and pink balm. Slippers with proper soles matter if you're walking outside; indoor slippers soak through on the first damp lawn. Carry a small pillow or rolled pink blanket, and pin a silk rose to the top so people connect it to her.
15. Aurora Nap Queen Costume

A pink sweatshirt with a sleepy slogan, worn with fuchsia leggings or a flowing pink midi skirt, makes a playful nap-queen version. If the neckline is wide, a white camisole underneath stops it sliding off a shoulder. Add a long curled blonde wig and a small gold crown. Pink sneakers or cushioned flats, rosy blush and glossy lips. Carry a little travel pillow trimmed with gold ribbon, with a fabric rose stitched to one corner. The joke lands straight away, it's family-friendly, and you can be ready in twenty minutes.
16. Glam Aurora Costume

For a glamorous Aurora, start with a sparkling rose-pink gown with a fitted bodice and a sweeping skirt. Choose sequins or metallic thread that catch the light, but check the inside seams first. Cheap sequin fabric scratches at the underarm, and a soft lining there makes a huge difference over a long evening. A crisp white collar, long pale pink gloves and a tall gold crown. Smooth, voluminous curls placed over the shoulders, champagne shadow, defined lashes and a rich rose lip. Stable gold block heels or embellished flats, plus a jewelled rose clutch. This is the version for formal parties and stage photos.
17. Vintage Aurora Costume

For a mid-century fairytale feel, choose a tea-length pink dress with a fitted waist and a full circle skirt over a soft petticoat. Circle skirts are one of the friendliest things to sew, a single ring of fabric on a waistband, and they swing nicely as you walk. A white portrait collar and short pink gloves give the 1950s outline. Brushed golden curls with a rolled front section, a small crown set toward the back, neat liner and medium-pink lips. Pink kitten heels or T-straps suit the shorter hem. It nods to the era of the original film and is much easier at a busy indoor party than a floor-length gown.
18. Renaissance Aurora Costume

Reimagine her as a Renaissance princess in a dusty pink gown with a square neckline, fitted sleeves and a full skirt. Cream undersleeves and gold ribbon trim give it a hand-finished, courtly look. I sew trim on by machine with a narrow zigzag down its centre, which holds better than glue and hides in the ribbon pattern. A decorative belt at the natural waist carries a small fabric pouch. Braid the front sections of a long blonde wig and pin them under a slim gold crown. Peach-pink blush, brown liner and a rose lip, with flat lace-up shoes under the gown. Silk roses or an embroidered handkerchief suit fairs and themed events.
19. Medieval Aurora Costume

For a practical medieval version, layer a deep pink sleeveless overdress over a rose-coloured underdress. A cream cape with a simple gold clasp and a narrow braided belt finish the shape. Loose waves with two small sections pulled back under a low gold circlet, and natural makeup with flushed cheeks and muted pink lips. Brown ankle boots make it fine for outdoor venues and long walks. A drawstring pouch and one fabric rose are the only props. Layered dresses like this suit cold nights, because a thermal top hides under the underdress and nobody can tell.
20. Cottagecore Aurora Costume

A cottagecore Aurora starts with a pink floral maxi dress with puff sleeves and a fitted waist. A cream apron gives a homestead feel, while a laced bodice reads more woodland princess. Puff sleeves flatten after an hour if nothing supports them, so I tuck a small strip of gathered tulle into each sleeve head. Relaxed waves with small braids and a black velvet headband, rosy makeup with a few freckles and tinted balm. Brown Mary Janes or lace-up boots, a woven basket of silk roses and herbs, and a pale green cardigan over the top outdoors.
21. Fairycore Aurora Costume

For an airy fairycore look, use a pale pink chiffon dress with translucent cape sleeves and a layered handkerchief skirt, plus a white angular collar so she still reads as Aurora. Handkerchief hems are forgiving to sew, because the points hide any unevenness. Style a long golden wig with soft waves, tiny floral clips and a fine gold crown. Shimmering pink shadow and a touch of cosmetic-grade glitter at the temples; craft glitter should never go near the eyes. Gold lace-up flats, and a flower-covered wand with a rounded star tip. Keep any wings small enough to clear a doorway.
22. Dark Pink Aurora Costume

A raspberry or dark rose gown gives a richer version that suits evening parties. Fitted bodice, long sleeves and a full skirt, with a white or pale blush collar for contrast. Darker pinks hide small sewing wobbles and party marks far better than pale ones, which is handy anywhere food is served. Polished waves under an antique-gold crown, mauve shadow, berry blush and a deep rose lip. Burgundy flats, pink block heels or gold ankle boots depending on the venue, and a dark pink artificial rose wrapped in gold ribbon. Under warm indoor light this shade glows, and she keeps her familiar shape.
23. Pastel Aurora Costume

Pastels make a softer Aurora: a pale blush gown with a lavender-pink underskirt, sheer sleeves and an ivory pointed collar, cinched with a narrow champagne-gold belt. Very pale fabrics can turn see-through under a camera flash, so test the underskirt with a quick phone photo before the day. A light golden-blonde wig in loose curls with a small matte-gold crown, watercolour makeup in pale pink and peach, and sheer gloss. Ivory flats or blush Mary Janes, and a small posy of pastel silk roses tied with blue and pink ribbon. It suits daytime parties and anyone who prefers a quieter princess.
24. Sparkly Aurora Costume

To make her sparkle, layer pink glitter tulle over an opaque satin lining. A structured bodice, full skirt and white pointed neckline keep the shape clear underneath all that shine. Glitter tulle sheds tiny flecks onto everything you touch, so I pick tulle with bonded glitter or attached sequins, and keep loose glitter well away from the face. A rhinestone-trimmed gold crown, smooth long curls, champagne lids and glossy lips. Silver-gold flats under the skirt, and a crystal-look rose made from light acrylic. Bright indoor rooms and formal photos show it off best.
25. Velvet Aurora Costume

Velvet suits cold weather and evening events. Choose a dusty rose or jewel-pink velvet gown with fitted sleeves, a defined waist and a flowing skirt, with an ivory satin collar and a detachable pink cape. Velvet creeps and shifts under the machine, so if you're making one, pin closely and use a walking foot or hand-baste the seams first. A long golden wig in smooth waves under a textured crown, glowing skin, warm pink blush and a rose lip. Closed-toe gold flats or low pink boots, and a velvet pouch with a silk rose instead of a hard clutch.
26. Winter Aurora Costume

Cold weather doesn't mean hiding the gown under a coat that has nothing to do with it. Start with a long-sleeve pink gown roomy enough for thermal layers, then add an ivory faux-fur capelet, pink tights and insulated gold ankle boots under the skirt. A crown headband with small combs grips the wig in wind far better than a loose tiara. Use moisturising foundation, cream blush, waterproof mascara and tinted balm, since cold air makes powder look dry. Pale pink gloves with gold trim keep hands warm. Carry a fabric rose bouquet. It holds up at outdoor festivals, parades and a neighbourhood trick-or-treat.
27. Summer Aurora Costume

For a hot day, rethink the gown in light pieces: a sleeveless pink midi dress with a fitted bodice and flowing skirt, and a removable white collar in thin cotton. Cotton breathes, while polyester satin traps heat on your shoulders, which is exactly where the collar sits. A loose half-up style keeps hair off the neck, with a light gold crown headband and fresh pink makeup. Pink sandals or breathable flats with cushioned soles, and a small crossbody bag with a silk rose rather than a bulky prop. The shorter hem keeps her recognisable without overheating.
28. Modest Aurora Costume

A modest Aurora keeps the gown's classic shape with full coverage. Choose a floor-length pink dress with a high neckline, long sleeves and a full A-line skirt. Layer an opaque white collar over the shoulders and add a wide pink belt. Wear a long blonde wig in smooth curls, or pair the gold crown with your own secure hair covering; a crown stitched to a soft band sits comfortably over a scarf. Soft rose blush, neutral shadow and muted pink lips. Closed-toe flats or gold ankle boots, and a single silk rose. Opaque fabrics stay polished in bright light.
29. Plus Size Aurora Costume

For a plus-size Aurora, build around fit and movement rather than hiding your shape. A pink wrap-style or structured A-line gown defines the waist and gives room through the skirt. The collar is the piece that tends to slide on a fuller bust, so I sew small snaps at the shoulder seams to anchor it. A flexible gold belt at the waist, a long curled wig and a lightweight crown. Luminous skin, defined lashes and a pink lip that suits your complexion. Cushioned flats, supportive low heels or dressy sneakers vanish under the hem. Taking in the bodice and hemming to your height are what make it look made for you.
30. Maternity Aurora Costume

A maternity Aurora should feel royal without any pressure on the waist. A soft pink empire-waist maxi dress flows over the bump, with a light white capelet or pointed collar sitting above the bust. Keep fastenings loose but secure, and check that you can sit and stand easily before the night. A flexible crown headband is far kinder than a heavy metal tiara over a long evening. Stick to the makeup products you already know your skin likes. Supportive gold flats or cushioned sneakers, and a small silk rose bouquet for photos, but keep your hands free while walking. Stretch jersey stays comfortable for hours.
31. Kids Aurora Costume

For a child, soft fabric and easy movement come first. A knee- or ankle-length pink dress with a stretchy bodice, short sleeves and a light tulle skirt. Round off the collar points, because stiff points rub a child's neck and kids pull off anything that scratches. Curl their hair loosely, or use a blonde wig only if they genuinely enjoy wearing one. A soft gold crown headband, a little rosy colour and tinted balm instead of real makeup. Pink sneakers or secure flats are far safer than heels on a dark street. A plush rose or small basket, and no trailing cape, so they can run, sit and play.
32. Toddler Aurora Costume

For toddlers, simplify to a soft pink dress with a stretchy waist and a calf-length skirt. A white felt collar with rounded edges, stitched rather than glued, means nothing can come loose and end up in a mouth. A soft fabric crown beats a hard tiara, and a pink or gold bow can replace it entirely if headwear causes tears. A blonde yarn ponytail on a comfy headband is a sweet stand-in for a wig. Skip makeup, or use only child-safe colour. Pink nonslip shoes, and a plush rose or a small stuffed woodland animal. No loose beads, nothing scratchy, nothing tight.
33. Aurora Costume With Sneakers

Comfortable shoes make a dramatic gown far easier to wear. Pair a classic pink Aurora dress with clean pink, white or gold sneakers. Hem the skirt to just clear the ground in those sneakers, about a finger's width above the floor, so the shoes look deliberate and never catch the hem. Add the white pointed collar, a slim crown and long curls, with pink blush, soft liner and a rose lip. Gold ribbon laces or rose shoe clips link the sneakers to the theme, and a hands-free pink bag keeps you free to hold the skirt. This is the version for long trick-or-treat routes and full days on your feet.
34. Aurora Costume With Cape

A cape adds movement and warmth. Wear a floor-length pink gown with a matching shoulder cape lined in ivory, ending around the knees so you don't tread on it. The white pointed collar sits above the cape neckline with a gold clasp at the front. Capes pull backward at the throat as you walk, so I anchor mine with two hidden snaps at the shoulders instead of trusting the clasp alone. Controlled waves, a secure crown, luminous skin and a pink lip. Gold ankle boots or low heels underneath. Practise turning at home so the cape swings rather than tangling around other guests.
35. Aurora Costume With Flower Crown

Swap the pointed crown for flowers. Begin with a flowing pink gown or a Briar Rose skirt and bodice; a white collar keeps it royal, a cream shawl makes it softer and more woodland. Loose waves with two small side braids, and a crown of pink roses, tiny white blossoms and a few gold leaves. Flower crowns slide backward on a slippery wig, so I wire mine to a thin headband or pin through it with bobby pins at both temples. Fresh makeup with champagne shadow and a rose lip stain. Brown flats for the woodland version or gold shoes for the gown, and a small flower basket to carry.
36. Aurora And Prince Phillip Couple Costume

Pair Aurora's pink gown with Prince Phillip's red cape, grey tunic and black trousers for an easy couple. Aurora wears the white collar, gold crown, blonde curls, rosy makeup and pink flats. Phillip adds a dark belt and knee-high brown boots, with neat brown or reddish-brown hair. Cut Phillip's cape a little shorter than you think, because two people walking side by side tread on each other's capes and hems more often than you'd expect. Keep props peaceful: a silk rose for her, a rolled map or royal invitation for him. Matching gold details on both tie the pair together.
37. Aurora And Maleficent Duo Costume

Aurora's soft pink against Maleficent's black and purple makes a striking duo. Aurora wears her gown, white collar, crown, curls and pink flats. Maleficent takes a long black dress or robe with a purple-lined cape, a sculpted horn headpiece, black boots and green-toned eye makeup. Horn headpieces get heavy and tip backward, so build them from craft foam or a stuffed fabric shape and anchor them to a snug headband with a strap under the hair at the back. A raven plush on the shoulder makes a family-friendly prop. Keep Maleficent elegant rather than frightening if younger children will be around.
38. Aurora And Fairy Godmothers Group Costume

A group of four can be Aurora with Flora, Fauna and Merryweather. The three fairies wear matching cape dresses in red, green and blue with pointed hats, a little shimmer and comfortable flats, while Aurora keeps her longer pink gown so she reads as the royal one. I'd sew the three fairy dresses from one pattern in the three colours, which is the fastest way to make them look like a set. Keeping those dresses at knee or midi length means the fairies can move freely. Star-tipped wands are safe props. It suits friends, siblings, or a teacher with three helpers.
39. Sleeping Beauty Family Costume

A whole family can share the story: Aurora, Prince Phillip, Maleficent and one or more good fairies. Aurora in her pink gown and crown, Phillip in a grey tunic with a red cape and boots, Maleficent in a long black robe with a purple cape and a soft horn headpiece, and everyone else in red, green or blue fairy dresses with pointed hats and star wands. Give the youngest children the fairy roles, since those dresses are short and easy to move in. Keep makeup gentle across the board. Silk roses, a plush raven and rolled parchment are safe props, and repeating gold trim on everyone makes thrifted and homemade pieces look like one cast.
40. Aurora And Briar Rose Transformation Costume

Show both sides of her story in one costume. Start with a Briar Rose base: cream blouse, black bodice, grey skirt, black headband and brown ankle boots. A removable pink overskirt and white collar turn it into the princess when you're ready. I attach overskirts with a wide waistband, two strong hooks and a strip of hook-and-loop tape, because snaps alone pop open under the weight of the skirt. Keep the small gold crown in your basket until the reveal. Natural rosy makeup suits both halves. A reversible cape, forest green on one side and pink on the other, gives you a second change from one comfortable base.
41. Aurora Doll Costume

A doll-like Aurora uses a structured pink tea-length dress, an exaggerated white collar and a full petticoat, with pale pink tights, shiny Mary Janes and short satin gloves. An oversized collar flops unless it's stiff, so I back it with firm sew-in interfacing or a layer of buckram. Smooth, uniform curls with a small crown at the centre, an even complexion, circular rosy blush, defined upper lashes and glossy lips. Keep it sweet rather than mask-like. A rose-shaped purse, and a decorative pink frame to pose behind for pictures. The shorter skirt is easy to manage at an indoor party.
42. Aurora Masquerade Costume

A masquerade Aurora uses a deep blush ball gown with a fitted bodice, white pointed collar and fine gold embroidery, plus a pink-and-gold eye mask on a handle or a ribbon. A mask on a stick is easier over a long night, because you can lower it to eat and talk. If you tie one on, choose wide eye openings so you can still see your feet on stairs. Polished curls under a narrow crown, rose-gold shadow and satin pink lips that show around the mask. Gold block heels or embellished flats, a single artificial rose and a small matching clutch.
43. Aurora Ballerina Costume

Turn the gown into a ballet costume with a pink leotard, a layered knee-length tulle skirt and a white pointed shoulder collar, plus pale pink tights and ballet-style flats with soft ribbons at the ankles. A longer sheer overskirt adds movement without reaching the floor. Tulle skirts are simple to make by gathering several layers onto a wide elastic waistband, and they hold their shape well. A low curled bun with two soft face-framing pieces and a small crown in front of it. Pink blush, champagne shadow and a rose lip. A fabric rose or a short ribbon wand suits a dance-themed party.
44. Aurora Royal Wedding Costume

For a royal wedding take, choose a pale blush gown with long sleeves, a full skirt and subtle rose embroidery. Add a white pointed collar and a short sheer veil under the gold crown. I sew a small comb into the top edge of the veil so it anchors under the crown instead of relying on pins. Smooth curls or a half-up style, luminous skin and classic pink makeup. Ivory or gold flats, and a small bouquet of pink and white silk roses tied with gold ribbon. Keep it fairytale rather than modern bridal; a removable pink cape ties it back to her colours.
45. Aurora Inspired Everyday Costume

For a subtle everyday Aurora, pair a pink midi dress with a cropped white cardigan buttoned at the neck and folded open into points to suggest her collar. Add a slim gold belt, pointed pink flats and a rose-shaped crossbody bag. Loose golden waves with a small crown headband or a gold hair comb, and wearable makeup with rosy blush and pink gloss. A silk rose tucked into the bag is a final clue. It moves from the office to school pickup to a Halloween party without a change of clothes.
Getting a Floor-Length Gown Through a Night Out
Long skirts are where princess costumes go wrong, especially on children and on anyone walking a trick-or-treat route. A few minutes of fitting at home prevents most of the trouble.
Length, volume and stairs
- Hem to the shoes you'll wear, leaving the skirt about a finger's width off the floor. Any longer and you'll step on it going upstairs.
- Choose a soft net petticoat over a hoop for parties and car rides. Hoops swing into people and won't fold into a seat.
- Practise lifting the front of the skirt with one hand on stairs, and keep the other hand free for the rail.
Dark streets and wet weather
Pale pink is fairly easy to see at dusk, but I still add a strip of reflective tape inside the back hem of a child's skirt, or a small clip-on light on the basket. In the rain, a hem that drags soaks up water fast and gets heavy, so shorter is safer for anyone walking outdoors.
A Gown, a Collar and a Crown Are Enough
Aurora comes down to a pink or blue gown, golden curls, a pointed crown and practical shoes. From there, Briar Rose's cottage dress, casual separates, a modern jumpsuit, seasonal layers or a group with the fairies are all just as much fun. Secure every headpiece, keep accessories light, and hem the skirt to the shoes you'll actually wear before you go out. Small tailoring changes, a taken-in bodice or a sharper collar, make even an inexpensive dress look finished. Whether it's a quick closet build or a fully sewn gown, she suits almost any celebration.
